Has anyone got any experience fitting a CarPlay compatible head unit into Skoda Fabia mk2 that currently has the Skoda supplied satnav/dab radio.
If so can you point out any things to be aware before I buy anything?
thanks in advance

toni8b - that's just what I don't want to do. You then end up driving the car like a manual. Fuel economy should be provided by selecting "E" mode on the DSG. "D" should provide a smooth drive through all the gears with no hesitations. Sure "S" mode gives it to you at low speed but then you end up over revving the car. "D" should provide a happy medium through all gears with no hesitations.
The difference between eco and drive is nothing, stick it in drive and leave it there.

Also made video of
looks amazing! You see the sport line spec, it's a stunner!

No, apple only allow certain apps to be accessed from the car, I would say apple maps works as well as google maps for directions in my experience. You can start google maps in the background and it will read out the directions for you, I believe.

If your that worried about runnning out, stick a can in the boot!

If you follow the simple to use instructions from the thread, they are pretty simple to do, chances of bricking your car are very small.

You also have to be careful with insurance, unless the manufacturer specifies winter tyres as sutible for there vehicles you will invalidate your insurance I believe.

I don't think any skoda has wireless CarPlay

Skids inplementation of CarPlay is buggy in my opinion, it will fine for weeks and then I get a few days where I have to reset the system (press and hold power button until logo reappears) 3 or 4 times in a row. I had my first service the other day and asked if there was any updates to the software and I was told no. I find this hard to believe after a year since it's release.

Or should you let professionals do it?

I quite like it, and besides I don't have to look at the outside of the car when I am driving it

It doesn't work, don't bother!

I like the idea of the virtual cockpit dials!

Typical daily mail crap, they will be blaming it on immigrants in a minute!

I would be very surprised, if they stole it without a key!

Isn't it the case that only Eco mode has the coasting feature in the DSG models? Surely that also gives some reasonable level of economy gain.
On that front I'm amazed on a flat road how long the car retains a decent speed when it goes into this coasting mode.

You would think, but it only coasts when you are not using the cruise control, so if you are like me and spend most of your time on motorways it useless!

I have binned off Eco mode, it makes absolutly no difference to my fuel economy!

Do you have an outcome yet?

Mine used to do this, it was the centre speaker grill, it's settled down now, but take it to a local dealers if your not happy
Fabia II 2010 drivers door lock mechanism problem
in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Posted
I know this is an old topic, but my wife's mk2 has a issue relating to the drivers door lock and this is the closest match I have found.
When locking and unlocking using the remote the lock mechanism seems to move and them seem to rebound as if not moving correctly, I get the same behaviour using the button in the car, but if I use the key in the lock everything works as expected, all doors lock/unlock and alarm engages. I think it's the actual door lock mechanism that's the problem and probably just needs replacing, do we think I am correct or could it be something else?
TIA
