  1. Hi Martin As we all know our cars are notorious for leaking. at a guess I would say the water is coming through the side window they are designed to leak and allow the water to run through the inside of the door escaping through the holes at the bottom. If the plastic behind the door card is damaged water can enter the interior of the car at a guess I would suggest the rain was excessive or your car was parked on a slope or a different place allowing the water that normally drips straight down to escape has run down the plastic and found its way into the cabin take the door card off and have a look if the plastic is intact if not seal it.
  2. hi Mark I packed mine and its been fine so far used some thin rubber strip I drive id every day inc motorways so far so good
  3. with a bit of work you can make most seats fit, in the uk they must slide to pass the mot. most of the small VAG cars, polo golf and later models Skoda seats have been fitted with a bit of work
  4. hi when i have time i am going to put a thread on DIY gear lever overall at no cost give me a day or 2 clive
  5. it can all be done learn as you go I did it is hard at times . one bit of advice cut the rot out then cut at least 50 mm more to get to the best metal you can find you can not weld rust and will just blow holes in thin metal.save this truck and turn heads wherever you go lots of people on here will help you clive
  6. Not wanting to take your thread over but sharing things that work always helps others, the front crossmember was also in a bad way the truck lived on a farm for several years and it had obviously hit a few rocks in the fields over the years this is how I pulled it back into line with my home-made body jig
  7. I cannot find the photographs of the rear wheel arches when I repaired them when I do I will post them I wasn't as lucky as you as both front inner wings were in a bad state I used a piece of plywood and a jigsaw to cut the shape I required and bent the metal round it maybe you could do the same it was successful
  8. Congratulations for taking this on and saving another of these excellent pickups. The inner rear wings can be found in eastern Europe. you'll have to work hard to find them. I rebuilt my inner wings a section at a time working on the Weld a lot and grind it back theory making templates and learning the dark art of sheet metal bending in three separate directions they were quite good by the time I finished luckily my neighbours don't mind the sound of the angle grinder. Keep us posted on your progress
  9. Possibly this may help see attached photographs it's difficult to see . the pulley that is polished is actually quite badly worn this was caused by the plastic belt cover caching which seemed to last better than the aluminium . The other picture is of a good pully. Could something have jammed and slowly rubbed it away I saw a similar thing with a copper brake pipe tied up with a tie rap the nylon was perfect the copper pipe had rubbed awaypm me if you want one clive

  11. I am very lucky to have an firm called parts depot ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/partsdepot_uk ) in Crewe they are part of the VAG group they purchase new old stock and un wanted genuine Skoda parts from dealers across the country and put them on eBay if you keep your eyes open you will get some bargains I got a complete exhaust system for the pickup including cat for less than a copy system It did take several months purchasing one section at a time
  12. This subject pops up from time to time so I thought I would just offer my solution. The standard setup Is arranged so excessive fuel not needed by the injector pump is returned to the filter before The valve In the top of the fuel filter allows the excess fuel back to the tank these can sometimes cause problems. Secondly when changing the fuel filter fuel can run back to the tank making bleeding more difficult. I have fitted a diesel filter off a Rover 45 which is identical in every way apart from not having the return valve, it does have a bleed screw which I use to fill the filter after changing it. The return fuel lines Originally joined with the valve are simply connected together with a piece of suitable tubing. Secondly I have installed a nonreturn valve on the supply side to prevent fuel returning Also some people have fitted an in-line pump as well.
  13. hi up date the car re locks after 30s as you said but the windows stay down but the alarm is on thanks clive

I have locked the car only to return in the morning to find the doors open and all the windows down when putting the key in my pocket I must have pressed the switch this has happened several times luckily nobody has helped themselves to anything yet
  17. hi how can I switch off the Auto Windows down on my key fob on my superb 2,5 D v 6 thanks
  18. sorry if this has been on the forum before but what a project if only the inner rear wheel arches were easy to find
  19. I personally wouldn't use fluid that had been through the system even if it's new it could have picked up some contamination, but when I have run out at 8 o'clock at night and to be honest yes I have done in the past
  20. Hi Adam sorry your difficulties continue I am certain the clutch cable off a Felicia 1.9 diesel will fit the your pickup the only difference I am aware of is at the clutch pedal end some have a d pin holding the cable to the top of the pedal easy to change ,and others have a small circlip which can be a pain in the ass when they flick off and disappear down the back of the carpet I am a little confused about the mechanics Diagnosis the clutch cable is creating the problem in third and fourth this seems unusual if the cable was stiff or binding I would think it will be the same throughout the gears. Hopefully other forum members can shed some light on this for you clive
