  1. Hi, Wondering if you are in Auckland and could tell me which auto electrician you used? Thanks Matt
  2. Following on from Terry, our Bosch S5 battery (575.068) has died after less than 2 years of operation. Once this lockdown is over I'll be claiming a new one under warranty (and opting for a 750CCA one this time).
  3. Sorry for the delay. I've done nothing. Been away from the car for a month.... and saw the other post about the same subject. I hope to start soon.... just nervous about it as the car is used by my wife everyday and I can't get stuck half way through and have the car unlocked/boot dangling open ;o)
  4. I would love a video or document showing all of the above so future generations of Superb owners can convert to gas when their struts fail. ;o)
  5. Heres the one used, but any one that gets power when you turn on the ignition would be fine.
  6. Hi Pete, Sorry to revive an old thread. Our mechanic tried to replace our electric struts with gas struts and said the boot won't shut. Something about the closing mechanism not pulling the boot completely closed. I had a look on the SGS website for gas struts but they have no listing for the Superb. I don't suppose you have the part numbers of yours? Can you also confirm that you didnt need to do any coding or other mods to get them to work? thanks Matt
  7. I'm at the same stage too. I've heard that this conversion has been done before so would be keen to hear from anyone who has done it.
  8. Any update on how this turned out for you Jontypilk?
  9. I'd be very interested in reading/seeing anything you have done. I'm always keen for a bit of DIY.
  10. 225/40/18 Hankook S1 Noble2 92W (otherwise known as the H452)
  11. My experience shows that 38psi front and rear gives more even tyre wear on our car (compared to the suggested pressure). It'll be different for everyone so feel free to experiment within the ranges given here.
  12. my thoughts exactly. Surely there is a market for it. In fact, when I replace mine I'll pull them apart and have a look LOL!
  13. You'll be fine with 4 bikes on the roof. Look at what the French do.....
  14. Interesting! We have the same problem (but with Climatronic), the local AC expert told us the compressor was failing and quoted some horrific sum to fix it. He then unplugged the AC saying it would fail very soon and then we'd need a complete replacement. Considering this was on the hottest day of the year I told my wife to return to the mechanic and tell him to plug it back in. Four months later we still have the same issue but it hasn't failed.
  15. Hi, It looks like our electric boot struts (second pair) are dying. The first set lasted 5 years (previous owner) and the the current set 4 years. Can anyone confirm that this is what happens when the struts start to fail: About one time in 20 the boot will open. Thanks in advance, Matt
  16. 2UC SWP Sports version (suspension = 15mm lower). There are also std, rough road and comfort options according to the online parts manual.
  17. While I love the legroom in the back of our Superb I'd willingly give a little away to make the rear seats wider. Fitting three across the back is tighter than a Mazda 6, and makes two child seats and one adult nearly impossible. I believe later model Superbs are wider in the rear (steady Vicar).
  18. FYI our 2010 CR170 Elegance has the factory sports suspension. The code is 2UC SWP Sports version (suspension = 15mm lower).
  19. I caught mine (on both sides) so many times that I ripped them off in disgust. I've not noticed any issues having done so... note our car has the factory lowered sports suspension.
  20. My rear wiper stopped working for a few days recently, and now its back again. I blame an aging CANBUS network.
  21. Thanks guys, much appreciated. Our mechanic subcontracts the AC work to a specialist, but agreed I will get a second opinion on this.
  22. Hi, Our 2010 (120k miles) Superb's A/C has been taking a while to put out cool air (its summer here in NZ) and occasionally puffing out burst of warm air in between the cold. Our mechanic has said the compressor is on the way out and there are two options, repair or replace. Both are very expensive (500-800GBP) so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience? I'm thinking replacement is a better option given that a new compressor is about 200GBP (expensive to post to NZ though). What else needs doing at the same time, TX valve receiver/dryer??? Thanks in advance, Matt
  23. I'm at 190,000kms and have only had the rear shocks replaced 9att approx. 100,000kms) , springs are all original (factory sports-lowered suspension) and I have the suspension tested every couple of years. 170TDI combi.
  24. Our dog travels in the 'boot' of our Superb Estate and I'm curious to why your dogs require the rear windows to be open? From my experience the wind deflectors are not a lot of use. Many Japanese imports into New Zealand have them, and most are ripped off straight away.
