  1. Cheers GaSelle, My car only has the Amundsen, not the Amundsen+, thanks though.
  2. Hi Richie, Yep thanks for the tip, I've just bought an MDI to iphone cable from eBay. I'll give that a bash. Cheers.
  3. My Skoda Superb has an amundsen satnav with bluetooth connection for phone. I can play my iPhone through the bluetooth, but can only skip and rewind tracks using voice control. Dealers said that to control an iPhone through the steering column and dashboard controls I'd have to upgrade to a higher spec bit of kit. I've seen mates VAG cars that show track information through the display, and they can control music through controls. What's the cheapest way that I can get the same functionality? Does it really mean a new head unit?
  4. got back from the dealers today. They said the belt wasn't damaged, but they always replace them as the current life of a belt is 5 years. I explained car is only 3 years old. They took 15% off. I kind of feel cheated still. I phoned the skoda dealer in a neighbouring town, the cost of belt, tensioners, idler pulleys etc was near as dammit £220. I paid 180ish. At least now belt won't need changing in a couple of year's time.
  5. It's 220 for parts. The labour is being charged to the water pump, which they are covering under warranty.
  6. cheers! Do you know where I can find details of the skoda warranty, it's handy to be able to have it in front of me when I call the stealers in the morning. BNo worries, just found it!
  7. Hmmm, thanks. I'm guessing a timing belt should last considerably longer than 40K miles? Never owned a skoda before, but my previous cars had replacements schedules of around 70K or 80K
  8. thanks trundlenut, they didn't mention any fault with the belt over the phone. Just that they would need to replace it when they did the water pump?
  9. Hi folks, I'd appreciate your thoughts . . . My Superb has developed a slow water leak. It's under warranty until the end of November. The local skoda garage called today to say that the waterpump is covered under warranty, but the timing belt isn't. They will charge me £220 for the parts needed to replace the timing belt, the labour will be free. I'm feeling a bit put out with this. If the water pump hadn't failed the timing belt should be good for a long while yet, the car's only just covered 40K miles. Has anyone else me this before? Thanks for any and all replies. Tony
  10. Hello all, Introducing myself. I bought a secondhand superb estate last year. Love the car, don't love my dealings with the local skoda garage to date! Cheers Tony
