I'm not having a go at the Yeti, in fact I'm looking at replacing my XC60 with one, hence joining this forum. It just surprises me that, as you said in post 2, its not uncommon for these to fail. Other comments in this thread support this. If I have upset you with my comments, then I'm sorry, it was not intended.

Using cheap parts on many products these days is becoming more the norm to keep costs down. If its classed as "not an uncommon fault" there must be a good reason for it. What else would you think was causing it?

Bloke at the gym mentioned this to me this morning, I thought, yeah right. Did a search and came across a lot of interesting stuff. Quite a deception here. Makes a joke of the White House & takes the pi$$ out of the americans:-

Sorry can't accept that. Cheap quality materials more like.

Drive it like you stole it! Wouldn't want to be the second owner of that one.

I would be taking a photo of the melted connector and sending it to SUK. This may be something they need to look into. Inform them of the garage you took it to and what they told you. Again, good luck. Italian tune ups are normally blasting the car on the road, but can be done when stationary. On the road is the norm.

Some dirty tricks going on out there, and a good cause for having dash mounted cams to record these sods. It also gives good cops a bad name pulling stunts like this, as I'm sure some of them have fathers,

Exactly.

All the same 4 years is not good.

What ever their reasons for saying this, it will cause worry, and in some cases doubt in the car itself.
