  1. Again, thank you for your comments @PetrolDave. Much appreciated. I don't have a meter which stores max/min but just taking readings by eye. Voltage is good at rest but I see it dropping to 10.3V and 10.5V during a couple of starts. Garage has looked at it again. Still nothing identified but now focusing on the instrument cluster.
  2. Many thanks for your reply. If low voltage was a suspected cause, would it not be happening more often after the vehicle was left for longer? Overnight, over a weekend, or after returning from holiday? I have never noticed it happen in those scenarios, only after short mid-journey stops. Would even a poorly battery, not have it's best fighting chance when the car has just been running for a good length of time?
  3. I think it was mentioned by another user here or maybe another thread that the fault might relate to short stops (engine fully off then start again). Or at least it is occurring during that process. I am definitely finding that the reset occurs after short stops. Every time I notice a reset, I check the miles since it happened and it is always a mid-journey engine stop then start again. Does anyone know if this could info could point to something which might be causing it? (since start, long-term and since refuel all resetting randomly) (It's booked in again next week)
  4. "Faulty fuel sensor..." according to diagnosis. Repaired. No change. Still resetting "since start", "long term" and "since refuel" for no reason. I appreciate I don't know what I'm talking about and that computers can do squirrely things, but surely a faulty fuel sensor might reset "since refuel" but why would that reset "since start" and "long term"? Now I have to book it in again. Frustrating.
  5. Same issue. 2019 Octavia Mk3 Estate. Taking car in tomorrow. Hopefully a software update will fix it. I'll update if there is any information to share.
  6. Bingo! Many thanks ords. I looked back through threads, just not far enough! Looks like it might be a known fault but good to know I'm not alone at least. Car is going in tomorrow so hopefully they might update software or know the fix. Thanks again for the help.
  7. Thanks for your reply. All reset at same time, and often. No knowledge of hitting any button and I'm not busy scrolling, looking, changing anything. Became apparent on one occasion when I went to look at data and all had reset at same moment shortly prior to looking. So I kept an eye on it and now see them resetting often. Still gathering info and observing but it might coincide with a stop (ignition off, key out) but if it is this, it's resetting all (since start, long-term and since refuel) on a brief stop, a stop which would not normally be long enough to reset even the since start.
  8. The multifunction display in my Octavia Mk III estate keeps resetting. So far, I have found that "Since Start", "Long-Term" and "Since Refuel" all reset at the same moment in the distance, time and MPG displays (odometer and trip displays are unaffected). If this is a known issue, can anyone direct me to previous discussion? If not, any ideas what the issue could be? Many Thanks.
  9. p.s. counting back from when the clock reset, I know that whatever caused the event, it happened when I parked and switched off the car.
  10. Has anyone experienced the clock and trip computer resetting for no apparent reason on a mk3 Octavia? Or does anyone know what could cause this? I don't know if any other features are also affected but the clock and trip comp are the most obvious. Any hints or ideas to check would be much appreciated.
  11. Earlier in this thread, there is discussion on 'Air Care' with mention of setting it to default to ON as well as using HEPA filters. Is it an option in settings to change the default for Air Care on/off? My Mk III Octavia Estate seems to accumulate an incredible amount of dust, more so than I remember previous cars of the same model. I'm wondering if Air Care could help reduce this by filtering cabin air? However, I'd be keen to get an idea of how much cabin air is recirculated. If you have four people in the car (and they're all breathing) there is the risk of accumulating a lot of moisture. Will my local Skoda franchise be familiar with options for HEPA filtration? Has the issue of dust come up elsewhere in other threads that anyone has noticed?
  12. I take it your school has a totally invincible Greenpower Goblin or Formula 24 with your influence...? (maybe you could advise how I might assess the battery in ours to see if we need to replace it?)
  13. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of bringing blank switches/buttons into use? Like the ones in front of the gear lever in my Mk III Octavia where there are about five blanks and three in use. Is it even possible? Can you get functioning switches to use in the blanked slots? Is it a complete unit with all eight switches but blanked over in models without the feature? Or are the switches all individual units? My possible project is installing amber beacons around the car and I'd like an on/off switch in one of the unused slots if at all possible. Any info would be great.
