  1. Well guys, tiz time to move on as my 0% pcp is ending. Had 3 years of great motoring with the sport but its worth less than I owe.

Had some great compliments from people about the car and it has been mainly trouble free but I wont buy another one coz I think they are to basic for the price now.

Hope all your Rapids work well and buy for now

    Ade

  2. Was it definitely a minor service i.e. oil and filter change?

Skoda have now introduced an 'inspection' service which is just that, a visual inspection, no parts or fluids are renewed.

If you got oil and an oil filter that was a cracking price.

Yep, service book stamped, inspection report, oil and filter change. £49.99

Was a service sale on and it had to be done between the 29th and 31st of Dec. I was off anyway so thought get it done

can soon change the air and pollen filter myself. thought it was a waste to have a major service at £279 as it has only done 12k in 2yrs

  3. Hi everyone,

My rapid sport is due for its second service. I had it serviced last year which was a a minor service I think the mileage was 7k and it cost approx 130.

I have received a offer of a service which is half price at 49 quid but it is only a minor service and apparently it needs a major service.

Do you think it needs a major service at 259 quid as the mileage is now only 11.5k So yep only done 4K since last service.

Does anyone know what extra do they do in a major as opposed to a minor service

Thanks in advance everyone and merry christmas

  4. DTUK FSR tuning box from Shark is £479,the one above is £417.

Pretty much highlighted from the get go I wasn't interested in a remap, on a 14plate car it's just silly.

Also, not easily swung by figures... Hence this thread, to educate myself and decide what's best, Revo, Shark and Racechip are all recommended so of course I'm going to compare, and more power for the same/less money anyone would steer towards that.

Shark might be on my doorstep, and I am not ruling them out. I doubt any business would give an unbiased opinion however!

Did you end up getting the rapid chipped ?

  5. Hi All

I've been intending to order and fit the Skoda supplied -30mm Eibach's to my newly purchased Rapid Spaceback Black Ed.

A problem I'm having is with my local dealer.. a multi-franchise operation that I will refrain from naming (and shaming) at this precise moment (but if you live in Jersey you will know exactly who they are), who whilst using the tag line 'Driving down the cost of motoring' in their advertising, want to charge me £200.00 for the springs and £400 to fit them.

As a regular (daily) follower of the Rapid forum I've come to notice several threads posted by those who have been quoted, have or will shortly be having the Skoda supplied Eibach's fitted to their Sport's or Spaceback's, in virtually every case for massively less (at around £200-250) than the rip-off price (£600) my dealer is trying to charge.

At the time of purchasing my Octavia III vRS a few months ago, I had the -40mm H&R's I had purchased elsewhere (for €157) fitted by this dealer at a cost of £400, which was a 'special deal' they did for me, their original quoted price being £600 (and remember this is for fitting only as I supplied the springs), and I've since found numerous posts on the Octavia III forum by other owners who have had the same springs fitted for considerably less (at between £80-150 labour).

I've bought 3 brand new cars from this dealer in the past 5 months (the aforementioned Octavia III vRS 2.0 TDi DSG estate and Rapid Spaceback 1.2TSi Black Ed., together with the Fabia II 1.2 TSi DSG I purchased for my parents), spending over £57K in the process, and I'm starting to feel like they're taking the pi** and ripping me off.

So… I intend to take the dealer (and specifically their workshops) to task over the matter, and therefore have a request of my fellow Briskoda followers/Rapid owners.

Whilst I've compiled a basic list of those who have posted the costs of having their Eibach's supplied and fitted, could I ask all those who have gone down this road to post to this particular thread as I intend to confront the dealer armed with as much evidence of other peoples costs/experiences as possible!

    Thanks.

Skoda supplied and fitted for just over £211 by local Skoda dealer to my Rapid Sport.  That is a disgusting price you're being quoted!

I paid the same as turboman £211 all in, but they are the skoda springs

  6. Hello

Does anyone have the genuine Skoda sill trims factory or dealer fitted to their Rapid (or Spaceback)?

If so, could you please post some close-up pics of the front and rear trims in place (or please post some measurements of how far away they are from something like the overlaps in the floor trim, something I can use for reference), I'd like to double-check the locations for fitting.

I've just offered them up to the sills and it's not 100% clear where I should locate them, and I'd like to avoid spending another £20+ on the positioning templates.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Chris

Hope these help. Self explanatory really. Genuine skoda part and fitment

front door one shows measurement from the join in the plastic strip that is located towards the front half of the trim

The rear show the measurement from the door hinge

  7. Thinking about whether to use the Octavia vRS ot Rapid Sport to tow our van.  The current van is too heay for the Rapid (if i'm reading in to it correctly) but we may be down sizing anyway.

How does it cope?  Even solo, the Rapid seems to be affected by side winds quite a bit so i'm a little sceptical......

    Can you help please?

    Cheers, David

They are all affected by side winds due to the HUuuuuuuuuuGE gap between the wheel arch and the wheel.

Since lowering mine, it handles 100% better in medium to harsh windy conditions

  8. I have the same issue.

Mine is defo from the front nearside suspension area and it is very prominent when going over speed bumps.

TBH I've just given up bothering with the bag of Shi*e that I have bought and will NOT be buying another skoda.

As the advert goes, Simply clever. My arse.

My new moto is, Simply Shi*e
