  1. On recent models, no they can't. One of the fobs on my new Octavia was broken on delivery, the replacement had to come from the factory because keys are now encoded to the VIN of the vehicle. I also needed to take it to a dealer to get it paired to the car - they don't have access to do this directly, it needs a connection to the Skoda mothership. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/17071/post-152354
  2. Get the fob close enough to the car that the red "active" LED on it starts flashing, then put it down. If the LED stops flashing after a minute or so, it has a motion sensor.
  3. Yes, there is. Controller A5, security code 20103, coding, set byte 8 to 0x80. Use the coding assistant, it should make it clear what the options are. And, as ever, copy the current coding first, do this at your own risk etc 🙂 See also https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/38968/ I don't know about the difference between adaptive lane guidance and lane keeping assist, or how to switch between them though.
  4. I suspect you are right - they'll replace them on cars they were removed from, but not fit them on cars that never had them.
  5. Just checked the VIN of mine which is 2 months old - no recall.
  6. The original dealer I spoke to, and got pretty far along the process with, made no mention of the delivery times. But to be fair, the other two I talked to offered the information about delivery dates immediately and without me asking, so I think it varies a lot from dealer to dealer. The dealer I eventually went with were great, they showed me the official Skoda build schedule for the car when the order was placed and I got regular email updates from them, even if they were "no change". And they were as surprised as I was when it only took 3 months to arrive.
  7. That's exactly the same symptoms as mine. The keep-finger-on-power-for-10-secs reset fixed it for me as well. Shortly afterwards I got a renotification for an update, for the shop app. This time it seemed to work OK, although it took a couple of minutes to finish. VAG software seems to be truly shoddy ☚ī¸
  8. Yes, thanks - I updated the post above with a link to the procedure as you were adding this info 🙂
  9. It's a Columbus, so no physical power button, but your link did point me in the direction of this tutorial: Basically, press the touch power button for 10 seconds. I'll give it a try when the car gets back home, thanks.
  10. I got a message last night about an update, which I accepted. After that I got a message about a background process not being able to start but after restarting the car it went away so I thought no more about it, but this morning infotainment is completely dead - AC settings, parking assist etc works but the home and menu buttons do nothing. There's also a message that pops up on start about having to select a privacy level, which disappears after pressing start. I'm on the latest SW level (it's new car). Is there an equivalent to <control-alt-delete> for infotainment?
  11. You could try turning it off in infotainment anyway. If it stops doing it, it might point towards the issue being a faulty sensor.
  12. This in action, perhaps? If so, AFAIK you can turn it off in infotainment. https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/virtual_pedal_en/
  13. Didn't work, the version of OBD11 we tried with generated the SFD code OK but then wouldn't let it be pasted back into the OBD11 app, so it wasn't possible to change the value.