  14. Still trying to find the engine number or cam cover! Engine was replaced Nov 2014 with what I believe was a reconditioned one. Would reconditioned engines definitely have the newer tensioner? I had the car at the local Skoda dealer yesterday, (9th Dec 2015). The technician did feel the judder/flutter and asked me to book it in for 2 or 3 days. Went indoors and was told they could book it in on the 19th......, of Jan 2016!! At 41 days or 1.35 months, with rounding and a scunnered customer, that's a month and a half away!!!! The new engine is under warranty but do I have to take it to a Skoda dealer for warranty work? To add to my poor 'Engine Flutter/Judder' description in my thread with that title, it is also doing that 'clickety clack / stutter' you get if you try to pull in far too low a gear (just before you stall if you don't get the clutch in quickly enough). Sorry again for my poor terminology but does that description ring bells? The technician said it was okay to drive but I'm seriously worried that this is timing related and that I'm risking serious damage, especially if I continue driving it for a month and a half before it gets looked at. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. 2011 1.8TSI Mk2 Octavia Scout I had my engine replaced but didn't dig into it to find out what engine it was replaced with. Now developed a new issue (see post entitled "Engine Flutter/Judder") and I'm starting to worry that I should be on this thread not my 'Flutter/Judder' thread! I notice there are engine codes at the beginning of this thread. Can anyone tell me if these codes are marked on the engine somewhere? (as my logbook will show the code for the original engine, I presume?) Many Thanks.
  16. Any other suggestions of the possible issue from my description? Many Thanks.
  17. DMF ?? I believe I can hear something unusual about the way the engine is idling, particularly from outside the car listening to the engine. Still not very descriptive, sorry. However, the flutter/judder is most noticeable under average acceleration or driving at a constant speed/revs. If I hold maybe one gear lower than necessary so the revs are a little higher but just hold it constant, it is very noticeable (to me at least).
  18. I have a 2011 Octavia Scout which previously had the 1.8TSI engine replaced. The new engine has done less than 20K miles but has developed what a layman such as myself is describing as a flutter or a judder. Everything about it says to me that it is engine related but I'm open to suggestions. I changed the spark plugs and the old ones looked wrecked! Changing the plugs seemed to give an immediate increase in power but the flutter/judder is still there. I also bought a single coil and rotated it along all four cylinders but saw no change. Does my poor description cause anything to stand out as a possible problem to anyone? (a local garage said they couldn't feel anything and said there were no fault codes showing) Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. Since I bought my Octavia II from new, I have quite often heard a tone over the speaker system in the car which I have taken to mean the battery is low. It happens when I leave the radio on for more than 10 mins, doors open for same, interior lights... etc. I am even wondering if leaving a phone charging is having the some effect. Now however, I keep finding myself with a flat battery and unable to start. It seems that just 30 mins with the radio on is draining the battery? I am wondering if, even after I switch the engine off but don't take the key out, are my lights staying on longer but I thought they went off after a period even with key in ignition but not turned. The AA have checked my battery and alternator twice and found they are both 100% and charging normally. Today, a friend in an Audi S3 found her battery was flat but she had just parked overnight and had nothing on in the car since she parked it. Does anyone know if something else is causing a high drain on the battery?
  20. ...or can anyone direct me to a diagram showing the relevant parts?
  21. Thanks snig71. Deer strike was very low to the bumper & fog light. It leapt over a fence right as I was passing & as it hit the ground it dipped low so I think the head hit but I don't know if it bounced or went under the wheel. Could it cause the damage you describe if the head went under? I'm certainly not aware of any other impacts. Is there anything I could see, check or measure myself to confirm if it is the lower arm or is it to subtle & would need a garage? Thanks again:)
  22. Can anyone help...?: The nearside front wheel on my 2011 Octavia Scout is rubbing on the front edge of the wheel arch. It was first noticed after a deer strike the the nearside front and this was assumed to be the problem. However, a trip to a body shop showed nothing pushed back (maybe 1 or 2mm) and we then found out that the wheel is actually 15mm forward. This is indicated by the fact that the gap from the back of the wheel to the wheel arch is larger (wheel is dead centre on offside) and the distance from centre of front wheel to centre of rear wheel is 15mm more on nearside compared to offside. Has anyone heard of or experienced similar or could you offer any explanation why the wheel could be forward? Many Thanks
  23. Awesome....!! Thats what I needed. Found internal (dash) fuse panel and found fuse 15 as per DanialA11. It was blown. It is replaced. It is good. Many thanks DanialA11. Thanks also to darius, VCD owner who was going to help out if that had been neccessary.
