  1. He did send me the photo of his lawn visible through the sump lol. Not seen it with other wheels though, only these. Looked best on the spiders lol bug they were the wrong profile. Gotta say though he fixed the door module which cured the central locking and between me and him that cars way better than when I bought it. Definitely a saver now rather than a scrapper
  2. my gsi has the stalk issue, cant be operated with 1 finger but I'm not to fussed. The vxr has a better stalk for cruise but it's the weird one touch operation for indicating and the wipers that gets me confused lol. Will do as they will both be getting work done
  3. It didnt help that the central locking issue I was trying to fix left my passenger door open one night and i had over a grands worth of tools and my vcds laptop taken! The passenger doors locked fine until i removed the loom from the drivers door which made the passenger front door lock then unlock. I hadn't noticed and it cost me big time! After that I'd lost interest in the car. Was going to race it next season but o well. Yes new cars on air and I love it, the diamond cut wheels look awesome too but takes me forever to park it! This car just works for me and the family, full leather, heated seats, tvs for the kids and turbo noises for me lol. The gsi if I keep it will be turned into a track bus of sorts, be cool to put 6 buckets in it lol. Ebay is ken_zs 😉
  4. So that didnt work out for long, cars gone. All the reasons I sold my first vrs came back with a bang and tbh this car was just full of issues that ground me down to the point of no return. Knowing my zafira would now be off the road a lot longer than I'd planned as it needs the bottom end rebuilt on top of all the head and parts I've bought I Px'd the octy in for another zafira I'd been wanting to buy for over 6 months. The nail in the coffin was after I'd repaired both off side door looms the module which I was assured by the previous owner had been changed was completely knackered with 3 pins snapped off and green as anything! Will be selling all my vag bits now from this car and my old one. Keep an eye on Ebay, the Abd inlet will be first along with some lock mechanisms, parcel shelf, lcr sub frame etc etc New car pic just to say bye (again)
  5. Was wondering if this car was still around after my 4 years away from skoda, glad to see you've still got it. You guys still doing ring trips?
  6. So the car came with a pioneer double din with no CD slot 😟 just this bluetooth streaming thing lol. Well I found a hdmi on the back and had a thought, now TV in the car lol. Also a pic of the replaced vent and the fuse box on the battery, looks so clean for a 13 year old part!
  7. I've heard they dont really do much but they look good lol
  8. So few more bits done, will upload pics eventually but it turned out the guy who got me into these black Octavia's still owned one, well two but his black one is on a trailer complete ready for the scrap yard! Now I'm suppose to be fixing my zafira but this is an opportunity I cant miss. So far I've replaced the following from this car. Centre air vent as mine had been broken by a phone holder. Boot inside trim as mine was missing. Roof aerial stalk as the car had a ****e shark fin thing in plastic! Drivers door mirror as mine has the wrong glass and no communication to vcds. Drivers window switch pack as the one touch was a little hit and miss. I also fitted the battery fuse box and tray and the alternator loom. The car broke down on its trip back from getting the wheels 100 miles from home on the m1 in road works! Lost charge to the battery and as they do no light came on warn me about the charge but the abs, traction, stereo and throttle pedal all gave up. The box was melted and bodged up. Managed to change the fuse and get it home. I fitted a Ebay £13 special fuse box but the loom was still burning hot both at the alternator and fuse box. Well my friend had never heard of this issue (lucky as hes had 4 Octavia's) and his loom and original fuse box looked good. Fitted them today and no more burning hot loom. Touch. The battery tray and fixings for the fuse box were broken on the car so changed them too. Bits to fit. Got a nice Abd inlet manifold which il fit when I can find my soldering iron to fit the resistors under it for the deletes. Neuspeed rear anti roll bar. All 4 door cards are in better condition, my car has golf GTI red recaros seats and the previous owner spray painted the white inserts of the door cards so I wanna try match the new ones to the seats or I may even try find a original white and leather set of seats. Overall the car is getting there. I've also bought a cloud9 catch can and 2 locking mechs to solve the 2 doors not working on the central locking. (I'm having the door looms out the doner car just in case). Centre caps have arrived for the wheels with the current skoda badge, need to fit them. Il do some paint correction and a polish st some point. Also considering joining the vwdrc for some drag racing next year. My old car did something like a 15.21 at 89 ish so thats a target to beat. Ultimately I'm very happy back in a vrs, ok I wish it didnt have the issues I'd have liked to have been made aware of but it's a old car so I cant be to mad. Just happy I know these cars enough to sort it. Ps my friends other vrs is a White ex police vrs with a tfsi conversion that he needs to get back kn the road. One day it will.
