I've got one in White, wish I'd gone for Silver or the Metallic Blue that was on offer but hey ho its served me well.

Usually the dashboard instrumentation is only illuminatied when the headlights are on. However sometimes it lights up due to a sensor detecting low light conditions when the lights are off. Anyone know the loacation of this sensor and if it can "tricked" into keeping the dash lit up all of the time?

Why do Skoda persist with the lower powered MPI engine for the new model? It was dropped from the latest Polo less than a year from launch and has never been an option on the latest Ibiza either. 60/65 hp is just not enough nowadays and must be the lowest power engine available in any new car on sale today.....

And it took then two years to get the app working as well.

Phone app is terrible I've hardly ever used it and the cradle your phone sits in blocks most of the airflow from the central vents. The app didn't even work properly until they were forced to make an effort when the electric Citigo came out two years later.

In the region of £3500 I'd imagine.

Sums up where Skoda are at now tbh. Took them a couple of years to get the app working properly in the first place and now they don't sell the Citigo anymore they don't give a toss its stopped working correctly.

Well I got the service done a few days ago at the second attempt (turned up a week before that, booked over the phone but receptionist had no record of it lol). £249 for basically an oil and filter change, new spark plugs and MOT. Brake strip/clean (£60) and brake fluid change (£60) both classed as "extras" which I quite happily declined. They didn't even bother to fill the windscreen washer fluid. I won't bother darkening their door again.

I'm not but I've heard stories of Skoda servicing involving items being "replaced if neccesary" but the punter being charged for them regardless if they are or not. The ultimate example being the 5 year cam-belt rip off. In europe its classed as inspection only, but not in the good olde UK where you're expected to stump up almost £500 for it regardless if its needs changing or not......

Hang on, so they charge for spark plug changes but don't change them? Isn't that fraud?

As this seems to have sparked some debate I'd thought I'd give a little update. Up to now I've had all the previous services done at the main dealer, so I decided to contact them and see if they could do any sort of discount. Managed to get them down to £249 all in (less the air con service which I don't care about). Still about £100 more than I would pay at an idependent but for the sake of that amount I've decided to go with them in the hope it will give me some good will if I have any out of warranty problems in the next year. One thing is certain though, I won't be stumping up the thick end of £500 for a cam belt replacement next year!

So my Citigo will turn 4 years old next month. Normally by now I would have chopped it in for another new car, but due to the continuing covid carry on and economic uncertainly I've decided to hang onto it for another year or two at least. Which brings me on to the cost of getting the next service done at the main dealer. Oil and service inspection £184, Pollen filter £35, Spark plugs £99, Air con service (lol) £139 and finally MOT £39. £496 all in. Seriously? That's about a sixth of the part ex value of the car that is now out of warranty anyway. I'll be getting an oil and filter change, new plugs and the MOT done elsewhere and will probably still have change from £150. I guess enough mugs must still be happy to pay whatever and allow them to charge their extrotionate sums.

As far as I'm aware the need for a spare wheel or a tyre repair kit is not part of any MOT requiremnet.
