  1. I know this info is on here somewhere, but I am searching from my phone and it's a bit tricky.

I'm searching for new front discs for my 64 reg vrs TDI dsg. Euro at parts give 3 options. Without taking the wheel off and measuring one of you brilliant people must know. Oh it's an estate if that makes any difference. Ta

  2. I brought a 4 pack of 500ml bottles of redex in costco as it was only £11.50. It's enough for 16 tankfulls. Its for my diesel vrs. Any body have any thoughts? Does it make any difference? Can it do any harm?

  3. The cigarette lighter is an option (in the UK) as standard it has two 12v sockets, but if the front one has been "optioned" as a cigarette lighter, then it should not be used as an output socket. It's probably got more wigglyamp thingies being fed to it than a standard 12v socket. Saying that, we have all been using cigarette lighters as power sockets for years. Just do it! but have a fire extinguisher to hand just in case.

  4. It's probably that what you are looking at is not the rear hub, but is in fact the inner part of the disc . Disc brakes are made with high iron content, this can be seen as rust when they get wet, even after a few hours. Disc inners are coated to prevent this, but inevitably some corrosion will eventually show. At the end of the day, they are a wear and tear replaceable item, so are not covered by warranty unless they are faulty

  5. I didn't know that each time you pressed the vrs mode button it cycles through the modes without having to select it from the infotainment screen. With dsg box you can tell the mode without taking your eyes off the road because the gear selection indicator on the maxidot changes from E to S To D as you press the button. I assume it works on non vrs cars with mode buttons

  6. Ok it's arrived, and it's gorgeous and I definitely got lucky. As I said it's only 4 months old. It came from motorpoint, but was registered to lex. At least that means it's a UK car not an import. Previous owner went mad on the options As follows:

DSG box. Loving it. Should read up on it really,

    Race blue paint. Great colour

Black pack. Would of selected that myself

Columbus satnav. Good, still playing with it. But I have watched a DVD for fun

Canton sound. Really good sound, but disappointed that you can't alter much in settings

Powered boot. Great. Dogs love it, but a lot of money for something I can do myself

Bluetooth+ phone boost compartment. I Suppose it's working!

Full leather heated seats. Really really nice

Dual floor boot. Great to hide little things away.

Spare wheel, a must, and would of selected it myself

Self parking. Tried it in Sainsbury carpark. It works fine. But something I can do myself

    Sunset glass

It's got the iPod holder thingy, but no rubbish bin in the door

I love the Vrs button sports mode. It's like they had a 10 year old boy in the design studio for a day, and asked him what would you put on a car. And he replied " A BUTTON YOU PRESS THAT MAKES IT SOUND LIKE A RACING CAR". Awesome

I will get the camera out at the weekend

  7. Thanks for the advice. I am picking it up tomorrow (tues) and hopefully the v5 will tell me where it's come from. I think it's a UK one,I have brought from them before, but I have noticed some strange specs on cars. The seem to get a few southern Irish cars with smaller engines than UK ones due to the Irish vat. However as they only had one Vrs on their site,I think (hope) it's a good one. Pictures to follow.

  8. Freedom your probably right, but it did have a full width rear reflector instead of the 2 smaller ones.

It's interesting, and I am sure it happens to everyone, that once you get interested in a particular car, you seem to notice a lot more of them. I keep seeing race blue octavia 3s, and think they are vRS, but most aren't.

  9. I ordered a nearly new vrs combi from motorpoint car supermarket. It was on there web site, and got delivered to my local branch for me to go and give it the once only today. And will be collecting it next week once the finances are fully sorted

It's a 4 month old 64 plate diesel with dsg box in race blue

On there web advert they listed the fitted options as:

    Metallic paint £360

    Satnav £500

After seeing the car in the flesh today. It's actually fitted with:

Columbus nav with colour maxidot display

    Canton sound system

    Black pack

    Full leather with heating

    Electric tailgate

Also fitted with the following which I am not sure are standard or options

    Height adjustable floor

Cup thing with a slot in the top for your ipod

    WELL CHUFFED

  10. Buzzards. I am just getting rid of my 93 sportwagon 150 vector sport for an Oct 3. They are lovely to drive. Still look very handsome and parts have never been a problem. Saab didn't die like rover did. They still have official dealers and service centers and an official parts supply company. They have even started making them again in China. I even contemplated getting another one. There are some great value low mileage twin turbines out there. Final point. I am a fleet manager, so drive lotS if different cars. I have never driven a car with better headlights than my saab. On full beam they turn night into day.

  11. After years of saying "I want one of them" I finally say good by to my trusty saab 93 sportswagon and say hello vrs. Take delivery this weekend octavia vrs combi tdi dsg in race blue with black pack full leather canton sound and Columbus nav. Can't wait. I do hope I won't be disappointed. It's going to make mine and the 2 spaniel drive to work so much nicer. Tell me I have done the right thing.
