  1. Thanks for the further replies - much appreciated. To update I ended up getting a different dealership to quote for the service. Managed to get an Oil and Inspection service for variable servicing, with pollen filter and brake fluid change for £245 all in. However they quoted £967.84 for the cambelt and waterpump and confirmed it is 4.5hrs labour. I've contacted my local VW specialist and they quoted 4 hours and a total of £479 so much more reasonable. I've had the service/inspection/brake fluid done. Looks like I'll be using my local VW specialist for the cambelt.
  2. Hi thanks to everyone for their responses. Despite reading the Ts and Cs several times had missed the VAT part. I tried to use the LiveChat with Skoda UK but after 30 mins they said they weren't allowed to answer my question as they were not registered to give financial advice ( WTF! ). The reason I am asking is that my local Skoda dealership advertises the Skoda fixed prices. As soon as I try to book online and enter my registration/mileage the cheapest service they offer is £200+ for a 1 year/10K mile service much more for a 2 year/20K mile service. My March 2017 Superb TDi 150 manual car is on variable servicing and has two previous services done under the service plan. It is now on 54k miles and is due its third service. Should I be able to get an oil service change for variable servicing for £185? I'm not fussed about the extended scope stuff ( still can't understand if they actually do anything for an extra £60 ), and similarly can swap the pollen filter myself. The car is also due a new timing belt ( and waterpump ) but they are quoting prices from £775 - which seems expensive to me. Anyone had any similar work done recently?
  3. OK, after spending half an hour chatting to Skoda UK via the Livechat - they are unable to confirm whether their advertised fixed price servicing costs are inclusive or exclusive of VAT. This seemed a simple question to me. So my first question: Is the fixed service oil and filter cost £185 inc VAT or ex VAT? Thanks in advance
  4. The seats don't fold flat as the cushions are no longer hinged to lift out of the way as per the MkII - probably as a cost cutting exercise. I have the VBF in my MkIII and I think it is too fragile, too fiddly and a waste of money. I agree the MkII had a better use of space regardless of the stats on volume.
  5. Ivor, just tried this on the way home from work for you with different results to Dave. I set mine to max cold LO and waited for the aircon to get up to speed ( and very cold ). Pressed the windscreen Max button and the airflow changed to the windscreen but was then warm. Car is 17 plate 150 TDi L&K Regards Andrew
  6. I had the emergency brake cut in for the first time yesterday whilst reversing out of the driveway as a car flew past the entrance. As it was the first time I had experienced this in a month of ownership I was pretty impressed with the system. This morning it did exactly the same thing, except this time there was no traffic, stray cat or anything in sight - so now less impressed. I always reverse out of my driveway so not sure why it got it so wrong this morning - will need to keep an eye out for it. As for the electronic handbrake, mine seems to hold for too long at driveaway on occasions causing me to almost stall the car. The more worrying symptom is when you come to a halt on a hill and you apply the handbrake, only to find after a few seconds the light on the console goes out and the car rolls backwards. Not impressed with the electronic handbrake ( even with Hill Hold ), you definitely have less control of the vehicle than with a conventional handbrake. I'm almost at the 1000 mile mark, so maybe I will write a review of my findings then.
  7. Mine arrived in the country in January, delivered March and the wheels were the correct anthracite ones. I don't normally like non-silver wheels but I think they look pretty good on my car ( Business Grey ).
  8. When I added my favourite contacts the photos automatically came from the phone ( Nexus 6P ) which I thought was quite neat. I then decided to update the photos on my phone for better ones but the car photos didn't change ( suggesting the car stores them independently ). If you then add the favourites again they were updated to the latest selected photo on the phone. I've yet to have a contact with a photo ring me whilst in the car - so can't say whether the photo flashes up on screen when the phone rings.
  9. I viewed my L&K ready for collection on March 1st. It is fitted with Conti Sport 5s, which is a relief - don't think I would be happy with Hankooks. As others have said when I come to change them will probably go for something a bit quieter - probably Michelins.
  10. After what seemed quite a faff, I've now finally got written confirmation that the car will be registered on March 1st so all is good now. I need to decide whether to take out the service plan, which on the face of it at £279 for the first two services seems a saving over paying for them. I also need to decide whether to go for the fixed or variable servicing - anyone got any pros or cons?
