  1. You don't have to take anything apart to check the drains are clear. Just open the sunroof and front doors and looking from the top (you'll need something to stand on!) with some water in a jug pour it slowly into the front corners of the sunroof frame where the drain holes are. If clear, the water should run away and come out of a rubber grommet about two thirds the way down the door jamb. If the water "pools" in the sunroof channel or isn't coming out of the grommet at roughly the same speed as you're pouring it in, the drain tube(s) may be blocked. There are many photos on the "other" forum showing where and what has to be done. Hope this helps!
  2. Hello Macfell, It really depends on why the sunroof is leaking and the first thing to check is whether one or both of the front drains are flowing freely and not become blocked (a simple DIY job). If they're OK and considering your car is out of warranty, it really depends on how good a relationship you have with your dealer. Did you buy it from them, have they serviced it for you from new, etc. because they would have to justify the problem to Skoda UK to get any "goodwill" reimbursement. You could also go direct to Skoda UK through their "Customer Service", but it is time consuming and I don't know how much success you'd have without knowing EXACTLY why the sunroof is leaking. Good luck!
  3. Although it took a month, the problem has apparently been solved. After changing both front drain hoses, removing the sunroof cassette, sealing all the joints, trying a new cassette, etc, the sunroof was still leaking. The dealer then put blocks under each pair of side wheels, then the front and back wheels to water test the roof at different angles. It was eventually discovered that water was getting in past the thin rubber gasket that goes around the hole cut in the metal roof. The "U" shaped rubber gasket is glued to the edge of the hole in the roof as a "trim" around the sunroof glass and apparently wasn't sealed properly all the way round. Water was getting in when parked at certain angles, running along the inside of the groove and dripping onto the cassette and headliner. The complete sunroof and gasket were removed, the hole in the roof cleaned and prepped and a new gasket fitted with a special sealant. Although out of warranty, Skoda agreed to pay for the repair and I negotiated a two year parts and labour warranty against any future leaks along with two year service plan at no cost. I'm happy with the result, but more importantly, my Yeti is nice and dry inside! Finding the problem was mostly labour, but FYI the following parts were required: F5N0877459A Seal/Gasket, FD00940104 Cleaner & FD00920002 Primer.
  4. My Yeti is currently with the dealer for the third time with a leaking sunroof that started in January. It's been in since the week before Christmas and before it went in this time I raised a Case Number with Skoda UK because a. A new, "top of the range" L&K sunroof with drains checked and cleaned regularly shouldn't have started leaking at two years old, and b. This the third time for two plus weeks each time, so why hasn't the dealer, who I'm told is "liaising" with Skoda "technical", been able to identify and solve the problem? I pulled the headliner down at the front myself when it first started and checked for the obvious (pinched hoses, leaking connectors, blocked drains etc) but it was none of those with water dripping from the plastic cassette onto the headliner, running down the A pillar covers and off the back of the instrument panel and fuse box onto the carpet and filling both driver and passenger footwells. I managed to divert the leaks, dry it all out, sealed the sunroof from the outside and removed the fuse while waiting for a courtesy car to become available, but it's a pain. Whether it's a design, manufacturing or installation fault and appreciating that the source of a water leak isn't always easy to find, a sunroof isn't exactly "rocket science" and I'm not prepared to have it back until I know what it was, how it was fixed and guarantees it won't happen again, or perhaps "it's not fit for purpose". Watch this space!
  5. Can't see the photos with Yeti_Man's original post which would be helpful and don't know why. Tried a PM, but Yeti_Man, can't accept messages. Can anyone help? Thanks
  6. Kevin Apologies for the late reply, but I got sidetracked from doing any mods in that my current Yeti "may" be replaced! Your diagram was helpful and I also found it on the internet and managed to take the grille (7&9) out and the silver part (3) off quite easily once I found where the clips holding them on were, but I'd like to take the spoiler (2) off without taking the whole bumper cover (1) off and it's not obvious how it's attached. I'm looking for a workshop manual, but none I've found are for the "facelift" outdoor, so I'm a bit stumped. Thanks, Ed
  7. There has been considerably more info on this subject on the "other" Yeti Owner's website and the answer to your question is "yes" & "no"! I was notified by Skoda UK about two weeks ago that the "fix" was finally available and was booked in at my local dealer last Friday. On Wednesday they called to cancel and apologised because of some "confusion" with Skoda "Technical" at Milton Keynes on how to do it. In the meantime another owner in Ireland with the same problem posted that his Yeti had been fixed by his dealer last week, so I contacted my dealer again yesterday and I'm waiting for a response.
  8. Skoda UK finally confirmed on Friday that "some" UK vehicles were built after week 45 without navigation information on the MaxiDot and it is NOT normal as previously suggested. There will be a software update for the Maxi-DOT and Amundsen Plus (as the upgraded unit is called) and the "Product Development Team" are looking into it, but are currently unable to confirm a date when it will be available to dealers. They also confirmed Skoda UK will not be notifying customers because it is not a "safety issue" and anybody without navigation information on the MaxiDot should take it up with their dealer. It's taken a while, but shows that the collective input from people on "owner" websites can make things happen! "Thanks" to all!
  9. Looks interesting in that Alex and Nick with 0136 software in their Amundsens have nav menu/info in the MaxiDot and I, with 0133 don't. My dealer has promised to call me as soon as he gets the software update, so it will be interesting to see what happens!
  10. And mine was 0133. So far we have have two Elegance owners who chose to have their sat navs upgraded that work and owners with L&Ks with the Amundsen sat nav as "standard" that don't. Could it be only an L&K problem? I've asked my dealer to check any they have coming through and let me know so I can get some photos and if anybody has a "friendly" dealer and could do the same it might prove helpful. I appreciate we're doing Skoda's work for them, but they haven't been particularly helpful so far and we may stumble on something that will help our fellow owners!
  11. What you say is true llanigraham, but in spite of any "small print" disclaimers you will find on the back of the brochures, at the bottom of all emails and in front of the manuals, if it turns out (and I suspect it will) that the Maxi Dot with the Amundsen in the Yeti L&K is CLEARLY "not as described" and hence "not fit for purpose", those with the problem have to decide whether they’re prepared to live with it. I, for one, am not.
  12. OK, latest. Just returned from a surprise visit to the dealer. Interestingly Skoda UK has been in touch with them about my complaint. The software upgrade mentioned above (PaveyArk) is due in about two weeks and they have promised to notify me when it's available, but they have no information as to what it's for even though they spoke to Skoda "Technical" while I was there. The general feeling however, and from their past experience they don't think it's for the MaxiDot problem. Unfortunately they didn't have a Yeti available with the new Amundsen so we couldn't compare a later one with mine. I will wait until the software upgrade is available before deciding the way to go.
  13. Thanks Urrell! See YOC post.
  14. After taking my L&K into the dealer to complain about no sat nav menu, compass or guidance info on the MaxiDOT, Skoda UK advised today that navigation information is NOT available on the Maxi DOT with the "new" Amundsen sat nav. A retrograde step IMO and at odds with all info in brochures, on line and in the car's manual. It seems this applies to ALL cars built since week 45 with the supposedly "upgraded" Amundsen and Skoda said there is no fix in the pipeline as previously suggested. Anyone else with the same problem or heard anything different?
