  1. Looks like 17" Tritons. OE on my 1.4tsi SE estate 2018. Like https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/alloy-wheels/3v0071497-8z8-alloy-wheel-triton-17/#gallery-94252
  2. Funnkly enough at 6ft3 the Superb is thr most comfortable car I have owned. No aches and pains after a 5 or 6 hour drive. Of course I may have longer or shorter arms legs or torso than average for my height. In any case I have the wheel as far back as it goes. wheel height bear or a the top. The seat high enough that my head is close to but not touching the roof. I rarely need to use the sun visor. I set the seat fore and aft at a comfortable distance for the pedals. Then lastly fine tune the angle of the seat back to get the correct slight elbow bend at 10 to 2. Luckily I am the only driver so only need to adjust things after a service.
  3. I had a brake pad rattle which was fixed under warranty at service by fitting shims. Apparently there was an advisery about it. 2018 Superb 1.4 tsi
  4. Absolutely correct. I had an Octavia hatch on OE Bridgestones which was painfully noisy. Ditched them with 5mm left on them for Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons all round. It transformed the car. Previously tyre noise dominated at all speeds. Afterwards it was gone. Usual mix of a bit of wind/engine/ etc.
  5. Hmm. My big 5 year service comes next year. No sign of any battery issues so far. The car never sits more than a day without being used. Perhaps after shelling out for the 5 year service I should schedule a replacement battery the following year. That would do me until I sell the car as long term I'm planning on buying another petrol car around the 2028 before the 2030 ban. Or is there any chance a stopstart battery will last 10 years in a regularly used car. Just chance it and keep a booster pack in the car and breakdown cover up to date?
  6. I like Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons. Not sure if they come in your size. Michelin Cross Climates get good reviews. Black Circles have them your size. https://www.blackcircles.com/tyres/235-45-18?seasonal=allseason
  7. Is the 280 a cambelt engine with a big service bill due for changing at 50k if not already done?
  8. On my 1.4Tsi estate I get around 47mpg on motorway runs at 75mph. On A roads like Glasgow to Skye and back I get 52mpg. That is brim to brim not the computer and without any effort to drive frugally. Still using full power if required for an overtake etc and doing mostly 50-60mph - or faster on straighter sections like Rannoch Moor. Very good for the size of car. I had a 1.8 petrol Mondeo which would get low to high 30s mpg depending on journey. So I'm getting around 15mpg more with the Superb. Must save around £500 a year on fuel for my 10k mileage.
  9. Hi. Can't offer a test drive but I live in Milngavie and have a manual 1,4Tsi estate 2018 version. If you want a feel of the car accelerating etc from the passenger seat let me know. For what it's worth I think the 1.4 is fine for the car. Accelerates well and pulls away well at low revs. My rule of thumb (for flat roads) is 4th gear at 30, 5th gear at 40 and 6th for anything over 45mph. At those speeds it pulls away well. The only flaws I have had with the car are a rattle coming from the front brake pads, Known issue sorted under warranty at a service with a shim kit. Secondly OE discs are made of cheese. My rear discs needed replaced at 25k miles. But I got the car new for just over £18k in May 2018 (with a few options) so will give it the benefit of the doubt.
  10. 2x services at £185 is £370 Plus 2 MOTS £120 plus extended scope £60 plus spark plugs £100 total £650 Cost under plan £615 Losing approx £100 I would save by having services gone at indy specialist. So effective cost of warranty £65 ignoring the roadside repair as I have a policy via my insurance. Probably adj for a copy of the warranty terms before deciding.
  11. I received this offer in my email today. 20% off a 2 year all in service plan and warranty. Makes it £614 Included. 2 oil and inspection services. One with extended scope. Spark plug change. Two MOTs. 2 years warranty. 2 years roadside assistance. https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/all-in-service-plan Looks like getting the two years warranty for free.
  12. The front brakes on my 2018 1.4Tsi are pretty much silent. So they are not all noisy. Car has 29k miles. My rear discs rusted and wore out pretty fast. They were noisy for a good 18 months before I had to replace them at around 26k miles and under 3 years old. Suspect your discs on a 2016 car may be well worn though still legal. Try a bit of heavy braking to clean any rust off.
  13. I did Glasgow to North Wales and back in a day on one tankfull in ny 2028 1.4tsi. 720 miles. 70mph on the motorway going down and 75ish coming home. Brim to brim was 47mpg. Included an hour of slow stop start passing Liverpool on the return. From memory the fill up was just over 70l.
  14. Check rear discs. Prone to premature rusting. Needed replaced at 2yr9months and 26k miles on my 2018 Superb Estate 1.4Tsi
  15. My Superb has the lockable ones. They feel fairly flimsy. No issues at 3 yrs old but I only use them for light storage. shopping bags on the left and 1l oil and funnel on the right. If I didn't have them I would be quite happy with the pic 1 setup. The other great boot tidy feature in mine is storing stuff not often used under the adustable floor - so jump leads, golf brolly etc.
