Exactly. You get a lot of kit as standard. For me it was an upgrade into a luxury car and skodas premium vehicle. Also being rare some are not sure what it is.

My octavia elegance dsg estate will be VTd in a month or so as this family car has been replaced with a Superb Sportline TSi DSG. I thought my octavia had decent levels of equipment but the Superb is in another league. The octavia although blighted initially has been a good workhorse and reliable but my low mileage use it was time for a petrol. So i get 220ps now and more room for the growing kids and its a really really nice cabin to sit in.

Im thinking it needs a reset or update too. 5k miles was the dealer principal car prior. The dsg otherwise seems fine in fact when pushed a bit harder shifts smoother. No noises or anything else noticed. I will get it checked out though.

good information thanks. I recently purchased a 220 sportline and found the dsg shifts not so smooth especially from 1-2, 2-3 and sometimes a little hesitant. My 2014 octavia dsg diesel is smooth as silk on the upshifts so confused as to why the superb is less than.

Is it trying to stay in useable torque range hence its hunting? Do you feel the gear changes at low speeds and low gears

I have been offered (as a deal) a 66 plate (ex managers) skoda superb sportline 220ps in black. 4000 miles. Extras on the car are: Heated front seats Power tailgate Sunroof Car is £24995. Offered £7100 for my PX and also 3 year service plan thrown in. What do owners think of this offer? Thanks

The 280 4x4 sounds great but i have set a budget. The 220ps tsi sportline superb is more than adequate at present. Decently composed on the road and a smooth engine coupled with the dsg. Granted it doesnt deliver the power or the drama the way the porsche does but its a compromise. Im sure a few buyers will overlook the vrs now as the superb offers the 280ps engine.

Took advantage during the easter holidays to test drive a few potential replacements for my 2014 octavia estate diesel dsg elegance. Tried a new octavia 1.4tsi dsg. Works well with the dsg and the new tablet like infotainment system looks up to date and responds well. Not at all like the laggy and cumbersome old amundsen unit. Kodiaq 2.0 diesel dsg. Nice enough inside but adding options makes them quite expensive. Not the most involving to drive. More like being in command of a large boat. Superb sportline 2.0 tsi dsg. Really suprised by this. Huge interior, air of upmarket quality inside, decent looks and as quick as the vrs. Kia optima sportwagon. Probably not the greatest to drive but totally loaded with kit and for good money. Shame its diesel only. I wasnt going to opt for another skoda but the superb sportline is seriously a nice place to sit and though not as quick as my boxster may satisfy the petrolhead in me and be able to carry as much luggage and kids as my outgoing Octavia.

But it's not all about the vRs. There are other trims in the range. If the vrs is compared then maybe compare against the likes of the vxr class insignia (vauxhalls sports saloon - 4wd over 300bhp). Maybe a bit for more fair as both are 'sporty saloons' My octavia is no better or worse than my neighbours new i40. Though the octavia is not as wide. When i opted for the octavia I considered ford Mondeos, Mazda6, Honda accords. All similar prices for similar equipment. I did not consider a merc, BMW, lexus, Jag etc. These are at differing ends of the car sector and if one is considering a premium brand I struggle to see how one would settle for a skoda.
