  1. Hello, I have a Mk2 Superb 2.0TDI 170bhp CFGB engine and have covered 160,000 miles. The car has been properly maintained and serviced throughout at fixed intervals. In June 2025 at 157,000 miles the EGR was replaced by a VAG specialist and a mod to the pipe work was made. SInce then the car has twice gone into a limp mode with (according to CARLY) fault code P040300 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit. I plan to send the car back to the specialist but it has occurred to me that the EGR circuit pipework may be coked up along with the inlet manifold. With that in mind I looked at companies who clean the EGR circuit and DPF. One of them has suggested that they not only clean the pipework but re-map the ECU to permanently close the EGR valve bypassing the engine. Does anyone have experience of this? It seems like an attractive option but want to make sure there aren;tr an downsides I should be aware of. Cost is apparently £390. Moderators I wasn't sure where to post this as the CFGB engine has been used in many Skoda models so please feel free to move if there is a more appropriate section.
  2. We are going to stick with out 157k Skoda Superb estate for now. We have had her since around 50k and is ell maintained by specialists and has nice pink clear coolant! The EGR vaalve has just faile dthis week so we will get that replaced and see where we are.
  3. Thank you all for your advice. We decided not to go ahead with that car and agree the coolant being at or below minimum was a concern with no disclosed work on the cooling system recently. I did look at other cars on the forecourt and they appeared to have the same colour coolant but to my mind it looks wrong.
  4. I am looking at a 2023 Superb through a Skoda dealer and the coolant is murky brown colour and certainly not pink or yellow but am not sure how purple the purple coolant is. Of course the salesman says it is fine and normal. Views, please?
  5. Sorry to hijack this thread but am looking at 2023 Superb from a Skoda dealer and the coolant is a murky brown. They assure me this is correct but it looks wrong and definitely not pink or yellow or purple. Views?
  6. I am after some advice please on coolant and specifically colour. I am looking at buying from Skoda, a 2 owner 2023 Superb with under 20,000 miles. The coolant looks brown to me but they have assured me this is normal. My current 2010 Superb has bright pink coolant. Anyone with a Mk3 Superb or 2023 era Skoda able to confirm this coolant looks normal, please?
  7. Thank for you advice. I thought I had cured the issue by sealing the light unit in the rear boot drain channels on each: But... when I checked this evening the spare wheel well was wet... very very annoying! It was leaking in from both rear corners of the wheel well which caused me to discount the high level brake light and rear windscreen wiper grommet as they are centrally mounted.
  8. Thank you. Do you know whether these are replaceable items?
  9. I think the hatch drain holes are a red herring as they appear to drain onto the bumper outside the seals.
  10. I am after some advice please as to where my car is leaking from, please. 2010 ŠKODA Superb 2 estate. I recently found that my spare wheel well in the boot had flooded. The water was clear and appeared clean but was an inch deep. I am not sure how long it has been leaking although for a few months I have been concerned that the climate was not working very well as it was struggling to clear misty window in the mornings. It now appears that this was due to the high levels of humidity the water in the wheel well had created inside the car. I dried the boot out and have been monitoring it but there has been very little rain recently so it stayed dry even after jet washing the car. However, after heavy rain yesterday I have found two small pools of water in the boot this morning. It appears to have come in from two sources nearest the rear of the car on the left and right hand side of the spare wheel well. When I examined the boot aperture the boot seal and the rear hatch bottom edge both appear dry. The rear hatch bottom has three drain holes and the leak source appears to be roughly in the same area but how water would get into the boot from the hatch drain holes is not clear to me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
  11. I wonder if an IR thermometer would work with monitoring temperature.
  12. Hi Nick, I don't have anyway of seeing the gearbox oil temperature. Could you expand a little on the process, please? Am I right in thinking you ran the engine for a while, say 5 minutes on a hot day, 10 mins on a cold day and then removed the sump plug and allowed the excess oil to drain until it is just drips before replacing the sump plug?
  13. Hi, I hope you may be able to assist me with my 2010 Superb Elegance 2.0TDI (170) Estate 125,000 miles. Dashboard is displaying an amber light bulb which i believe indicates a bulb is out. Onboard computer is not showing any lights out when I check vehicle status. A quick visual check of the lights (including reverse lights) has not identified any bulbs out. Perhaps coincidentally, my parking sensors appear to have stopped working and just emit a long beep. Parking sensor all appear to be in place and clean. Carly is not showing any light or parking sensor faults. Any ideas what is going on?
