  1. Whether you have £1 or £5000 "equity" at the end of a PCP you are no better or worse off. With PCP you are paying for the depreciation of the car. If a nice salesman or women says to you "You can have this new shiny vRS for £10,000 over 3 years but it will depreciate by £13,000." Is this better or worse than it depreciating only £8,000?
  2. What I am saying is that in comparison to buying the car outright a "negative equity" situation is better. Having "equity" to put towards another car means that you have just over paid for the car. With PCP you can never lose. You know all the numbers beforehand. Example: GMFV > Value of the car ---- You have over paid for the car but the "equity" is offset against a new deal. You are no better or worse off. GMFV = Valve of the car ---- You have paid the correct price for the car. You are no better or worse off. GMFV < Value of the car ---- You have under paid for the car. You are better off.
  3. I agree that the recent PCH deals are very good but they were not around three years ago when the 0% PCP was the best available option. The good thing about PCP is that you know the depreciation before you sign up! Anyone who thinks that equity at the end of a PCP is a good thing is wrong. In terms of PCP: Equity = The amount you have over paid for the car! Negative Equity = The amount you have under paid for the car!!
  4. Don't be sad, you should be happy You've paid £1500 less than the car has depreciated over the term of your agreement!! Imagine if your car had £1500 "equity" in it. The £1500 "equity" covers the amount you've over paid for the car in the first place! PCP is getting too much unjustified bad press at the moment.
  5. I must add that my dog guard is a full height single piece one, not the top grill type that attaches to the lashing points.
  6. I've got a dog guard from my old MK5 Golf in my mk3 Octavia estate so I'm guessing it will. Fit is perfect.
  7. Could buy something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TEGIWA-COILOVER-SUSPENSION-SHOCK-SOCKS-COVERS-300MM-/400761530973
  8. The way I see PCP is: If the car is worth less than the GMFV at the end of the term then that is a bonus. VWFS has obviously underestimated the depreciation and you have paid less for the car over the term of the agreement than the amount the car has deprecated. WINNER J If the car is worth more than the GMFV at the end of the term then that is a bonus too. Any remaining cash can be traded in against another deal. WINNER J With PCP the future has been predicted for you so you can never have a nasty surprise. Regarding the OP’s so called “negative equity”, this is always going to happen as PCP payments are linear and depreciation is exponential. If you decide to swap your car early you are always more than likely going to take a big hit. For me PCP has been a 0% way to purchase a new car that I have every intention of keeping for at least 6 or 7 years.
  9. As much as I do like peering underneath cars I can't take credit for these photos. See below link: http://www.skodaforum.nl/forum/i/eibach-verlagingsveren-octavia-combi.19270/page-3
  10. It wouldn't be the first time.......
  11. Just been advised provisional wk19. Assuming 3 weeks for build and delivery that'll be 29wks from order! :S
  12. I've asked my dealer to order me one for when my car arrives. He hasn't said that its not available so I assume he can order it. Having said that I'm 18 weeks into my order and I still do not have a provisional build week!! It maybe that he is waiting until my build week is fixed until he orders it, at which point he may find out that its not available :wonder:
  13. Dealer is going to order me one for when my new car arrives, if it ever does. £60.00.
  14. This may be of help to someone. http://www.bilkomponenter.no/users/kufatec_mystore_no/Image/VW/Foot_space_illumination_VW_Golf_EOS_Scirocco_Passat_Jetta_Sharan_7N_Polo_6R_englisch.pdf Refers to plug B, pin 50 for 2010 models onwards.
