  1. I know this post is some time ago, it is always worth opening the switch up and cleaning the contacts with some emery board. They can be very intermittent, (wondering about you observing the indicator in the switch flickering) I am not aware of any CAN bus involvement with the switch.
  2. If anyone is looking to repair the stock tweeters in their doors these replacement coil membranes are a good fit. Will need a bit of glue (pva) and soldering but perform as new once put back in. 2pcs 19.43mm 19.5 Core Crystal Film 19.4 19.5 Core Tweeter Speaker Voice Coil Black Translucent Treble Ring Speaker Accessories - Speaker Accessories - AliExpress
  3. Can I have the price (posted) for the rear wiper motor please
  4. Driving a standard setup TDI 110 elegance on 16" factory fit alloys. I have repeatedly selected pirelli p6000 tyres as they seem to last reasonably well, however they seem to start to tramline quite badly after 12mths use and as the weather goes cooler, and I can feel very slight 'feathering' on the treadpatterns of them all. This is the 4th set this car has had and I am looking for a better choice next time This car has had a 'Hunter' 4 wheel alignment setup done and all was found to be ok. Anyone recommend tyres that are better for 'steering feel' on this car?
  5. You mentioned the price has dropped? or is that the £120 in your first post James
  6. I am going to replace the rack in my TDI 110 in new year and was wondering if anyone can recommend any of the companies advertising on the internet and ebay that refurbish racks? Thnaks
  7. How much for electric mirror switch?
  8. This sounds like the same problem I had in the summer. Due to age the laser finally packed up on mine so I replaced it with another - it is made by Panasonic. At first it was just certain discs that it wouldn't read then it grew progressively worse. The downside is they cost around £30+vat at trade so sometimes you can get a second hand cd changer from ebay for around the same price. Of course you have to be handy with the screwdrivers etc to take it all apart too. Works fine now though.
  9. Recently I have started to notice a small puddle of water around the bottom right area of the boot seal when the tailgait is opened. Also there seems to be a surface covering on the right hand area of the seal near the 'notchback' area. Is this a sign the boot seal is on ots way out or is there something I am missing. There has been no damage to the vehicle I have owned it for 10 years, but this has developed this winter.
  10. I have just had a similar experience but the door intermittently would open, the cause was the loom - where it enters the door, the wire insulation had fatigued and cracked in the cold weather, and after 9years! Repaired the loom and all is well. The internal grommet appeared to never have be inserted into the metal causing it to wear the wire insulation from the start. Hope you are successful in getting it open. I wondered if you could get the door card off then power artificially the motor (9v battery) by finding the wire colour then it maybe possible to undeadlock without smashing the lock assembly? - remember to unplug from the control module in the door first. The motor wire colours are: Yellow(plane) and Green(plane) (according to Haynes) - which was correct for my 2000X reg Facelift Mk1 Hope you succeed James
  11. Thanks, it could well be. I will see if I can seal them to slow it down anyway. James
  12. I cant work out how to upload pictures yet.......
  13. Around 4years ago I drilled 4 holes in the bumper to fit reversing sensors. They are located in the black trim but I had to drill the bumper itself behind the trim to make room for them. Now after 4 years the paint is starting to turn grey around the drill holes and this is slowly travelling so it can be seen beyond the black trim (see photos) Is there a reason for this? Can it be stopped? Only two of the holes have gone this way Any thoughts welcome
  14. My Octi has developed a grinding noise (metal on metal) sound when accelerating or releasing the clutch especially on hot dry days. Sound comes from the nearside front wheel - ish. Especially performs when accelerating up hills unaffected by steering direction. Wheel bearing? CV joint? Gearbox / Diff bearings? Any clues guys. Seldom does it in winter!
