I had a Mk1 Octavia a couple of years ago, and while the economy was fantastic and the reliability amazing, I just couldn't get comfortable in it. Mine was the SLX which had height adjustable driver's seat but however I adjusted the seat it gave me terrible pains in my thigh after the long (an hour or so) drive to work.
If it had another inch of movement in the seat runners then all would have been fine. Is it possible to move the seat runners back on the floorpan, or is there some other way of improving things?
I've just had a look at some road tests and it says there's 112cm of legroom in the front, that's as much as our old Volvo where I could barely hold the clutch down when the seat was all the way back. I'm 6'2" tall with fairly long legs but I'm not like Mr Tall, 34" inside leg according to my trousers.
Thanks!

Me again
I did this fix today and it worked perfectly. The odometer digits weren't clear at first and it seems I hadn't twisted the metal tabs back properly. Worth trying it before you screw in the instrument cluster and bezel.
I twisted the tabs properly, tried it again and everything was great. Thank you for the instructions!

Glad I found this, joined up to say thanks for posting it!
My Mk1 Octavia diesel suffers from this, I'll keep using the GPS speedometer on my phone until I get around to taking the dials out but it looks less daunting with this excellent guide
More front legroom possible?

Maybe it was just lack of support under the thighs, I know that winding the lumbar support in to make a longer seat cushion helped a bit.
I'll maybe try a Golf to see if the seats are better, thanks for the help everyone
