I occasionally do a 14 mile each way commute, the roads aren't great so I leave early to avoid the bulk of the traffic. I will probably do this more frequently now I'm running a thirsty car!

Fastest I managed was a 22mph average! Would love a Planet X London road for the commute, just can't justify it at the min.

I was lucky enough to get my London Road in one of Planet X's ludicrous sales, it's always worth keeping an eye on their website for bargains.

  2. I Bike to work most days, except in fog and if the roads are icy.  My commute is relatively short as it's only six miles or so.  It's all downhill going to work but hard work up the hills coming home.  My commuter is a Planet X London Road, I'm self-employed so don't have access to the Cycle to Work Scheme.

Love cycling to work, makes me fell fresher and more ready to face the day!

Here's my 4 bikes - been a club cyclist for over 50 years and still enjoy it, even in this weather! Use the Ribble and Brian Rourke in Summer and the Planet X is the Winter bike with lovely hydraulic discs. Trek MTB is for occasional use, often when out with the grandchildren

Your London Road looks very tidy in zesty lime, I have one for commuting and I absolutely love it, mine is in 'Dragon Blue' as they'd sold out of the Zesty Lime when I bought it.  I opted for Crud Roadracer 3 mudguards though after what seemed like an eternity trying to fit proper guards!

  4. Not totally sure, I am having it looked at again (second opinion) on Monday, but have been told it needs a new exhaust - it's blowing like hell, think it's the middle section, with the box? (No laughing at my lack of knowledge please!). Aftermarket or standard, aren't fussed about noise etc.

    Not much help, eh? :-)

    Thanks

  5. Hi all, not posted much at all but am an avid reader of the forum and have found it really helpful. I am hoping someone can offer some advice on a good value replacement exhaust system for my MK1 vRS.

The car is bog standard, 70k miles and I absolutely love it, sadly this is not a 'money no object' job, so a good value system or where to buy second hand would be a bonus.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Hi All,

I'm Dave and I live in Morley just outside Leeds, I recently bought my first ever Skoda, a 2005 Octavia Mk1 vRS in black, it's bog standard, in great nick and I absolutely love it.

I used to drive a Saab and thought I'd never find a car that I enjoyed driving more than my old 9-3, how wrong I was!

I've been enjoying reading the forum a for few weeks and found the vRS buyers guide to be really useful.

    Cheers,

    Dave
