6. Alstox: VRS 230, black, manual hatch Lincolnshire & Buckinghamshire, UK.

My VRS 230 hatch (demo 900 miles on the clock) exhibited the booming / pressure in the cabin on the pre-purchase test drive.
The dealer acknowledged the issue and gave me written confirmation they would take the car back and issue a full refund if they couldn't fix it, citing they had done so on an earlier sale months back.
I went ahead with the purchase (as I loved the car) and they did exactly as promised. Took a few weeks to get the relevant fix approved by Skoda, during which I resolved to definitely return the car if it persisted and for the parts to arrive but the fix did the trick right away.
In essence, they repaced 4 x fittings on the hatch (the top ones are now spring-loaded), plus they replaced the 'stricker bar' (I think they called it) .... I.E. the bar where the hatch Locks onto. The boot closes noticeably firmer now versus before. It took circa 40 mins.
Just to complicate matters (having read a lot of this thread) ...., I got a space-saver wheel and a double/sided boot mat installed at the same time as the warranty fix mentioned above..... which won't help those of you trying to isolate what impact those accessories might have on the booming / pressure.
The upshot is they said they would fix it and they did. So there is definitely a known fix for this issue..... not sure why it was so painless for me versus the experiences of so many others on here.
Credit where it's due .... so thanks to Alex and his colleagues at Progress in Letchworth
Loving the car ..... but I got my first ever speeding ticket in 33 years of driving within 24 hours of ownership.... what a great car. .

Bit of good driving there to avoid the low flying Spitfire
Chocks away! It's a Hurricane by the way ...... The Spitfire is out of view on the photo.

My understanding from chatting to dealers and seeing what's on auto trader is that all 4 colour options on the 230 come with a black spoiler - for factory order versions. The early demo versions of the 230, however, had spoilers in the same colour as the car. A bit like the missing roof rails on early demo versions of the 230 estate.

Just waiting on delivery of my red 230 estate. I know it was in the UK 10 days ago, just need it to hurry along to the dealers now!
Getting it as a replacement for my current Jag XF Sportbrake - lovely car, but the VRS will be £150 a month cheaper, and a fair bit quicker - only 30 bhp more than the jag, but 400kg lighter!!!
Sorry to be like a broken record on this thread but could you kindly say what date you ordered it, please? Thanks!

Rob,
Love the grey on your vRS, really sets off the Black Pack Plus
Get my 230 on Tuesday, Moon White with Black Pack Plus, cannot wait!!
Paul
Best wishes for your new VRS 230. May I ask when you ordered it, please? Thanks!

My 230 was ordered second week of November. Delivery date was going to be mid-Feb until i asked to have this put off until 1st March for a 16 plate. I'm getting it 3rd March.. so that's about 12 weeks or so? Simillar lead time to a stock 220 vRS i think..
Mine's a 230 estate in meteor, with crew protection, heated nozzles and a spare wheel btw.
Is your broker "swiss tony"?
Good one! That made me chuckle. Hope everyone enjoys their new cars - hope to join you in that soon.

That red with those 19" allows :p
Mines due to be delivered on Tuesday, ordered at end of November so will be just coming up to the 13 week quoted from dealers.
Is it a 230, please? Also are you in the UK, Ireland or ? Thanks!

I've had a VRS 230 on order since 4 Nov 15 and there's no sign of an estimated build date yet. I'm hearing there is a 6 months and counting backlog of orders for the 230 (see separate topic posted a couple of days ago). May I ask if your order is via a dealer or a broker, please?Just Ordered a new vRS 230 Estate and I should have it the first week in June...Just have to wait and see....went for Black this time as I didn't fancy the white...
Should look like this....
I hope yours does come in June but you might want to seek confirmation from your supplier. Any feedback on what they tell you would be much appreciated. Thank you!

The 230 is a bit of a niche model so it is not surprising that the factory is probably more geared up for 220 and diesel vrs variants.
Understood and agreed. However, it does seem odd that 15 weeks after I ordered there's not even an estimate of build date and an apparent backlog of 'many' 230s in a similar position. To be fair, there haven't been many posts about people receiving their 230s so maybe its accurate info re the delay. I'm just a bit surprised nobody with personal experience of hearing about their 230 build dates is chipping-in.

