  1. Sorry, didn't see a notification. Also happy to have a look. Both VCDS and ODBEleven.
  2. 190 TDI. Knowing sods law, as soon as I start driving the superb, I will get a call from the police to tell me they found my car.
  3. So I will be moving over to the Superb forum. Picking up a 67 plate L&K Hatch on Saturday. No news on my Octavia.
  4. It was just a Three fixed data sim from Amazon that I bought years ago and I just threw the piece of paper away, or at least I can't find it. Nothing on the Amazon invoice gives any details of the card.
  5. Still nothing. Going to be really lucky to hear anything now I think.
  6. It would ultimately depend on her condition, but the answer would most likely be yes. She has been made mine over the years.
  7. Fortunately because I drive a lot for my job, I have a man shed (an old BMW) that takes the brunt of the miles (it will cross 225,000 miles today). It also means I don't have to rush and get a car right now, I can take a little time to find the car I want. The claim has been approved, we just have a difference of opinion on the value.
  8. There are third party alarm systems where you need to enter a code otherwise the car will be turned off. Look at the Clifford BlackJax system. But then you have the hassle of entering the code everytime to drive the car.
  9. Unfortunately, No news at the moment. Take it this depends on where it is a device that constantly reports it location, to one that only reports its location when asked.
  10. Annoyingly, I upgraded to a MIB 2.5 unit, but you can't subscribe to the online services, because as far as Skoda are concerned the car cannot be connected. Also the data sim I bought, I just put into the car and didn't take the number. Also the VCDS map I have of the unit, doesn't include its EMEI number.
  11. Talking to the officer who took my statement, he has an idea of the gang who may have taken it, and they are well aware where the anpr cameras are. He reckons that they may have left it somewhere to see if a tracker is installed. Then it will most likely get a set of false plates on it, and used for other criminal purposes.
  12. Car was taken from Crookes. Driven round the area for a bit, before last been seen by ANPR on Brook Street, near the university roundabout.
  13. Yep. The keys were stolen from the house. My expectation is that I won't see her again, or if I do it will be wrapped round something as it was involved in a car chance. And there is a pic as the header of my profile. I will find a pic to post on the thread itself when I get back from work.
  14. Yesterday morning my race blue vrs was stolen. It was taken around 2.30 in the morning and was last spotted on Brook Street, Sheffield, around 4.30 in the morning. It is possible that the car now has new plates, or could be just parked up somewhere, now the thieves have their fun. I know it is a small chance of anybody spotting her, but would much rather have her back, than think about a new car.
  15. I second the wedge cushion. I am 6 foot 8, and my problem was the vrs seat pressing on my leg. I was worried that it would mean I would have to give up the car, as I couldn't drive it for more than an hour. One wedge cushion later, and I can do multi hour drives without a problem.
  16. My 12 inch sub is fitted in the spare wheel well, as my car didn't come with a spare wheel. Amps and DSP all fit in there as well. No issues with volume.
  17. Nuts. Swapping motots doesn't work as that just swaps the problem. Controls are correct but goes the wrong way trying to get in the right position. You just have to get a Memory Motor for the left side of the car. Going to double check with VCDS later to see if anything else, but doubt it. Suspect just got to find a memory motor for the left hand side.
  18. So a posible explanation as to why my wiring is the opposite way round, is that the motors are specific to each side with the horizontal and vertical motors swapped round. This means I bought a drivers side motor. I just need to work out which motor has the wrong polarity. Seems BMW use the same motors. Like how the guys says the cheap way to fix a broken BMW one, is to buy a VW one. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2311540-E39M5-E46M3-Side-Mirror-Actuator-Internals-Knowledge-Bomb. Looking at that post, looks like I should just be able to swap one of the motors over from my original motor. They are pretty easy to take apart and the motors just pull off. Will keep you posted.
  19. I have been wanting to get the proper reverse mirror dip working for a while. Not the dip a tiny amount and vaguely return to the original position version I had. When I fitted the folding mirrors, I did upgrade to the high line door controllers, but that wasn't enough. I needed the Memory Mirror Motor (part 3D0 959 578 C). I managed to get one from ebay, but it didn't come with any wires. So following https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?6960609-Mirror-tilt-possible-without-memory-seats-Possible-DIY/page2 I cut down a larger connector to fit. Also note in the thread about the pin numbers. They aren't what you would expect. Pin out 7 5 3 1 8 6 2 4 is the blank. Now all i needed was the pins numbers for the door controller plug. @SashaGrace pointed me to this thread which had the door controller pin numbers I enabled the reverse mirror dip with VCDS and found that with the motor I had bought, horizontal and vertial were the wrong way round, so had to swap all the horizontal / vertical wires round. So I ended up with Door Controller Memory Motor 4 5 5 6 7 2 8 8 13 7 14 1 16 3 And after all that, my vertical is the wrong way round, just like for @Trust2k. So my pin numbers may be specific to the variant of the motor I have and for someone else might be slightly different. But wanted to have a post with all this in one place, rather than dotted around. All in all rather have the working reverse mirror dip. It really does work properly. Just really, really wish VW, Skoda, Seat etc were consistent with their parts, as even when a part has the right part number it might still be wrong because it came from the wrong make. Moral of the story, I suspect, is buy the unit from aliexpress that is marked for skoda. A lot less hassle I suspect. I will update this if I ever get my up and down to be the right way round.
  20. Given the Mark 3 has been out for about 7 years now, you can see that the car is pretty reliable, otherwise this forum would be full of people talking about all issue that they have. I would expect you to get a lot more than 2 years out of the car. So while there is that 10k initial cost, every year you can run the car is saving you 6k-servicing and maintenance costs. Also knowing you are happy with the car, and that it is running well and know the history is worth a lot as well. I know I am keeping my 14 plate vRs for many more years.
  21. Ooo, I have the extended warranty. I will get in touch with my dealer before it runs out.
  22. hmmm. I just had my MOT and they reported the same problem on my Drivers side light. Now I know in December that I drove through a massive puddle on that side and it is possible that water found its way through a vent. Looks like I need to run the lights for a while (a long while as I have LEDS in there) and see if the problem comes back.
  23. I was wondering if you have a copy of the wiring diagram you used for the new wiring for the mirror motor? Picked up a motor, but now need to add the extra wiring to the door controller.
