  1. HI, a pheasant decided to commit suicide on my vrs front bonnet grill. The black plastic grill and also chrome surround are damaged. The local main dealer said he could get the surround but not the grill alone, told me i need to get a whole new bumper??

I understand the grill is bonded to the bumper, has anyone easily removed/replaced the grill and surround without replacing the whole bumper?

I read you can remove the old bits by snapping them out and breaking the mounts. As they are already broken i might be able to do this but i dont want to damage the bumper. If i get the bumper removed is it just a matter of cutting the bonding then popping the old grill out?

Anyone who has upgraded the grill to the superskoda honeycomb replacement how did you do this?

Does anyone have the OEM part number for the grill and surround?

This is for my 2014 vrs hatchback.

    Cheers.

  2. I would suggest you ring another dealers parts department. Say you want price for the space saver spare kit (including the jack). I have looked at Skoda accessories on line and they start at £41. Sure it's around £60. Think you've been quoted for another alloy plus jack etc. Then ring your dealers parts department.

Currently waiting on quote from another dealer. But new space saver with tool kit for vrs on a well known auction site is £330 (part number 5K0601011AA for wheel)

  3. How come it is £330 for a space saver. Sure its nowhere near that as an accessory, even with the jack etc.

I bought the car used with 6k on the clock from the dealer so it came with the foam can in the boot :(. When i bought it i asked about a spare wheel and they quoted me about £330.

  4. Www.mytyres.co.uk sell individual alloys or steels with tyres.

I got one for my last car for around £120

I tried their website, they dont list the 2.0tdi vrs octavia. I emailed them and they said there is no confirmation from skoda about suitable replacements or there not in stock.

  5. Hi,

Looking for a spare wheel for my VRS hatchback. Dealer wanted approx £330 for a space saver with tool kit, thinking about a full size 2nd hand alloy with tyre.

Does anyone know if a full size alloy with tyre will fit in the spare wheel space in the hatchback boot?

Also i understand i need a minimum 17" alloy to clear the front brake calipers, but does anyone know what spec wheel i need, ie pcd, offset etc?

  6. Hi Exeterj, in post 47 i could only see 2 parts of the electrical system not the whole manual. Do you have the whole manual?

I have found this info about the access code to turn cc on - "The Cruise Control may need activating via the ECU, This is a 5 minute job & can be done with VAG-COM or VW diagnostic tool 1551, 5051 or a VW Dealer / Specialist in your area.

    [select]

    [01 - Engine]

    [Login - 11]

Enter 11463 to activate cruise control

    [Do It!]

    16167 to De-activate cruise control"

Is this the activation code you mentioned?

  7. The steering wheel has to come off to access the stalk switches. The replacement set has both left and right stalks. Cruise control on left hand side and wipers on the right hand all installed in 1 unit.

I wasnt aware of the dealer sd card for coding, i thought this was all done by vcds.

  8. Thanks for your reply. Ive looked through the manuals in the post 42, excellent post but the full electrical system manual is not on there.

Does anyone have the full electical system manual?

Ive managed to get a second hand cruise control switch set and i know someone with vcds who can program it for me.

  9. Hi, been lurking for a while -1st post :), but ive just bought a 14 reg vrs 2.0 tdi hatch cr in black magic and now im just waiting to collect it from the dealer next week.

Ive got a few questions regarding upgrades please.

I have the bolero stereo with the aux socket and usb under the climate controls, and single cd slot and sd card slot in the glovebox.

I have an ipod classic 120gb (non-firewire) which i would like to connect to the bolero and be able to search different albums/playlists/podcasts etc using the bolero or multifunction steering wheel buttons.

I want more than just skip next track etc.

What do i need to get this working? Ive heard peolpe mention mdi and matsumi but i asked my dealer about this and i was told as i dont have mdi installed i cant do what i want. Does it need coding?

Can i retrofit the required parts?

I dont care if i loose the cd, sd, aux in and usb functionallity as long as i can control my ipod classic fully.

    next q!

I dont have cruise control but i would really like it.

Dealer has quoted £325 fitted and coded.

What parts do i need to retrofit it myself please? can i get a full kit, or do i need to buy separate bits?

I know someone with vcds so i can get it coded.

As the car is only a 14 plate its covered under the warranty, if i do the above retrofits myself and get my mate to code it is this gonna void my warranty? Can they check that someone else has coded stuff not the dealer?

    Many thanx in advance :)
