  1. Thank you to everyone for your comments regarding my dilemma about engine choice - They have been most useful in helping me to make up my mind about whether or not to change the engine spec for my new Yeti. It is apparent that the majority of comments were in favour of the 170 and it was useful to know also about the bigger brakes. With all of this in mind and indeed responding to my own gut reaction, I have been in contact with the local dealership who following my instruction were able to change my factory order to the 170 engine. At least in the future I will have peace of mind and won't be thinking I should have gone for the more powerful engine - It just remains now for me to wait until the new vehicle arrives which hopefully will be sometime in April. Best wishes to you all, Yetifinn

    140 or 170

Hello all, I recently ordered from my local dealer a Yeti Outdoor Elegance 2.0 TDI 140PS 4x4 manual DPF to replace my Golf Mk 7 GT 150PS. My reasons for switching to a Yeti having had 6 Golfs are that I have always liked the Yeti since it's inception and that I would like a bit more room and comfort for the dog who will now be able to reside in the back. The 4x4 option also appeals due to my country pursuits. Having read some of the articles within the forum I am now thinking that I should have ordered the 170 version. I test drove a 140 and was well impressed with the driveability, overall feel of the vehicle and indeed the performance which was great for the driving that I did. But, for the sake of only less than another £700 I could have ordered a more powerful, more economic and more green version in the 170. It may be too late to change my spec but perhaps not? I am not a "petrolhead" and tend to drive conservatively but will I miss the out and out power delivered by a 140 when needed compared to my 150 golf? I also do the occasional longer journey where a more powerful engine might make it easier. I can see some downsides to a 170. Namely increased insurance premiums and possibly a more restrictive resale audience when the time comes to move the vehicle on. I would be very interested in the forum's opinions on this matter... P.S. Apart from the Amundsen Sat Nav, I ordered no additional options with my Elegance but seriously considered the variable boot floor. If I decide and am able to change my order spec I may go down the variable boot floor road - any thoughts on this would also be gratefully received.
