  1. Got the baby home. Delivery on 29/4 at 9am. Both father and baby doing fine ;-) Allams of Epsom did a good job, the car was in the show room, sparklingly clean and with my name on a sign. Feel bad I didn't say good bye to the old mk3 (13reg) properly ;-) took my two year old and he was in heaven, chose to sit behind a Citigo wheel?! Must have been the toy car look that attracted him. back to my18 fl model....1.4 TSI 150 SE L EST I have to say that it looks awesome in light colours, the beige makes the eyes blend together better than quartz but as they say the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I find the FL model very good looking on the outside and in. Much better in flesh than on pictures, I think.

  3. But they also get deadly animals and many other things (not just cars) that can kill you as standard! ps. Read the spec carefully, Columbus on Octavia is optional or part of the tech pack , similar to UK's SE Technology?
  4. Confirmation of manufacturing week commencing 20/3. So the car is being built this week. Expected delivery end of April. From reviews I believe that the car is going to be awesome. The Se l will give me a very generous spec and the front FL is growing on me. Yes, it's a massive discussion point but give it few months and residual values on pre FL cars will be affected anyhow by the newer version.
  5. Early estimates point to April. Ordered the following... Octavia Combi 1.4tsi SE L DSG + park assist
  6. Hi. I've been here before but my recent order of the new Octavia estate MY17 prompted me to came back to the Briskoda community. I will be happy to contribute to any forum about the new model. I don't think I am the first to order it but given that the finance offer was announced on 14/2/17, there can't be many in my boat....Hoping for more to join me. Best wishes,
  7. I think it's to do with purchase-power parity of the currency (PPP), the market research/customers' preferences, the degree of competition and nationwide legislation in each country. Being from the Czech Republic and living in the UK, I looked at getting my O3 from CZE and when I compared the specs, it just did not add up and it was so confusing with each spec showing different set of standards and extras that made it impossible to compare different models in different countries. So there goes my another reason why the topsy-turvy standard lists based on locality - VW AG is big and knowledgeable about their markets and they don't want a French customer to buy the car in Belgium/Germany. Long gone are the days where people drove to the continent to get their cars because they got exactly the same stuff but at a much lower price (despite having to put up with the steering wheel on the wrong side! ) Skoda in CZE is priced cheaper than in the UK across all models. Czechs like their Skodas but the relevant income inequality and the PPP makes Skoda CZE offer a low-cost spec where just the pure basics of equipment are included. In the UK, I feel that the Skodas are prices just below the VW, Audi, BMW and M-B because Skoda continues to build its reputation and tries to get rid of the old Skoda perceptions - also, in the UK, there's a certain standard of equipment to be included as expected by the customers and even your lowest spec in the UK has certain "extras" as standard when compared to the CZE market - excellent example is the Winter Pack due to geographical and weather differences. But if you do your research, you will find that the O3 is the most expensively priced model out of all the Octavias mk1 and mk2 - the good name of Octavia has been achieved - maybe?! Happy to discuss this further if others have different views. :coffee: :coffee:
  8. I am not sure one can generalise like this. I still drive 1.6L 16V petrol 5M Renault engine and it needs working to get the car going, it is in no way as responsive off the mark as the skoda 1.4tsi engine. I love the 1.4tsi because it responds really well in 'normal' mode when you are cruising or when pulling out from a roundabout, I feel like I can take the cars on - in the 1.6 petrol I would have go down a gear and work on it, in the skoda engine I just press the pedal a bit more to get beyond 2.5-3K revs. The other day, whilst on the motorway, the 1.4tsi had no trouble acceleration in 6th gear from a cruising 65-70mph to about 80-85mph in order to overtake cars whilst a guy behind me seemed to be in a hurry?! for technical comparison, the Renault engine has these specs: 1.6 16V, 0 to 60mph in 10.8 secs max speed: 115 mph engine power: 110 bhp (83kW/111.5PS) the skoda 1.4tsi is listed with these official figures 8.5sec; 134mph; 138.8bhp (103kW/140PS) Overall, I am impressed with the engine and whilst occasionally I think that the 1.8tsi would be cool to have, for my needs the 1.4tsi is enough - the 1.2tsi would be too weak though when the car is full, IMHO!
  9. Great info indeed perhaps it could be pinned under vcds permanent forum?! The next question is where to get this work done? Any local member in the Surrey area who might be interested?
  10. thanks for that! I now feel low and depressed and the guy at the dealership was talking out of his ar^&! - nevermind! What is the other part for, the diode-like square cluster I guess that's for rain sensor, right? PS: one good thing came out of this....I am responsible for Andyvee's 5555th post - congratulations and thanks again for your quick response.
  11. stand corrected ...my car 07-13 build comes with High Beam Assist (Inteligent Light Assistant) and traffic sign recognition. Although it only seems to scan for speed signs and display them via SATNAV display and not on the colour maxidot. I am using Amundsen, so I guess that it's not have the full version of the sign rec as other members have posted photos of different traffic signs displayed on their maxidot okay. I went outside to get a picture of the windscreen section with the sensor and camera (link: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0zMVgSVsv5KTjRLa21VWkJ1Y1k&usp=sharing ) can you tell me, from the photo, what this kit is capable of? Thank you.
  12. I love my Skoda!

  13. I have done about 500 miles in my new (used...other members may frown ) 1.4tsi with 6M and I have to say that it's pretty nippy when I get beyond the 2K-2.5K rev counter, i.e. when the turbo kicks in. I don't I would need a more powerful engine but I agree with the ..."when fully loaded" it may need to be worked a bit harder to get going. Once in cruising speed, I think the 1.4tsi is plenty-full. Since we are talking about engines...could you please help me with identifying exactly what engine is in my octavia elegance build in 07/2013, the manual says CHPA, what does this mean? And where can I find, please, the engine number to check it matches the V5C documents - I bought it via a Skoda dealership so I am not worried, just curious Also, can you confirm that this engine is definitely cam-belt and not chain with twin turbo as these engines also 1.4tsi by VW AG were (are?!) known for issues. Finally, when I listen to my engine on idle from cold, I can hear a distant light chime/ring - is this normal? Many thanks, Lukey
  14. Hi, I am prepared to get my hands slapped by the more senior/knowledgeable members but it would depend on the hardware that is currently installed in your elegance. Mine is also elegance combi build in 07/2013 and it does not have the radar in the front bumper, for example. Based on this, I cannot have adaptive CC. Having said that, I would also like to know if I can "enable" lane assist as the camera that reads traffic signs (I believe) would also read the lanes, so that option may be available. Rather than knowing what can be done, I would like to know where can it be done and by whom? Also will any changes affect the warranty? Some members have suggested that their dealership re-mapped recu and enabled some options when asked.....I just don't think they would not want to squeeze more pennies out of me?! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: The bottom line is that I am not answering your question - sorry! but I think before the oracles reply, you may need to tell us a bit more what you are after and more details about your car and whether you had any extra fitted already?