  11. That's good news sounds like our cars were probably built alongside each other. I'll probably get a boot protector but have yet to order one. The mats should come as standard on the L&K. I would be interested to hear what spare wheel you got - I ordered it on mine but the sales staff couldn't tell me which type I would get ( full or space saver ) as I have gone for the variable floor also. Hope you post an update after Wednesday to give us all your first impressions and dealer experience.
  12. It's interesting that my order form didn't have the capital letter wording that others seem to have. As soon as I realised that despite verbally telling the garage that I wanted a '17 plate registration on at least three occasions including at the time of ordering, I had no written confirmation, I put this in writing to the dealership via an email. In a further verbal response I was told that I would be collecting a '17 plate car on March 1st, however the wording of the email confirmation simply states the car will be available for collection on March 1st ( which isn't the same as saying it will be registered on March 1st ). I'm not sure if the dealerships are deliberately trying to be evasive or it is a case of poor language but I can't see why they can't confirm in writing my request for the car to registered on (or after) March 1st.
  13. I would contact them and also put it in writing that you don't want the car registered until March 1st as you want a '17 plate. I was contacted today to say that my car was now built and in the country and was being delivered to the dealership tomorrow (which was something of a shock to say the least). The dealership seemed keen to have it registered before the end of the month, so I have had to remind them (for the third time) that I don't want it registered before March 1st. Considering mine was ordered on November 18th, and the dealership told me that they didn't expect it to arrive any earlier than April, the total build and delivery time was much quicker than I was lead to believe. The good news is that I will get it before the VED rise. I think Skoda need to improve their delivery predictions as there seems to be a big discrepancy between what the dealers are saying and what the factory are doing.
  14. Ordered Friday, 18th Nov - L&K Estate, 150ps diesel, Manual in Business Grey, to replace my S2 Elegance 140 estate. Hill Hold Rear seat release Front seat adjust from rear Smart light assist Spacesaver spare Variable boot floor Door bin I ordered it before the price increase, and was told that delivery could possibly be as late as May 2017 as it was an L&K model. The salesmen I spoke to at the time were trying to convince me to order an SEL Executive as this would be built much quicker as they claimed long delays on L&K models. I stuck to the L&K spec, and said I would prefer pre April 1st for the cheaper road fund license, but resigned myself to it arriving when it was ready. This week I was given a build week of 51, which if true is built 5 weeks from date of order!
  15. I found that the price increase didn't seem to have been communicated to the dealerships very well. Some dealerships I spoke to seemed to be unaware of any price increase, whereas others told me it could be put in place before the 22nd. No sign of an increase on the Skoda website as of this morning. As for the VED changes on 1st April, I also found that the majority of dealerships I spoke to were unaware of the changes, and I had to explain the changes to them. I ordered a factory order car on Friday and would also like a '17 plate but preferably registered before 1st April. Again the story across the dealerships ranged from earliest delivery in January through to May - quite a big uncertainty.
  16. Glad the spot has helped someone - at these prices it is tempting to upgrade from my S2. My local dealer has a number of 15 plate SE L Executives with 6K+ miles for £26K+. NCD are offering new ones for £2K less or an L&K for about the same price. I would expect that in 12 months time the prices will be more in line with the old S2 prices so even better value still.
  17. I noticed the New car discount site is once again showing discounts of upto 22% across the range. Can't believe the pound has rallied against the euro since the drop in deals. Either way - what's not to like!
