  1. Hi fellow Skoda enthusiasts - I am after some friendly advice. I jumped back in the car last w/e after a previous days drive out to the Brecon Beacons - and this morning, the car still thinks I am there!!! I ned to get the SatNav working as I use t for work. Its been absolutely faultless since I got the car with 34K on the clock, back in Nov 2020 We are now at 114K It hsnt missed a beat - just working as it should. Turned on Infotainment for a biz trip to Poole and, SatNav showing I am still in Brecon!!!! Thought, that weird? So did an Infotainment reset - power held down for 30S - came back to life. Problem still exists. Is this a known issue. What might be causing this? I would think its probably the GPS aerial, but I understand that there is also an Aerial Amp somewhere. Before I go removing the headliner, swapping out bits, can anyone suggest n easy way for me to determine where the problem may lie? Is this a trip to my main dealer, or a good auto electrician? Does anyone know where the Aerial Amp is on the Estate? I suppose I could get a screen GPS aerial and try this in the back of the HU and work my way back to the aerial itself. Any ideas or support info would be so appreciated. Thanks for sharing a great community!!!
  2. Gearbox removed and taken to Transmission Specialist - no faults found - working perefectly well. So fault with Valeo DMF. Damage as follows:- Faulty Clutch/DMF 2 x Gearbox Flanges £501.76 total 12 x Flange Bolts £23.76 1 x 04L141015 Clutch Kit £270.27 1 x S04L105266AF Flywheel £734.16 Ouch!!!!
  3. My Superb estate Mk3 has covered 90K miles - ride is crashy on Sport setting and bounces a lot on comfort - is this a sign of worn rear shocks? I do carry a boot load of equipment most of the time, although its not excessively heavy stuff. Would it be reasonable to suspect and therefore change shocks, springs and top mounts, or is that over-the-top?
  4. 6-months in and car still making a fair old rattle when stationary. Depressing clutch does remove rattle so definately thinking it a gearbox issue with the freewheeling gears. 😏
  5. I am getting a metallic buzzing from the dash area that seems to be related to the Revs on drive - clutch in still, still occurring. Seems to occur around 2000rpm, and sounds like a buzz/vibration/rasping sound. Are there any heat shields or similar around the engine bay that could cause this perhaps? I can ignore it for a bit but after a while, it just really grates on you. Any suggestions would be most welcome........
  6. Ah, that might explain it. Is this a recommended change by Skoda then to a SMF, because of all the old DMF issues, or have they speccd' the wrong item - My gearbox is the 6-spd Man 02M according to the Owners manual.
  7. Thats whats odd about it, its a random sound - it it was a broken cog or spline, I would expect I would hear this uniformly, so thinking of taking it elsewhere now for a second opinion.
  8. Thanks for your reply. Yes on idle, you can clearly hear the random clattering from the gearbox - i'll see if I can post a video with sound, so you can hear.
  9. Just after a bit of advice really - my 2017 SS 2.0TDI Manual Estate has devloped a fault with the gearbox, or at least I am being told thias by my local indi VW_AUDI specialist. Car has covered 80K mile. Had DMF changed about 3K ago after clunking metallic sound heard from engine - this seemed to fix but noticed over time, still an issue. Second DMF fitted, but again problem seemed to come back. Garage now declaring its a gearbox fault - you can hear a metallic random rattling from the lower engine area, when stationary, but seems to disappear when driving (or get less). The mechanic said that it might be a gear cog with a missing tooth and they would need to remove the gearbox and get repaired by a specialist. God knows at what cost! He said that although the car is stationary, the gearbox drive shaft is still spinning in the box - really? Is that right? I could understand if a DSG but mines a Manual box. Wiould this happen? So am at a loss what to do next. If they do the job, its going to be 6-10 day, I have to hire a car for work, but I am somewhat wary that I might be getting ripped off. Any guidance would be most valuable and welcome. TIA
  10. 2017, 2.0TDi, 150bhp, Estate, Manual - driving yesterday, clutch is now slipping when accelerating (normal driving, not racing!!!). As I accelerate, the engine revs rise and you can hear the slippage....happens in any gear! No rattling or other noises present. Mileage is 67000 and daily use, mostly motorways and a-roads, driven sensibly for work. Question is, is it just the clutch or impending failure of the DMF? I have had a quote for £1100 - includes Clutch kit, DMF, Clutch Slave Cylinder and labour. Is this reasonable?
  11. Thanks John, good shout, I'll give them a call to see if they can do it and at what cost.
  12. I am looking to add a retrofit RVC to my 2017 SS SEL Estate, and would like it to be integrated into my Infotainment system. I have read various posts on this and am looking for an installer in the South West of the UK who would be willing to do this for me. Can amnyone here recommend a suitable company or installer who can do this? Im based in Melksham, Wiltshire so would prefer someone based in the region? Any suggestions? Many thanks.
