  1. So what does no symbol mean, auto switching between dipped & main, depending on speed, street lighting, oncoming traffic etc? Or just dipped? That's what it seems to default back to on each restart. I asked the service receptionist at the dealers, even they didn't know...
  2. I believe it means Model Year. I'm not sure what the differences are, but the guy behind VCDS told me mine was MY2024, based on the scan I sent to him - I need to use the beta version of VCDS:
  3. New vRS with matrix LEX headlights, lighting mode set to Auto. Normally there's no headlight symbol in the dash, but the headlights do seem to come on at night. One pull on the lighting stalk - a white headlight icon appears with "A" in the middle. Second pull on the lighting stalk - a blue headlight icon appears. I assume the blue icon means manual main beam, but what's the difference between no icon and the white "A" one? The manual and infosys help are as clear as mud...
  4. Mine was delivered just under a month ago, and is MY24.
  5. What about VAG-COM, any idea? Or does it require a SFD unlock?
  6. I wish I could say the same about mine - current summary: "It's a bit 💩" The alarm had a spasm on Saturday and wouldn't stop, so now I have a 45-min-each-way trip to the dealer, twice over to get it looked at. The 2nd key fob was broken on delivery so I've had to wait for a replacement one - which means I couldn't use the breakdown assistance button when it had its fit as I can't register the car. Lane "assist" has already tried to steer me into the wrong lane on several occasions, and can't be defaulted to "off". 30mp on a straight urban road, car passes the other way - bloody great red symbol came up in the left of the MFD, no idea what it was as it's not mentioned in the manual. An incorrect collision warning? No idea. The manual gearbox is a bit better. That's about it. I much preferred my Mk III.
  7. Yep, move away and/or put the key down for a while and it will stop. I can't remember where I read it, but apparently the newest version of the KESSY system has two mechanisms to defeat replay attacks. The first is "time of flight" detection, i.e. how long does it take the signal to get from the car to the key and back - replay kit exceeds that limit as it has to detect and retransmit the comms in both directions, and that takes an increased amount of time. The other is the key has a motion sensor in it, if it's stationary then the car won't open, even if it gets a signal from the key.
  8. Same here, mine was delivered late last month after 12 weeks, although I'd been quoted 50 weeks. It's a petrol vRS Combi, manual box, minimal extras.
  9. Yep, that's what I was told when I queried the dealer - they aren't fitting them any more, so if your car isn't fitted with one when delivered, you won't be getting one. Mine was delivered late July without one, although it still has the fitting studs. There is padding on the underside of the bonnet, perhaps that serves the same purpose?
  10. I have a HEX-USB+CAN but it doesn't support my mk4 Octavia vRS. I'm thinking of upgrading it, but before I do I'm wondering if there's a list of adaptations available for the mk4? Stopping lane assist on by default is one I'd like, turning of the stupid synthesised engine noise in sport mode is another. Also, it appears the UK Ross-Tech dealers offer a trade-in, but looking on eBay the asking price for a second hand HEX-USB+CAN seems to be around £200, which I suspect is more than I'd get from a dealer. Anyone have any experiences of selling one? Thanks.
  11. My Octavia vRS Combi delivered on 27th July 2023 doesn't have one. I've queried the dealer, he says he'll give me a call on Monday...
  12. She understands me fine when I ask her to start navigation, but after that she sounds like she's an East German shotputter... More seriously, is it possible to change the satnav voice to a female one?
  13. Ordered my Octavia vRS Combi on 28th April 2023, picked it up yesterday, 27th July 2023 so pretty much exactly 3 months. No, I don't know how either, as I was quoted 50 weeks...
  14. Dealer emailed me today, the build week is 26, so I replied saying "Week 26, 2024 I assume?" Nope, week 26 this year, i.e. 2 weeks away. WTF??? I just paid for a temp car yesterday, on the assumption I'd have a year to wait... I'm not sure whether I should be happy, or ****ed off...
