  1. Had a little trip to France for the Course de cote de La Harmoye and everywhere I parked the 230 it attracted a lot of attention...Never had to queue to get into my own car before ...I didn't take a lot of pic's of her but here's one from the paddock...
  2. Here we are at the Course de cote de La Harmoye last weekend...
  3. I vote black but only because I have a Black Combi 230. I was a bit worried that the black wheels would be a little lost but it was the right choice for me and looks the Dogs Danglies IMHO It gets a lot of attention when she's parked up....
  4. Today was the first day I got a chance to give the car a good wash and polish....I got a Autoglym hamper for Christmas and they are a good product overall... I have a new Black 230 arriving in June and I'm beginning to wonder if I should have stuck with white... :D :D
  5. Just Ordered a new vRS 230 Estate and I should have it the first week in June...Just have to wait and see....went for Black this time as I didn't fancy the white... Should look like this....
  6. Have to agree, I found it the same fully loaded, forget about expensive mods to the suspension, just chuck two bags of cement into the boot and away you go.
  7. Just back from our annual trip to the Course de côte de Saint-Gouëno in France, I covered about 2900km's and the VRS preformed perfectly. I was fully loaded down and had a roof box too; the rails are Lidl's finest and worked as they should. I used a Garmin SatNav and it never put a foot wrong...the VRS just munched the miles effortlessly on the motorway, the weather wasn't really kind to us, but we are used to rain at home While I was there I stuck in some 98 Ron unleaded to see what difference if any, I didn't really notice anything on a short trip. But I did return a respectable 38mpg overall, not bad considering its a Turbo petrol and the car was well loaded down, Especially on the way back after a trip to Auchan The picture is from the Paddock in Saint-Gouéno and the Radical behind me is one of the Team Ireland cars. (Mods feel free to remove the pic if deemed Inappropriate)

  9. After almost twelve months of ownership I decided to do a mini report. SPEC: Octavia VRS TSI Estate white, Black pack and rear tints. I have just done the first 10K miles service and the engine used no oil from new, I was checking it manually once a week. No faults were reported or found. It will need new tyres on the front shortly, and I’ll stick with the Bridgestone’s as fitted as they are good all rounder’s. M.P.G for the clock watchers…well if you drive like a granny you can easily achieve 44+ m.p.g, but where’s the fun in that. On the road the TSI engine goes like stink, and you can leave most other drivers feeling like they are in reverse as you pull away out of sight. Yes, an estate that accelerates that fast does leave them wondering. Get her rolling in second and red line it all the way through the gears and you’ll know what I mean! Handling though is not its strong point, under hard acceleration you can get Tramping and it rolls a fair bit in the corners. The standard Brake’s on the car are adequate, however, I had four –pot Brembo callipers in my 159 Ti and the braking was much better and the pedal travel a lot less. On the road it’s an excellent mile muncher, I found even after a long stint behind the wheel I was still feeling fresh. The boot can swallow a fair bit even without the seats down; with them down you can practically lug most large items with ease. I love the little things like been able to change the lights for driving in Europe...lots of "Well, they have thought about everything" moments even after a year. Would I buy another…well yes, and it would be another TSI. I drove diesels for years and will never go back. If I was going to keep her I would definitely sort the handling and brake’s, and maybe add a few extra BHP with Bluefin etc. We’ll see how it goes. That’s about it…
  10. I have almost 6000Km (3728 in old money) and i regularly get 34-36 mpg on rual roads. I was in France a few weeks ago and on the m-way the computer was saying I was getting almost 41mpg at a steady 130KmPh which is about 80mph. For a petrol estate it is pretty good I think. Now and again I take it for a good old fashioned Italian tune-up
  11. I had a run last week to pick up some materials for a wardrobe I was building at home. It was pouring rain so I left off the roofbars and loaded the 8’X24” sheets into the back. They stuck out by a foot or so and I fastened the tailgate securely. I was driving along and boy does she sound good when you hold a gear longer, it has a very subtle growl from the back. Nice, very nice. Tell you one thing, if you get a nice rolling start from first, boy does she fly..whooo hoooo  i should say its a VRS TSI combi
  12. I suppose if you are a bank robber its the ultimate accessory.
  13. I had been driving diesel's for over ten years before I bought my VRS Tsi and I can tell you I won't be going back to diesel again in a hurry. A petrol car is just that much better to drive, and if you don't do a lot of miles, well then you should opt for the petrol engine. A lot of folks here are getting good MPG from that engine. Best of luck with choice and happy motoring
  14. Super looking, best of luck of luck with the new motor.
