  1. Any pics?

I'd definitely make the trip. Even if it breaks down so terminally that you can't drive it, at least you are back to your original plan. As the lads say here, bring a few perishable parts and best advice already stated is to try and drive it a bit for a while to get everything moving and bending; always good for a car.

  2. Hi all,

Alas, the time has come for me to replace my Octavia 1.

I'm looking at an Octavia 2 2006 to 2008 Diesel.

It's been along time since I purchased a car and when I did they were all new so I'm wondering what is high milege on this type of model?

    A lot I see are from 85k to 170k.

Is this normal and if I was to get an Ambiente with for about €7.5k with 110miles on it in the 07, would that be a good deal?

Also, would there be a good petrol alternative in the Octavia range. It's economy I'm looking at as I am based in Sth Kildare commuting.

    Any help would be appreaciated.

    Thanks

    K

  3. Guys,

    I have a 2001 1.4 Octavia with 107000 miles on the clock.

I have few bob saved and I'd prefer to keep the car I have rather than roll the dice on somebody else's possible trouble.

Although, all seems well, I'm looking to have somebody take detailed look at it to make sure it's good for another 100000 miles: bhp test, timing belt (changed at 80), shocks, steering and so on.

I don't want to take it to a Skoda dealer as I'm hoping to cut the overall coast and be able to invest in tiding up the interior, small broken parts replacement some bodywork repair.

If anybody knows a suitable place, preferably near Dublin, where I could go and get a decent assessment I'd be grateful.

  4. Hi all, I need a favour.

Would anybody know of or have access to a garage for about two days?

I need to do some service work on my car.

Ideally, I'd like it to have a water point for a pressure cleaner, indoor lighting and be able to be locked overnight.

It doesn't have to be in Dublin and I'm not looking for a freebie so if you could help me out, I'd be grateful.
