Auto car MG6 vs Octavia comparison
pgclosie replied to Warkman's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I see the MG managed to squeeze in gas struts for the bonnet. I still don't get why they didn't put them on the octy! -
Agree - I kayak and keep the key in a small waterproof bag. Its nice to come back to the car and the boot can be opened without having to get the key out. It's the main reason I went for the KESSY option.

Error light on dash on new VRS

Hi Andy361, Sounds similar to the issue I had. As you'll see above it was due to a fault with a pressure sensor. -
Where has this piece of plastic come from?
pgclosie replied to JamesVRSmk3's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I also had this piece fall of and it keeps falling off. I've found a new home for it in the rear ash tray. -
I had a simlar problem a while back. Long story short it was a pressure sensor and took 2 weeks to put right. Have a look at my other posts to get the details.

Bolero sound system on Octavia RS III
pgclosie replied to darkpuh's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I'm in the Bolero is prity poor camp. However when I connect my phone via bluetooth and play Spotify music through the radio with an equaliser setting turned on in Spotify it sounds much better. Bass is so much better than I can get when listening to the radio. -
Cheap set of roofbars for Mk3?
pgclosie replied to MarkFC's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I went for Hardcastle racks off amazon. 135cm length. £40. They will fit the estate. One small problem I had with them was that the keys to unlock them are a bit stiff. Spray of WD40 and now they are moving freely. I'm only going to use them occasionally so didn't need super expensive ones. -
Start-stop fuel consumption really better?
pgclosie replied to bli34's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I'd guess it's also to reduce emissions in congested areas therefore attempting to improve air quality in towns and cities. -
Error light on dash on new VRS
pgclosie replied to pgclosie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Interesting - Funny mine took 2 weeks to put right. Communication must be lacking between Skoda UK and their servicing depts. I would guess/hope the next time that problem comes to the technician it will be fixed quickly. -
Bl&&dy start/stop problems again :(
pgclosie replied to Smeghead's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I relation to OP's problem with the Start/Stop not de-activating when he pressed the button. I had the same problem once. Pressed the button to de-activate it only to find at the next stop the S/S stopped the engine. I was only playing around with it at the time to see how it worked. I now just let the S/S do its thing. -

Error light on dash on new VRS
pgclosie replied to pgclosie's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Update - I just received a call and it turns out the fault was with a pressure sensor which has been replaced. The technician will drive it tonight to test it further and all being well I can pick it up tomorrow. Touch wood I don't have any further problems. -
Error light on dash on new VRS

Thanks for the responses folks. I agree with your comments. I have a good relationship with the dealer at the min so I'll give them more time to do there thing. 30k and its yours! -
Hi all, My 2.0 TDi DSG Estate VRs has approx 1400 miles on the clock and was about 1 month old. I was driving home and the engine felt like it lost power. I then noticed the glow plug indicator was flashing. It seemed to be in a 'safe mode' which reduced throttle but I was able to get it home. I restated the engine when i got home and the light did not flash so I thought I'll get it to the dealer the next evening to get it checked out. The next day I was setting off for work and after a few seconds driving the light began to flash again and back into 'safe mode'. I contacted my local Skoda servicing department who suggested calling Skoda assistance which I did. Skoda assistance arrived and were unable to diagnose the fault. the engine management light illuminated during his checks. The only option was to drive the car to the Skoda garage and booked it in. I received a replacement car later that day from Eurocar as Skoda didn't have any courtesy vehicles for me. The car has been with Skoda from the 19th May. From the contact I have had from service they believe it is a sensor or wiring so are attempting to replace this with a donor vehicle (i'm not sure I want the wiring in my new VRS ripped out and stuck back in again) . The last call I received on 28th May and they still don't know whats wrong with the car and are continuing to investigate. So here I am driving a VW Sharan instead of my VRS that I waited almost 6 months for and Skoda Service don't know whats wrong with it. I am concerned that the work carried out may impact the future reliability of the car. Thoughts?

I've noticed that if my phone goes into power saving while listening to music over bluebook the sound begins to skip and crackle. I'm using a Samsung s4 with bolero head unit.

Picked up my new car from JMM last Thursday. Overall the experience dealing with Nick and colleagues has been great. I was always kept updated on the progress of my car and Nick took plenty of time on the handover to make sure I was happy with everything. Thanks again! -
Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info - something similar with the KESSY. You have to double dip your hand behind the handle and all doors open. A single grab of the handle opens just the door you are at. What setting is it in the Infotechy? Had a quick look and couldn't find anything relating to the locking/unlocking?
-
The rear doors on my new VRS Octavia are not opening from the outside after unlocking the car. Driver/Passenger door and boot open correctly. I have the KESSY system but even when locking the car using the button the rear doors remain locked.. Anyone else had a problem with this. I can open the doors from the inside but that's not much good.

No roof antenna on my vRS
pgclosie replied to alekrist's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I think the antenna is in the back window, hence no roof aerial...
