  1. Very common problem on these cars. The amplifier in the base of the aerial gets water ingress, and the corrosion just stops it working.

When mine went last year, FM was perfectly fine, but I totally lost AM.

New aerial from the dealers is under £30.

    Mike

Are the aerials an easy 'self-fit' item or are we talking dealer fit only?!?

  2. We had the saloon version as a hire car recently in Spain - very nice car to look at and well-specced. Very comfortable and reasonable to drive, although forward visibility is impaired by a huge and poorly placed A-pillar. Definitely not a 'drivers car' but I could see the appeal and made a nice 'cruiser' for a fortnight

However........during the 2nd week the in-built sat-nav and media system started to turn itself off when you were driving. Not very good if you're trying to follow the nav in the middle of Barcelona or using the parking sensors

I'm sure Peugeot will tell you that their quality levels are improving - I'm yet to be convinced!!

  3. As I've got a lot going on at home and a holiday to pay for I've decided to have a clear out of my 'Boys Toys' :'(

There will also be a 320GB PS3 following tonight, nothing to do with recent events ;) , just don't get enough time to use it at the moment.

I will always consider sales away from e-Bay so if anyone's interested let me know!!

  4. Just been covered on the One Show on BBC1, a London cabbie complaining about xenons / HID's and how they dazzle, even when correctly adjusted.

They confirmed anyone upgrading to HID's without also fitting the headlight washers and auto levelling is breaking the law...

Nothing we don't already know ;)

The complaining cabbie will also be breaking the law when he jumps a red light, speeds and uses his mobile phone when driving!!

  5. My working week is Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm, however:-

    1) The latest I've got into the office this week was 8am

    2) We don't get an official lunch break as the company buys our lunch and we tend to eat at our desks

    3) I take work home and probably average 1 hour a night answering e-mails

    4) We have offices in France, Germany, Spain, India, Middle East, Australia, USA all with their own working hours so my mobile can ring at ANY time

    5) I still love it and get very well 'looked after'

  6. They obviously aint that bothered as my car passed it's MOT with a Kit in.

Currently the type of headlamp/bulb is not part of the MOT test - only that it is functional and correctly aligned ;)

Unfortunately, it would appear that there is an increasing possibility that it may become part of the MOT test in the future - however this has not been confirmed or any timescale put on this (as far as I know).

At the end of the day 99% of us are aware and understand that aftermarket HID kits are not road-legal and take this in to consideration when deciding whether to fit them. There are plenty of people on here that would happily birch you to within an inch of your life for fitting an aftermarket HID kit - however these same people would probably quite happily break the speed limit :D

  7. .. not sure if you saw a pic i did some time back for Brimma to show him how the vmr wheel would look on a vrs - i did a couple of pics for him including one using your original image:

    5120204498_aa3601f03a_b.jpg

    ROB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did you have to post that pic again - I'd only just got it out of my mind from last time :giggle:

Now those horrible and expensive thoughts of wheel changes are back again - anyone fancy a set of genuine 19" BBS CH's??

  8. I took my PD170 vRS to Shark for the DPF removal and re-map - excellent service and a completely different car once the work was completed

Ben doesn't tend to quote Bhp figures, which in the case of 95% of tuners are misleading anyway, but I can definitely vouch for his map. The engine now revs like a petrol but with the diesel torque and the car now goes like stink!!

Give Ben a call - you won't be disappointed ;)

  9. Maybe maybe, but show me an alternative you can actually buy other than the Superskoda one??

The car has been lowered since that photo too, so it's even more subtle now.

As far as I'm aware there isn't an alternative?!?

I'm sure yours looks great and you're obviously happy with it but I tend to follow the OEM+ route when modding my cars - therefore unless there's something that looks 'right' I won't bother, rather than look for the 'next best thing'!!

At the end of the day I struggled getting on and off my drive with my Octy I with the splitter and she wasn't lowered - if I fitted the splitter to 'Ruth' she'd probably not even get close to the drive ever again :giggle:

  10. What were the costs pal?

    Hi George!!

Unfortunately I had this done as part of quite a lot of work. I bought some wheels, ARB's, coilovers as well as the DPF removal and re-map. We sorted a price for everything together and he took my standard wheels in part-ex so I can't give you an accurate price - sorry :(

Don't hesitate to get in touch with Ben though - he's a great guy

Keep in mind though that I believe Ben is Autosport International this weekend ;)

  11. So Ben has 'standardized' his beast then? :'( fitting the HIDs is a piece of cake mate, I fitted and removed both sides in around 15 minutes, but obviously you will need the recoding done, are you getting the LED sidelights done as well, if not ask Eric on Monday to show you his, I think you will be suitably impressed.

Yep - I believe Ben is getting rid of his beast to concentrate on his track weapon and he also needed a van. I would have had his Porsche brakes as well but bankruptcy and divorce would have been a foregone conclusion :'(

Eric will be fitting the sidelights at the same time and hopefully 'activating' a few extra features ;)

  12. They look the nuts, not cheap for the set though I imagine?!

I've just fitted a 35w 5000K HID kit, its bloody brilliant, tbh I wouldn't do the LCR splitter, its not wide enough for the vRS and looks tacky, just an opinion of course.

What about colour coding the grille, that has to be one of the best visual mods, imho.

    Cheers Pagey!!

I got them from Ben @ Shark Performance - along with the other mods!! It did cost a small fortune but we did a deal where he took my 18" Zeniths in part-ex so I'm, just, managing to avoid bankruptcy.

I'm popping over to visit Hauptmann on Monday to have the HID's fitted - can't wait :)

I want to see a few more pics of the splitter before I decide - if it doesn't look OEM it will not be going anywhere near my baby!!

The grille may be a future mod - I used to work at a VAG Bodyshop so I have a few 'contacts' in the right places
