  1. I wonder if an IR thermometer would work with monitoring temperature.
  2. Hi Nick, I don't have anyway of seeing the gearbox oil temperature. Could you expand a little on the process, please? Am I right in thinking you ran the engine for a while, say 5 minutes on a hot day, 10 mins on a cold day and then removed the sump plug and allowed the excess oil to drain until it is just drips before replacing the sump plug?
  3. Hi, I hope you may be able to assist me with my 2010 Superb Elegance 2.0TDI (170) Estate 125,000 miles. Dashboard is displaying an amber light bulb which i believe indicates a bulb is out. Onboard computer is not showing any lights out when I check vehicle status. A quick visual check of the lights (including reverse lights) has not identified any bulbs out. Perhaps coincidentally, my parking sensors appear to have stopped working and just emit a long beep. Parking sensor all appear to be in place and clean. Carly is not showing any light or parking sensor faults. Any ideas what is going on?
  4. Chap on Pistonheads helped. Boot can be unlocked from inside manually. After that the remote worked on the boot again.
  5. Can't see how to edit the original post, but should have said that when I press the boot release button nothing happens i.e. no whirring of electric motors as if trying to open the boot.
  6. Skoda Superb 2.0 (170) TDI Elegance estate. Just carried a spare set of wheels in the boot (Changing over to a winters of wheels) and the wheels were rolling backwards and forwards and in doing so was knocking against the boot. I have carried wheels in this way for years without issue.... However, when I got home the (external) boot button above the number plate was not working and I am unable to open the boot. The remote will not open the boot. I have tried: 1. Cycling the central locking; 2. Disconnecting the battery to see if this would reset the system; 3. Confirmed that the boot is properly closed. Researched this using Google but haven't found an advice on an estate and this scenario. There are no warning lights or fault messages and I do not have access to VAGcom or similar. Anyone able to assist me sorting this, please?
  7. Presumably driven by one retired and elderly vicar only (the 50K 10 plate Superb TDi DSG). Nice car. Had they cured all the dsg problems by then?

The car is now approaching 110,000 miles and is brilliant.  Touch wood there have been no problems with the gearbox; which is the speed not the 7 speed) I make sure thatthe DSG oil and filter is changed at least every 40,000 miles.  Id you are interested I maintain a detailed history for the car at https://skodasuperb20tdi170elegance.wordpress.com

Thanks GreenGeorge, I'll take a look.

  8. Thanks, that is what I was thinking, but was wondering if it was a known issue; which it apparently isn’t. Will monitor.
  9. I filled the car up to the first click which was about 44 litres; not entirely sure but remember I was paying £1.52 p/l and the bill was about £68.
  10. 2010 Superb 2.0 TDI CR 170 DSG estate. 99,500 miles. Can anyone explain what was going on with my fuel gauge, please? Started my journey and the fuel gauge read just over 1/4 full (Just outside the red zone). Checked the range on the computer which displayed a remaining range of 95 miles. Commenced my journey and after a few miles noticed the fuel gauge was apparently not working with the needle registering empty BUT the low fuel warning light was NOT illuminated. Checked the range on the computer which displayed a remaining range of ——. Presumed a fuse had blown. Refueled the car and when I switched the engine off I noticed that the fuel gauge needle moved to the left very slightly (so had been registering something), and after refuelling the fuel gauge worked normally and the range on the computer displayed a range of 450 miles. Gauge seems to working correctly now. Any ideas?
  11. Thanks, Chimera I will have a look at erWin. That is a great recommendation.
  12. I am sure this has been asked before but I cannot find the answer. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please? I am looking to change the oil and cannot find details and am not sure if all 2.0 CR TDI's are the same as they have different engine codes. I have seen between 3.8 litres and 4.5 litres quoted in various places. There isn't a Haynes manual for these cars. I have a vacuum oil extractor. Can anyone advise me whether these work okay with these engines; I know some engines have baffles etc which can prevent the oil being 'completely' extracted. Thanks in advance.
  13. Size: 225/50 R17 98V 7J ET46 5 stud PCD n/k Can anyone advise me whether or not these wheels off a 2012 Audi A4 will properly fit my 2010 Skoda Superb 170 Estate?
  14. I am looking for a TDI DSG Superb estate and have been offered one through a Skoda dealer, which will apparently be coming into stock soon. It is on a '10" plate (Superb Mk2?) 170bhp TDI Elegance estate with DSG and 50,000 miles. The car will apparently be sold with 2 years servicing and warranty and will on for about £12,300. I anticipate that I will make the purchase using the Skoda PCP scheme, as they are initially offering £500 towards the deposit to which I plan to add another £2500 - £3000. Is there anything I should be looking for at that mileage? Critically, what sort of things should I be looking to get done as part of the deal? i.e. DSG oil and filter change. Any tips on striking a deal when purchasing using their PCP scheme? Is the 2nd hand Skoda warranty alright?
