  1. Contacted my dealer on Friday and was quoted 25 weeks for a 1lt estate or 20 weeks for the 1.5 lt
  2. Hi skodafan99 Thanks for the feedback, this was exactly the type of feedback that I was looking for, real life in the exact car I've booked a test drive with a 1lt in Glasgow as soon as lockdown eases, hopefully some time in February They have offered me a fantastic trade in offer for my Audi so want to move this project on asap Thanks again Rob
  3. HI BA Baracus Interesting that you had that thought also, having had a good read at the 1.5 lt reviews I think it's the way to go, it's basically the same engine that's in my current Audi so no drop off in performance. Just need to get out of level 4 so I can have a test drive
  4. Thanks for all the feed back, had a chat with Skoda (Glasgow) yesterday and I've been quoted 12 -15 weeks for delivery which is a long time for a 'standard car' . I've been offered a fantastic trade in price for the Audi which will drop if I have to wait 15 weeks, so I'm looking at taking a 'in stock' car. Unfortunately, there are no 1lt estates 'in stock' in the UK so it's looking like a 1.5 lt in metallic (black, blue, silver or grey). Only challenge it's £50 per month more than I wanted to pay (I know £50 is not a lot of money, however, as it's a company car and I do have budget constraints)
  5. Fastest car I've every driven, I can understand why Top gear gave it 10/10
  6. Hi Alecs Sadly not so easy to test. In Scotland we are in complete lock down and Skoda don't know when we can have a car to test drive.
  7. Thanks for the replies, I agree with BA Baracus regarding the size and weight of the Octavia and tbh that's my main concern. Over the years I've had may cars that a so low in power they are almost dangerous (eg overtaking on a B road) Having said all that, if it drives around town and on the motorway ok then I'll be happy The Octavia will be used as my sensible company car, my other ‘company car’ (Toyota Yaris GR 4) comes in May
  8. You are right about the Polo, we have a new style one (95bhp) and it's a cracker of a car. Sadly, we can't get a test drive just now (massive lock down in Scotland), however, good shout about looking at a Golf. Thanks
  9. Hi Thought I would drop in and ask for some advice (my last visit to the forum was back in 2017 (sorry went over to Audi for a few years). Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a review on the Octavia 1.0 TSI Normally I would be looking at leasing a VRS, however, lease deals are just crazy just now and I can’t justify the prices they are asking!! If anyone has driven one I would love to get your feedback, I know it will be slow, but is it driveable? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the replies, looking like I’ve just a wee bit unlucky. To be fair to Skoda after speaking to a couple of neighbours who both run Nissans they both have had electrical issues in one case back at the dealers 5 times so Skoda is not alone. I know we go on about cars being electronically complex, however, they are not that complex the data communication between modules is well established in the electronic / computing industry. I think it’s the old problem of car electronics being designed by engineers and costed by accountants plus a low understanding of electronics and systems by most (not all) car mechanics employed in franchised dealerships. Ho hum, now for the onslaught from all the mechanics on the forum!
  11. Over the last three weeks I’ve had some problems with the electrics. First was the electrical breakdown two weeks ago (quickly sorted by Skoda assistance), then the head light failure warning display last week (all lights ok) which took a couple of days but was sorted by Henry’s Glasgow (great company very impressed). Tonight on the way home from the office with the fuel range down to 20 miles, stopped for fuel after which the fuel range displayed instead of reading approx. 250 miles read 0 miles. (All the other functions work ok). Used the car a lot tonight visiting customers and constantly checked the fuel range which still reading 0 miles (sensor fault?). Ok, so no big deal I can live without a fuel range display, however, having three electrical problems in three weeks doesn’t inspire confidence in the integrity of the cars electrical system. Is electrical issues common with the mk 3? It so annoying as I still really like the car.
  12. Cheers allan1888 Thanks for the positive feedback, just spoke to a friend who also gives Henry's a great review. Hopefully, my trust in Skoda is restored. Thanks Robert
  13. Hi allan1888 Update on Skoda Henry Glasgow, dropped in after work today, first impressions great, sales guy even had a look at the problem himself. Was impressed that although the sales guy (Derek) was retail, he was still willing to help a fleet customer. He's given me the contact details for both their service manager and fleet manager. Let's hope the service manager is also as good.
  14. Hi Allan1888 Thinking of booking into Henrys, how do you rate them? Also, how do you like the vrs, the best part (only?) of running your own business is choosing the next company car. Would love a petrol vrs, however, if Skoda service is c**p will consider GTI or C class. How do Skoda expect to expand the company market, (ok as a company we only run 3 cars) but come on!
  15. My Dad used to say, no names, no pack drill (WW2 RAF), however dealer based in Hamilton
  16. Thing is I still love the car, great on fuel and very good performance. Just wish the Skoda service people loved it as much as it’s customers!
  17. Sorry rant warning. After my electrical break down earlier this week, the Skoda roadside assistance technician recommended getting the car check out asap. Emailed the breakdown report and booked the car for today informing the service manager that I needed the car back for 1:00pm – promised not a problem. Dropped the car off at 9:00am and returned at 1:00pm, car still in same position. That’s a coincidence I thought the garage parking the car exactly in the same position… Greeted with couldn’t find any problem no fault codes showing, when I asked why the system was displaying bulb failure the answer was oh. He would have another look (1st look?) After 60 minutes my patience had reached the end. (the car has been in the garage for 5 hours by now!!) Now one thing I dislike is when people try to fob you off and when service manager tried to ‘explain to me the problem’ I just listened to this complete rubbish about ohms, current and voltage. (my degree is in electronic engineering). So bottom line, after 5 hours in the garage no problem detected and no idea why the system was displaying a bulb failure warning. When dropping the car off I asked the sales manager how was business ‘very slow’ he replied May be, I know why…
  18. Interesting post, changing my 150 Mk 3 next year which I love. I’m considering a vrs, however, would also consider a 150 4x4 simply for the better traction in wet weather. So very interested in real life mpg for the 150 4x4
  19. Gabbo you were on the money, contacted Skoda roadside assistance this morning who sent a technician to the house (very prompt and professional). Turns out to be ‘Engine control module lost comms with instrument panel’. The fix was to hard reset by removing the battery lead, however, a fault message flagged up tonight indicating bulb failure, checked the bulbs and all ok, so it’s looking like there are still issues. I think it would be best to book the car in for a full diagnostics sooner rather than later.
  20. Just had a final try at starting the car and things have moved on, when you remove the ignition key all the warning lights now stay on for about 5 -7 minutes. So I think the problem is with the ignition switch, will contact Skoda in the morning and update.
  21. Just a bit annoyed because I need a car for my business and tomorrow has now gone to pot. Having said that since the Skoda garage is only a few miles from my office (once I get there!!) I might badger them into giving me a loan of a vrs. Quite fancy a vrs as the next company car and a few days on extended test would be nice.
  22. Visited a customer tonight luckily in the same village (only 400m from where I live), when I tried to start the car all warning lights came on and stayed on (glow plug light etc) When the start motor was engaged it kept on turning even when the key was released, so very much looking like an ignition switch problem. (also no power to the electric windows). My wife is finding it all 'very amusing' as the last car she had to tow was in 2002 which was our Fabia bought new in 2000. We traded it in for a Ford after Skoda had 4 attempts to fix it. Have to say, otherwise in the 14months 18600 miles the car has been great, however, as I run the car as part of my business reliability is paramount and my confidence in the car has been knocked. Has anyone else had electrical problems with the Octavia Mk3?
