  1. Hi, I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm at my wits' end! I had a bulb warning light come on (Superb L&K 63 plate) for the passenger side dipped beam. It's a xenon bulb. My car was going to my local Skoda garage for a DSG oil change anyway, so they said they would do the bulb for me. They didn't do it on the day because they said they hadn't realised it was a xenon bulb, and it would need to be ordered in specially (£150!). They ordered it in for me and told me to pop down the next day at lunchtime and they would fit it while I waited. I did so, only for them to come out and tell me that they couldn't do it because they didn't realise it would involve removing the bumper. I booked the car in to have it done today. The car has just been returned to me...with the bulb warning light still on! The driver couldn't tell me much but apparently for some reason they couldn't do it AGAIN. I've tried ringing the garage for answers but can't get through yet. It has become farcical. Are these xenon bulbs really so impossible to change?! Is it normal for a Skoda garage to not know how to change bulbs in their own cars?! Do I have any viable alternatives for having this done? I really thought that of all the people in the world, those at a Skoda garage would be the ones to know what is involved to change a bulb. At the moment I'm still driving around with only one headlight, a week after it was booked into the garage to be fixed. And I'm seriously unimpressed with the garage! Is this a notorious issue or am I just massively unlucky?
  2. I also recommend the Guardsman dog guard; they do a divider too. I had both in my previous Octavia and now have a Guardsman guard in my Superb with panoramic roof.
  3. I have a Galaxy Note 4 and just recently started to get an issue with calls dropping out after a few minutes. I can't be sure if it's an issue with the phone or with the Bluetooth module in the car. Does anyone know how I could test this? It works fine when streaming audio from my phone.
  4. My dogs love mine! There's even enough space for a double buggy along with two dogs in the boot :-)
  5. My Note 4 also works perfectly. I seem to remember I had to tick an option in the Bluetooth settings for the pairing on the phone itself to enable the streaming.
  6. Sorry! The car is amazing; I love it. The only problem I've had so far is that it was a nightmare to fit my ISOFIX child seats because getting to the ISOFIX points was almost impossible. However they are now in and all is good. I was surprised that the boot doesn't seem noticeably bigger than my Octavia in terms of width or length but it's still ample. In fact my Octavia boot liner fits well enough for me to not need a new one. I'm loving the DSG box :-)
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :-) Car is due to arrive in half an hour!
  8. I would also recommend the Guardsman guards, especially as they also do a boot divider that can go anywhere you like along the boot. I think the Travall one only allows a 50/50 split. I will soon be selling my Guardsman guard for my Octavia if you're interested?
  9. The Travall guards are amazing. Do you have the variable boot floor in your Octavia?
  10. Really glad you like your Superb! I've just been in a similar position to you; my Superb is being delivered tomorrow after a few years of owning a 55 plate Octavia. I also had the option for a big road trip, but instead went for the dealer delivery option! It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one buying a car I've never seen or driven...
  11. Hi everyone, I last posted a few years ago when I got my 55 plate Octavia L&K estate. I've not posted for ages but have been busy...I now have one year old twins as well as my two dogs, which means a lot to fit in the car The Octavia has been great and the variable boot floor has been a godsend. I strap the double buggy against the back of the back seats using bungee cords hooked onto the dog guard, use vacuum bags under the boot floor for clothes, the dogs have what's left of the boot and other luggage goes in the footwells and on the middle seat in the back. The twins have two extended rear facing seats in my Octavia, but I've found there isn't really enough space for my partner to have his seat in the front as far back as he would like. Enter Superb! My 63 plate Superb Estate L&K DSG is being delivered tomorrow. I am very excited! I've never really driven an automatic before, nor have I ever had anything like Park Assist. The L&K spec in my Octavia has spoiled me a bit; electric heated leather seats were a must this time too! My first mission is going to be working out how to fit together the twin/dog/luggage jigsaw without the variable boot floor so I may well be posting for advice. Hi again, anyway :p
  12. Thanks for the replies. The mystery has now been solved by Maxidot; it is telling me that one of the side light bulbs is out. Sure enough it's now not working, although it was when the generic bulb warning came on. How did it know the bulb was about to go?! Clever car.
  13. I have a 2005 Octavia L&K estate with maxidot. A few weeks ago maxidot told me my passenger side brake light bulb was defective so I replaced it and all was fine. Last night the orange dash bulb warning light came on, with nothing on maxidot telling me which bulb. I've checked headlights, main beam, front fogs, side lights, front indicators, wingmirror indicators, tail lights, rear indicators, all three brake lights, reversing lights, rear fogs, number plate lights and all seem to be working. Unless there are meant to be two rear fog lights? Only one side came on; is that how it should be? Other than that is there anything else I can check and is there any reason why maxidot isn't telling me which bulb this time? Thanks in advance for any help :-)
  14. Mine didn't have an aux port; I bought a cable that you connect at the back to give a (male) aux plug at the front. It works fine although mine might be a different head unit to yours. Worth investigating?
  15. Thanks for that :-) So if I've plugged it into the audio + video bit and it works for audio (which is all I want at the minute), is there any harm in leaving it like that for now?