Not Broadspeed and definitely comes via a UK dealer. I enquired at Broadspeed but they told me they couldn't ( and wouldn't) get access to VRS 230s so I moved my business elsewhere.Which broker are you using?
I was told by Broadspeed they don't use a "friendly dealer" anymore and place bulk orders directly with the factory. It's why I didn't go with them as they wouldn't give me a confirmed price or tell me when I'd likely get it.
If it's them I bet Skods aren't allocating *them* the stock, or they haven't got enough orders to meet their bulk order criteria yet and are fobbing you off with this BS.

Please don't take offense at this but has this broker decided that since you don't want it until March that he will save himself the money and not order it until a much later date so that it will arrive in March and go straight out rather than hang around?
No offence taken at all - I'm wondering similar myself hence why I'm seeking the experience of others who ordered a 230. Could also be the dealer. However, it was only circa 4 weeks between quoted delivery expectation and 16 plate time. Being a 'glass half full' type of chap I'd like to believe what I'm being told - it would just be good to hear from others.

My extras are listed below. I understand that adding so many extras can often cause a longer lead-time but that's not the issue as I'm being told it. They tell me the number of 230s ordered exceeded the allocated production slots known up to now for that variant - so 'lots of 230 orders are still in the pipeline with no estimate for build date being available at present'.
Bluetooth connectivity with voice control
SmartLink
Canton sound system
Simply clever pack
Winter pack
Heated rear seats
Space saver spare wheel
2 year warranty extension
(By the way it's black with DSG)
It would be great to hear from anyone else who has ordered a factory build VRS 230 (ie order date and the latest state of play). If the info I'm receiving is correct, there must be loads of people in the same position as me and a few who got lucky - perhaps early order dates and/or few options.
I've been really looking forward to the new car as I rather carelessly lost my MKII VRS in a divorce. I don't mind waiting if it's accurate info - it just seems odd, especially to hear nothing until I enquired today. Thanks in advance to anyone with info.

I ordered a VRS 230 on 5 Nov 15 , estimated delivery 12 weeks but asked for it to be held a bit longer before registration onto a 16 plate. It's coming from a reputable broker (but one where I don't deal with the supplying dealer, an aspect which I was nervous about).
On checking progress with the broker today, I'm informed there's a long backlog of VRS 230 orders due to very limited build slots for that special edition and that there is still no estimate for a build date) and that some 230 orders are running at 6 months.
Has anyone else had similar delays on VRS 230 orders or any inside info on this? It doesn't sound right at all to my (inexperienced) mind. Thanks!

they have all been pulled!!...was just about to put a deposit down and have now missed out!! gutted!!
Try Carfile ...... They appear to be doing 12.5% off the 230. Not as good as the 20+ % discounts that were available .... But might be of interest.

Buy from buyanewcaronline.co.uk now and you are the 1st registered keeper of a car delivered by a UK main dealer ....... And you'll get circa double the discount compared to a certain main dealer in Lincolnshire!I bought a car from them in 2009. Wouldn't do it again, I knew I would not be the first keeper on the log book however I was promised the log book within three months. It never turned up. I had to chase it up no end, then they had my address wrong. In the end I had to go through DVLA for them to sort it out. Cheap car but too much hassle.
They may have sorted their game out now but it totally put me off buying a car like that again..
VRS 230 limited edition

Hi. My beloved Octavia VRS 230 limited edition is a write-off following someone heading in the opposite direction very suddenly deciding that they preferred to drive towards us in our lane versus theirs. I’m bracing myself for the insurance settlement figure - is anyone on here able to clue me in to roughly how much I might be looking at as a ballpark figure, please? It was a 16 plate with 58500 miles (registered in Mar 16 …. 2 owners ….500 mile demo then me).
I’m gutted as I loved the car and was planning to keep it for another few years. Looking at delivery timescales for a new VRS hasn’t lightened the mood and nearly new prices are high too owing to extant market forces. Thanks in advance - I’m trying to build info to compare against the incoming figure.