  9. Haha yes their wrong at 205 40 17, I got excited and assumed they were 205 50 17, il wear these out then go 50 profile, I needed the 225s off, they rubbed so much
  10. Also has new drop links as this was noticed a week ago, not good lol
  11. Small update, made a 400 mile round trip to see oggy1234 and now she is wearing these
  12. This is why I'm glad I kept my vcds while I didnt have a vag car lol
  13. So I've got a cloud9 catch can to fit and will be finishing the deletes as their not quite right. Need to get the resistors. The lcr splitters gone for now, cars to damn low and is off tomo to have it raised and tracked, it's on the same Fk streets I'd fitted to my last vrs meaning their wrong for the car and the rear springs are over compressed. They'll have to do for now, gonna change the 225/45/17s on the Audi wheels to the 205/50/17s they came with hopefully on a set of spiders as I love those wheels. The abs lights came on Sunday so need to scan that, hopefully it's just a sensor
  14. Shes not bad, has had a stage 1 map according to paperwork but it's not the 230bhp the advert said it was, its had the deleted done and a ramair on it, to be honest other than those mods if there are any more including the coilovers I'm gonna remove them and fit better as it's all been done on a budget which I cant mean about as my old one was the same. I'm not keen on the Audi wheels either, looking for 18s. Zaf will be cared for correctly, it's already a rare version as it dont leak any oil lol, gonna keep both these cars just because their getting rare in good condition
  15. I'm back lol. So slight announcement to this thread, I found myself in need of another car while I'm rebuilding my zafira gsi and saw a 05 plate black magic vrs on facebook and thought better the devil you know and have collected it. If I'm honest it too low so il be winding the coils up asap, I tore the splitter off on the drive home and I was being careful! New one may go on eventually but for now I need to replace both os door mechs, figure out the mirror switch only moving the ns mirror (I have the switch off my old car still) and fit a new middle vent as a phone holder appears to have destroyed it. Plan is once the zafira is road worthy again (she smokes like James bonds aston) this car will be cleaned up, will fit the cupra r and tt bits I still have lying around and get her on track. Cant wait.
  16. Well gotta be honest the zafira is great for size and flexibility but it's been a mechanical knightmare and I miss my octy so much, still got some bits off it in me garage like the front bumper as a reminder. This is update though as if the new job I have gone for comes through il be in the market for a mk2 vrs 170 diesel estate in blue for the mpg and the gsi will go as its rubbish on fuel
  17. Hope you guys have a great time, im already putting a shopping list together for the gsi for next year as im 100% coming
  18. So this is going to be the saddest post il ever post on briskoda. Having got so far with this car and done things I'll never forget (bringing my daughter home from hospital when she was born to racing around snetterton) im not going any further with it. Part of me is very sad as I have so many parts to fit and enjoy but the cars not in a good way and has never run right since buying it. Rear arches are very rusty, sills are as strong as paper, the windscreen cracked when I popped in on buddy and the insides no longer big enough for family commitments I have coming up. So last monday I showed the other half a picture of a car I was attempting to describe to her and to my amazement instead of the usual "not another car" comment I got "I want it" followed by "il front you the money untiĺ you get the money back on your car". So after checking she was feeling ok and I werent dreaming I collected this yesterday, only 220 miles from my house but well worth it. Ellie dont look impressed in the photo but on her first trip she slept the whole time so must mean she's happy. So as I say the vrs is being parted out, really wanted to keep this car forever and would have loved to sell it on but with the issues it wouldn't be fair or economical to do. If your after anything feel free to message. Wanna say how great this forum is, so much information on here and I found the car through the site so thank you for that.
  19. I think nangkang are including the side walls in the measurement cos 310mm is huge, your not wrong that they are wider but they aint 12 inches wide. That side once your back from the ring with a report on them they maybe on my shopping list
  20. Also dave who measured your tyres at 310mm wide? 225 is the width in mm so if were saying 235 on the rim that would make sense but a 12" wide tyre on a 8" rims abit odd
  21. https://www.towsure.com/towing-spring-assisters?gclid=CM7lrZGQiNQCFakV0wod3DUM3Q Heres the things I was talking about, cheap but will upset the balance as I guess they would up the spring rate, thats if you can find a pair to fit between your coils Before you roll the arches get your plastic liners trimmed back I little as that might give ya the gap needed, on the other hand might give ya metal on tyre
  22. Few options you could consider If in good nick get your arches rolled (something id like done but would need major metal surgery at same time) You can get spring helpers which fit between your coils, designed for trailer and caravan towing but have a use in the modified world too. Get a small amount of your wheel hub milled away but only if you would have enough left over to not cause strength issues Or this option which is get some wear on those tyres and go for a falken next time lol
  23. So I have completed my parts haul and then some lol! Picked this up yesterday locally off a 79k lcr, only wanted the steering rack but the guy wouldn't split it up so now have a spare sub frame, cast arms and lcr roll bar which hopefully I can selĺ for the price I paid and get a free quick rack yay. Gonna clean it all up and give it all a lick of paint and hope to have the rack and other bits I have had for ages finally fitted up then il be booking another track day and give the pod another run or 2
  24. Any money they ran out of gas. The air con machines are idiot proof as long as you can read and have access to the filling amounts which ud assume skoda have you cant go wrong! Also you would have thought they would try book you in for investigation work. Weird garage, im removing my system as its leaking and wanna loose the weight. If ya do need any bits let me no and il send them up, pump and condenser are fine, think its a o ring thats dried out
