Hi The rear differential on my 2014 Octavia 2.0 SE estate needs replacing due to excessive bearing noise which is rapidly getting worse. My local friendly garage has confirmed this by running the car on a car lift with a stethoscope on the differential. However, they have not yet sourced a replacement differential (or anyone who can refurnish mine). A new diff is not a viable option at over £4k and I am reluctant to get a used one. Has anyone had theirs refurbished by a transmission specialist and if so by whom? Thanks Richard

I've been looking for ages for a travel mg to fit my Octavia. I wish I'd found this thread earlier! Thanks to TheWanderer, I've now bought a Thermos mug which I'm very happy with.

They replace with the later design, so shouldn’t be a problem again.- 268 replies

The Mk3 Octavia TDI water pump thread
boozeroo replied to pist0nbr0ke's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Year of registration - March 14 Engine - 2.0TDi 150 SE 4x4 Mileage when fault occurred - 40,000 Dealer name & response (i.e. "don't want to know"/"yep, they all do that"/other) - N/A Warranty or goodwill contribution? - Warranty. Failed once after 2 years 11 months. Was fixed at 2 years 11 month and 3 weeks. At this point car was my company lease car which I then bought at 3 years old. 2 weeks after the water pump change, when the car was 1 week out of warranty and now my own car, the cam belt slipped 3 notches. The dealer recovered the car and investigated the problem. Repair invoice states ' Investigate power loss. Replaced engine. Price 0.00' . There was no proof it was caused by the work two weeks earlier and with car now out of warranty, I guess that was goodwill; a lot of it! Any other info. (Full Skoda service history/independent?) - Mix of main dealer and Halfords Autocentre- 268 replies

Check the parking ticket holder is still touching the windscreen. They did mine a few weeks ago and it is a few mm off so doesn't hold tickets anymore. They are coming back to fix it on Monday.

I'm using the Westfalia kit. Tow bar prep for cars prior to June last year didn't include the additional caravan cables, so the 13 pin kit for cars prior to June 2014 requires the two cables I mentioned for the split charging electrics. ( This bit is explained in http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/331351-tow-bar/?hl=%2Bcaravan#entry4180094 #20). My query is just where/how to connect those cables up.

I've seen quite a few threads asking questions about tow bar wiring but not found the specific detail I need. I have an SE Estate from March 2014 with tow bar prep. We fitted the Westfalia tow bar and 7 pin kit which is really easy with the tow bar prep. I have now bought a caravan and am upgrading the electrics to 13 pin. The key difference from the 7 pin kit to the 15 pin kit (on pre June 2014 cars) is the pair of cables which need to be run to the front of the car for the live feed and for the control line. However, the instructions are very vague about exactly where they should be connected. Question is, has anyone done this and can provide any more detail or photos for the connections of these cables at the front of the car? Thanks Richard

Dog guard and boot liners. Again!
boozeroo replied to Mike999vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I have got the Travall guard. It's very easy to install and seems robust. The guard is attached to the rear seat catch loops. The dogs haven't tested it yet but it is very similar to the one we had in our Passat which has worked fine for 3 years. Richard
