  1. Contacted my dealer on Friday and was quoted 25 weeks for a 1lt estate or 20 weeks for the 1.5 lt
  2. Hi skodafan99 Thanks for the feedback, this was exactly the type of feedback that I was looking for, real life in the exact car I've booked a test drive with a 1lt in Glasgow as soon as lockdown eases, hopefully some time in February They have offered me a fantastic trade in offer for my Audi so want to move this project on asap Thanks again Rob
  3. HI BA Baracus Interesting that you had that thought also, having had a good read at the 1.5 lt reviews I think it's the way to go, it's basically the same engine that's in my current Audi so no drop off in performance. Just need to get out of level 4 so I can have a test drive
  4. Thanks for all the feed back, had a chat with Skoda (Glasgow) yesterday and I've been quoted 12 -15 weeks for delivery which is a long time for a 'standard car' . I've been offered a fantastic trade in price for the Audi which will drop if I have to wait 15 weeks, so I'm looking at taking a 'in stock' car. Unfortunately, there are no 1lt estates 'in stock' in the UK so it's looking like a 1.5 lt in metallic (black, blue, silver or grey). Only challenge it's £50 per month more than I wanted to pay (I know £50 is not a lot of money, however, as it's a company car and I do have budget constraints)
  5. Fastest car I've every driven, I can understand why Top gear gave it 10/10
  6. Hi Alecs Sadly not so easy to test. In Scotland we are in complete lock down and Skoda don't know when we can have a car to test drive.
  7. Thanks for the replies, I agree with BA Baracus regarding the size and weight of the Octavia and tbh that's my main concern. Over the years I've had may cars that a so low in power they are almost dangerous (eg overtaking on a B road) Having said all that, if it drives around town and on the motorway ok then I'll be happy The Octavia will be used as my sensible company car, my other ‘company car’ (Toyota Yaris GR 4) comes in May
  8. You are right about the Polo, we have a new style one (95bhp) and it's a cracker of a car. Sadly, we can't get a test drive just now (massive lock down in Scotland), however, good shout about looking at a Golf. Thanks
  9. Hi Thought I would drop in and ask for some advice (my last visit to the forum was back in 2017 (sorry went over to Audi for a few years). Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a review on the Octavia 1.0 TSI Normally I would be looking at leasing a VRS, however, lease deals are just crazy just now and I can’t justify the prices they are asking!! If anyone has driven one I would love to get your feedback, I know it will be slow, but is it driveable? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the replies, looking like I’ve just a wee bit unlucky. To be fair to Skoda after speaking to a couple of neighbours who both run Nissans they both have had electrical issues in one case back at the dealers 5 times so Skoda is not alone. I know we go on about cars being electronically complex, however, they are not that complex the data communication between modules is well established in the electronic / computing industry. I think it’s the old problem of car electronics being designed by engineers and costed by accountants plus a low understanding of electronics and systems by most (not all) car mechanics employed in franchised dealerships. Ho hum, now for the onslaught from all the mechanics on the forum!
  11. Over the last three weeks I’ve had some problems with the electrics. First was the electrical breakdown two weeks ago (quickly sorted by Skoda assistance), then the head light failure warning display last week (all lights ok) which took a couple of days but was sorted by Henry’s Glasgow (great company very impressed). Tonight on the way home from the office with the fuel range down to 20 miles, stopped for fuel after which the fuel range displayed instead of reading approx. 250 miles read 0 miles. (All the other functions work ok). Used the car a lot tonight visiting customers and constantly checked the fuel range which still reading 0 miles (sensor fault?). Ok, so no big deal I can live without a fuel range display, however, having three electrical problems in three weeks doesn’t inspire confidence in the integrity of the cars electrical system. Is electrical issues common with the mk 3? It so annoying as I still really like the car.
  12. Cheers allan1888 Thanks for the positive feedback, just spoke to a friend who also gives Henry's a great review. Hopefully, my trust in Skoda is restored. Thanks Robert
