  1. Hi guys, just bought a cracking little 2013 sport which has the optional 16” alloys on which look mint. sadly there is no spare wheel and I would like to add one for peace of mind. I’m assuming a full size 16” alloy and tyres will not fit in the boot space. my query is will a 14” space saver and tyre be the same rolling radius? if not what size space saver do I need. cheers in advance
  2. Update! Went ok, touch wood. Managed to route new cables, all wrapped tightly in cloth tape, down rear pillar and under sill trim all way to back of new head unit. Fitted microphone. Spliced in a switch live feed for the DAB aerial, did a hand brake bypass so DVD plays all the time and it all works great, very pleased. Toughest part was getting the damn double din cage in that gap! I will admit I used a lump hammer and a block of wood to 'persuede' it in, haha. Cruise control going into today and then thats it, one happy bunny. Loving the VRS
  3. Hi Guys, had a go at fitting a new roof mount DAB aerial today, it took a while and some swearing but finally got all the cables routed to [passenger footwell and didn't break a clip Left with one piece of trim to go in and it the passenger side sill piece. when I removed it, it popped out from under neath the trim piece on the centre piller (the one behind the passengers seat belt). BUT i can not get it to go back in due to the length it can't bend enough to go up under neath the trim piece again. I thought ok I will remove the seat belt trim piece BUT no matter how hard I pull it won't budge and Im scared ill break it. Any help please guys?!?! Is it just clipped in place? Thanks Matt
  4. thanks guys, youtube helped, relay wired ready for install. any tips on routing new aerial cable from roof to back of hu
  5. So any ground then? to the body of the car or the body of the stereo or even splice into ground wire?
  6. The DAB coverage in Cornwall isn't the best so thats why I've gone full bore with the roof aerial, can see it being fun and games lol
  7. Hi guys Goignt o be removing my aerial mast and base and installing a new dab/fm aerial. Amplified will not be needed so will be running new cables all way from aerial to head unit. Anyone done this? Got a guide? tips? Where does the previous cable run please? Maybe I can disconnect both ends and tie string to one and pull it through? Matt
  8. Think i am going to ditch original plan of using windscreen stick on aerial and invest in a quality roof mounted dab/fm aerial. I just have a few questions so please any help would be great: Where does the power lead go? its short so do i need to extend it or is there a nice power lead to the boot somewhere i can scotch lock into? Will i need the skoda ampler bit anymore as the Kinetic unit is amplified already. if i bypass the skoda amplifier to the head unit i assume this means i would need to run a new aerial lead for fm to the head unit. Whats best route for routing new cables from roof hole to stereo? Will I need one of those pc-502 jobs? Matt
  9. Hi Guys, Just won a pioneer AVH-x3500dab from the bay. I want to bypass the hand brake function so videos/dvds will play whilst in motion. I have seen numerous videos on youtube but in one the chap simply took the lead and put a connector on it then screwed it to the actual metal body of the head unit. Will this work? Or would splicing it into another cable back there be better? Many thanks Matt
  10. Yes I saw the Whitelines ones at almost £100!!! Think I would rather buy EZ
  11. Did you have 4 wheel alignment done? I can't afford tires every 7 months :(
  12. Which EZ shims do I need as i can't find ones for a fabia?
  13. I am putting Uniroyals on so don't want them to wear, not cheap! Are ez shims worth it? Where can you buy them for the VRS?
  14. How do I diagnose worn rear shocks? Not much of a mechanic, sorry Are real axle bushes expensive?
  15. True! never even thought of that :( duh! Well having all bushes checked etc. Then going to a place that uses the Hunter alignment system Hopeuflly that will solve it all
  16. Im off to the garage tomorrow so I will have him look. If bushes or bent beam, how much?
  17. Hi Guys, Annoyed doesn't cut it. Not had car long and needed wheels balanced so attended local tyre establishment, 2 minutes later "would you like to com and look at this sir?" BAD NEWS!! Front are cracked, which i assume is just old cheap nasty tyres. BUT, rears and bald only on inside edge, rest has loads of tread left. Ordered new tyres on Camskill but not fitted yet as worried they will go same way fast. Should I check anything or is it likely to be tracking? Matt
  18. Damn it! No buzzer = left lights on and ran battery down :( Do you reckon it will be ok after a jump start and a good drive? Or new battery needed? Will have to sort buzzer, any guides? how to's?
  19. Hi Guys, Trying to install my Sony HU into my 2005 fabia VRS and its driving me nuts. It will NOT hold its memory when i take the key out. I have tried the red and yellow wires BOTH ways round, checked the fuse in the stereo, checked the fuse in the car and still won't hold memory. Stereo works fine, had it in my previous car no problem. I bought the aerial booster thing, and I have connected that blue wire to the blue wire on the back of my sony HU which the manual says is power antenna. PLEASE HELP!!!!
  20. No waring sounds so guess its that buzzer unit, I will live with the silence i think lol Back to the stereo, any ideas?? Would the fuse in the car affect the memory??
  21. Yes I'm storing things right, I used the stereo in my previous car without problem. I have tried the red and yellow wires every way round and as soon as I take the key out and then restart there is NO memory. So annoyed. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Hi Guys, Back to a Skoda and very happy with my VRS. Just a few questions please: My rear washer doesn't work, I can hear it whirring when i push the stalk but no fluid comes out, any ideas? I want to put my sony stereo in, no problem I thought, BUT i have tried the wires both ways round IE red - red and yellow - yellow AND red- yellow and yellow- red. Both work BUT don't hold memory, lots of swearing later I am stumped!! HELP Also, when I put indicators on there is NO click noise, is this usual?? Thanks Matt
