  1. Hi Martin As we all know our cars are notorious for leaking. at a guess I would say the water is coming through the side window they are designed to leak and allow the water to run through the inside of the door escaping through the holes at the bottom. If the plastic behind the door card is damaged water can enter the interior of the car at a guess I would suggest the rain was excessive or your car was parked on a slope or a different place allowing the water that normally drips straight down to escape has run down the plastic and found its way into the cabin take the door card off and have a look if the plastic is intact if not seal it.
  2. hi Mark I packed mine and its been fine so far used some thin rubber strip I drive id every day inc motorways so far so good
  3. with a bit of work you can make most seats fit, in the uk they must slide to pass the mot. most of the small VAG cars, polo golf and later models Skoda seats have been fitted with a bit of work
  4. hi when i have time i am going to put a thread on DIY gear lever overall at no cost give me a day or 2 clive
  5. it can all be done learn as you go I did it is hard at times . one bit of advice cut the rot out then cut at least 50 mm more to get to the best metal you can find you can not weld rust and will just blow holes in thin metal.save this truck and turn heads wherever you go lots of people on here will help you clive
  6. Not wanting to take your thread over but sharing things that work always helps others, the front crossmember was also in a bad way the truck lived on a farm for several years and it had obviously hit a few rocks in the fields over the years this is how I pulled it back into line with my home-made body jig
  7. I cannot find the photographs of the rear wheel arches when I repaired them when I do I will post them I wasn't as lucky as you as both front inner wings were in a bad state I used a piece of plywood and a jigsaw to cut the shape I required and bent the metal round it maybe you could do the same it was successful
  8. Congratulations for taking this on and saving another of these excellent pickups. The inner rear wings can be found in eastern Europe. you'll have to work hard to find them. I rebuilt my inner wings a section at a time working on the Weld a lot and grind it back theory making templates and learning the dark art of sheet metal bending in three separate directions they were quite good by the time I finished luckily my neighbours don't mind the sound of the angle grinder. Keep us posted on your progress
  9. Possibly this may help see attached photographs it's difficult to see . the pulley that is polished is actually quite badly worn this was caused by the plastic belt cover caching which seemed to last better than the aluminium . The other picture is of a good pully. Could something have jammed and slowly rubbed it away I saw a similar thing with a copper brake pipe tied up with a tie rap the nylon was perfect the copper pipe had rubbed awaypm me if you want one clive
  10. Collection preferred and its yours FOC. happy to post it at cost. The glass and the mechanism are perfect the seal is in good condition the frame has several broken screws
