  1. The update is just the map data and points of interest. So you simply put the card back in and away you go. The update menu you looked at is for the software itself, and is done by the dealer. Like me, you have moved forward one update. The next one will be in November I think. If you want the software updating (e.g. to cope with a new phone upgrade) that's a dealer job.

Spot on, makes perfect sense. Thank you

  2. Thanks.

    It's brand new, 16 plate.

In all honesty I'm not even sure if id use it if enabled. I rarely use high beam and when I do on the odd country road I'm always turning them off as soon as i notice oncoming vehicles and I have a hunch that I'd end up turning them off quicker than the car would detect oncoming traffic, maybe....Maybe not.

  3. I followed your instructions and ive just placed the sd card back into the car and started it up.

No update screen showed and when I pressed the update button it came up with a message saying no update found/required (something along those lines), however when I now check the version it has changed from ece 2016 to ece 2016/2017 so I'm assuming it's all sorted? The nav screen showed correctly also.

Is this update literally covering new roads etc or is there anything else that I will notice?

  4. Traded my old vrs in (63 plate) and enjoyed the standard stereo in it.

Picked up a 16 plate vrs again with standard stereo but this time an estate which has the aerial on the roof.

I've noticed when the radio is on at 60% volume there is a slight crackle and at 70% up it becomes very noticeable and makes listening the music impossible because of the crackle.

I've tweaked the equaliser and it is not panel rattle it is the speakers I'm almost certain.

When at 100% on Bluetooth audio there is no rattle whatsoever.

Any suggestions or is it a trip to Skoda?

  5. If you've got a Sony Z5, try the "ReadItToMe" app. You need to turn on "support for older Bluetooth devices" ( or something like that) in the settings to get it working, but it will read out texts fairly well.

Works fine on my 2015 Octavia Vrs with Colombus. It's the only thing I could find that would read texts. Also I think it works with WhatsApp etc.

How does the app interact with the car? Does it require access to the phone or does it still work in your pocket etc.

  6. I've downloaded the file from the skoda website. I have extracted the files into a new folder. Do i transfer the new folder onto the SD card containing the files, or do i copy the files within it onto the sd card instead? Sorry if i've confused people.

    Downloaded file onto desktop,

Extracted the .zip file into a new folder i've called sat nav new.

    Sat nav new contains files.

Is it Sat Nav new i copy onto the SD card or just the files within?

    Thank you

  7. Does the hill hold function work on your drive?

    Great colour choice too.

Yeah it holds. If I get too close to the garage door when I Park it up (I drive up at around 5mph) and I need to drop it back it holds without a problem for the few seconds that this feature works for. The handbrake holds the car perfectly however given how steep it is I always leave it in gear on the driveway for safety/ease of mind. Thanks, I'm loving the colour. I don't drive for attention but the car is getting plenty of looks in the 24hours ive owned it and comments positive generally speaking. I would quite go as so far as saying it's a full blown Marmite love it or hate it colour but it's unusual haha

  8. is there some sort of setting to turn this on? I got mine last Saturday and it's doesn't seem to do it.... I'm on an iphone 6....

It's on the phone 'front screen', on the bottom as your hand goes towards the screen. I'd make sure your system is updated (not sure how to do this or if it's even a thing) and your phone software too. As I'm android not sure if it works the same on iPhone.
