I'm toying with the idea of fitting a Columbus / RNS510 head unit in my 2012 VRS estate.
It came with the Bolero / Kufatec fiscon combo.
I'm just wondering what I would need to complete the install?
Is the Kufatec compatible with the Columbus or will I have to buy a new Bluetooth module?
Are there any bits other than the head unit that I need?
I realise the Columbus will need coded in using VCDS.

I know this topic has been covered many times but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer.
I have a 2012 VRS and have tried a few generic / universal covers on and they just slide off the bottom.
Does anyone make a decent tailored cover?
I only need a front one.

I currently own a CR170 VRS and having driven many a PD I can safely say that the common rail is the much superior engine.
People talk about better torque with the PD.
The torque does peak around 2K when you get that shove in the back but it tails off dramatically afterwards. It's a bit like the old Honda VTEC where the power nose dived before the VTEC crossover to give the illusion of a massive surge of power. The newer iVTECs then came along and the crossover was barely noticeable but they were in fact faster.
The common rail has a nice turbo petrol-esque power delivery with power available right the way through the rev range plus it's so much smoother and quieter than the rather agricultural rattle box PD. As for looking after the fuel system, use BP ultimate diesel, throw a bottle of good fuel system cleaner in every few months, warm the car up gradually on every run, get a period of sustained highish revs at some point and stay off boost to allow the turbo to cool for the last minute or so.
I've been doing that for years and have never had a single injector / DPF / EGR problem with any of my diesel cars.

It's on the first page. First post
Sent from my Galaxy S5
Thanks - there was some debate in regard to correct fitment but I see the original post has been edited.

To save me sifting through 33 pages can anyone tell me what the part numbers are for the best fitting front and rear badges and centre caps for a facelift estate?

Hi guys.
I have a facelift (2012) Octavia VRS estate and I want to buy a spare chrome grille surround and have it colour coded (race blue). I want to keep my original one chrome.
The roof bars are black and I'd like to buy silver replacements as I prefer the look of them.
Does anyone know the Skoda part numbers for the facelift grille surround and silver roof rails?

Looking at buying a set of genuine CHs.
The only fitment that BBS seem to do in 19" that fits the Octavia is 19 x 8 (ET50).
I think they'll look good. The silver CHs against race blue is always a winner.
Does anyone have any pics of said wheels in 19" on a blue VRS?

Have admired these in the 1Z facelift guise for a while now and have just bought one as our new workhorse!
It's a 2012 DSG 2.0TDi 170BHP common rail with 36K on the clock.Drives really well, smooth and torquey as you'd expect from the common rail lump plus it does between 40-50mpg depending on the length of your journey so best of both worlds.I've added Eibach pro kit springs and spacers and a genuine boot liner and VRS mats to finish it off along with a personal reg.I've been thinking about fitting the black version of the Neptune wheels that are on the car but I'm in 2 minds.- 2

Do you have the box of the CSC?
It'll have an ECP number, either a fabricated Sachs number or a genuine one (which you can confirm on Sach's part number catalogue) and where it's made.
ECP often put their sticker over the 'Made in China' text I've found.
-
Gulp ! I just had the complete DMF, clutch and CSC replaced by Sachs stuff, and that does not now make me very happy
Don't worry about the clutch or DMF, they're all genuine European Sachs items. It just applies to some of the CSCs.
-
First I've heard of any of this. I'm suggesting that someone here doesn't like ECP......................
I've used Crossland filters in the part, and they are far from "rubbish". And I'm sure Sachs would never allow fake components to be marketed as their own. Just the same as Kelloggs don;t make cereals for anyone else.
Mike
Crossland filters don't exist anymore, the name was bought recently by ECP.
Oh and I've nothing against them.
I spend £15K+ with them per month so I know what to buy and what to avoid.
I'll post pics of the Chinese Sachs CSCs when I get back into my shop on Monday if you wish?
-
Lucas as well, which ECP are bizarrely branding their Chinese wheel bearings as.
Oh, they've also into Sachs so deep that Sachs are allowing them to have unbranded concentric slave cylinders that are made in China put into Sachs boxes with a fake Sachs number on them - IE - a Sachs number that doesn't exist in any catalogue.

They're a fairly satin finish mate.