  18. So the issue has now finally been resolved. Skoda UK tell me my cars engine is identical to the current engine in terms of all specifications except for the emissions ( which I find a little difficult to believe ). The dealership contacted Skoda UK again and improved their offer to me which Skoda UK are also matching to double the new amount. This new figure is more in line with my expectation so I have accepted the offer. In the end neither the dealership nor Skoda UK admitted any responsibility, so this was just a good will gesture. So in the end both the dealership and Skoda UK acted fairly and I am happy that this will be resolved once I receive the compensation. Thanks for all the helpful posts. Andrew
  19. Thanks for all the posts. I had been waiting for a conclusion before posting an update but this has still yet to be resolved. The current situation is that:- Skoda UK are adamant the cars CO2 is higher than the advertised figure and that DVLA are correct. They tell me that the dealership missold the vehicle to me and that my contract is with the dealership. I spoke again to the MD of the dealership ( who I have bought several new cars from over the years ). He is adamant that Skoda had supplied information to dealerships stating that the cars were 119g/km and could be advertised as such. However they can no longer find any evidence of this information on the Skoda dealership website they have access to. The dealership is taking no responsibility and deny they made any mistake. However they are supporting my claim against Skoda as they are adamant my car is as advertised. Thanks to Stuart for his helpful post - I would be interested to know what the build date of his car was to see if it was made before or after my car. I am told the build date for my car was 11 June 2013. I have asked Skoda what specification differences there are between with my car and the brochure/advert specifications I was given, but Skoda don't appear to be able to tell me. I have also taken legal advice and I was told the case was clear cut in that the vehicle was missold to me and that as it does not meet the advertised specification the dealership is in breach of contract. I asked the legal team how they would calculate the cost of the liability and was told that it should be the increased liability over the life of the car, which they calculated to be £800-£1200. So in summary I am hoping that the dealership and Skoda stop passing the blame to each other and accept that I ( the customer ) did not make any mistake. I think the simplest and right outcome would be that Skoda assist in getting the car details changed with DVLA, as there is now other evidence of this occurring to other owners. I will keep the thread posted as to any developments. Thanks for the helpful comments.
  20. Not so - both the Skoda 1/14 brochure and the current Skoda website show the 140bhp Manual Estate as 119g/km. As here http://www.skoda.co.uk/models/new-superb-estate/performance Also a number of dealers ( mine included ) are advertising identical specification used cars with £30 / year road tax. I have taken note of the registration a number of similar cars advertised and if you put them into the DVLA website they are all shown as 119g/km. It appears mine is one of a small number that is not as advertised. So to keep this thread sensible, I would be interested to hear from anyone else who may have the same problem on an early facelift car, and if so what their story is. Please don't post responses telling me that I can afford to pay for the mistake or that you would be happy to accept the mistake - in my mind there is a principle at stake here and it may be about to affect other owners who are unaware of the issue and in a similar position to me. Thanks to everyone who have posted helpful comments to date. In the case of the Renault dealership it sounds like they have done the only fair thing as only time will tell what the additional cost incurred will be.
  21. Just to clarify - the Skoda dealership advertised the car in writing as being £30 tax band - and acknowledge they were mislead by Skoda. Apparently Skoda have confirmed that the first few facelift cars were not as per the brochure - but slightly later VINS are indeed 119g/m as advertised I don't think it is being unreasonable that I don't expect to pay extra each year for a mistake I did not make. I expressly waited for the facelift version to become available for the lower VED rating. I was posting this in case anyone else had had the same problem, not to gauge how happy others would be to accept the mistake.
  22. Dear All, I bought a new Skoda Superb Elegance Estate 2.0TDi 140bhp facelift in January 2014 after waiting for the new facelift cars to become available with the lower VED rating from the 119g/m rating. At the time I was considering buying the car the dealership told me the car was VED band C, and would cost me £30 a year to tax in road fund license - which was a decisive factor in my purchase. So after spending a year telling everyone I knew how pleased I was that the road tax renewal would only be £30 a year, I was a little surprised to find my DVLA renewal showed the car to be in the next band as they claimed it was 121g/m and a bill for £110. I contacted my dealership who were confident that the DVLA had made a mistake and left it with them to sort out. After three weeks they have now contacted me to tell me the bad news that the car is indeed 121g/m and not as it was described when I bought it. I am quite annoyed that I was sold a car told it was VED band C, and given a sales brochure that gives the same information only to be told that the car is not as stated. Currently the road fund license increases from £30 to £110 from band C to D, so a hike of 366% or £80 a year. My dealership has offered to pay £200 as an offer of goodwill, but I have currently declined this as clearly this mistake is going to be an ongoing additional cost across the life of the car. I also think that this adversely affects the value of my car if I was to sell it anytime in the future. I thought I would check if anyone else has had the same problem and how it was fairly resolved. Any advice as to how I escalate this to include Skoda UK would be helpful, as I can't believe they can mislead customers like this and take no action. Thanks Andrew
