We did this recently to our Octavia (Swing ->Bolero). The Bolero was ex Yeti.

It was a plug and play swap. No VCDS required.

You'll require the PIN for the Bolero. Only needs to be input once.

    Bluetooth streaming is great!

    Cheers

    That's really good news - thanks !

    Couple of points.

Only buy from a proven and dependable source on Ebay, as others have reported problems with units bought from there. Can you prove it wasn't stolen?

Any unit is going to need re-coding to your car, since they are coded to a specific car at the factory. Therefore you will need someone with access to the VCDS system.

    Sensible advice - thanks!

  3. Greetings...

I'd like to replace the Swing unit in my Mrs 2014 Yeti S... looking at buying the next level up (Bolero?) off eBay, used.

Anyone knows if, by any luck, its a straight-forward plug & play swap!? Or, for any reason, its a headache or will not work at all?

The current system has bluetooth for calls only... I'd like it to play music off Spotify too!

    Thanks...

Thanks Gyp, much appreciated - will look in to these.

Not sure about the dash tray... will check tomorrow as car is outside and I'm buried in the sofa.

Re under-seat storage, 49 euros each at SuperSkoda - she's not worth it! B)

  5. Mrs drives a 2014 Yeti S TDi (face lift)... being the S model, comes with next to nothing on it in terms of extras.

Anyone can recommend easy / cheap / straightforward upgrades of any sort?

    Thanks..

  6. Greetings... hoping to get some advice please!

Mrs drives a 2014 Yeti S TDi (face lift)... one of the DRLs (non-LED) has gone so...

    1) What Halogen bulb do I need to buy? Looked on Halfords website and can't see DRLs anywhere - are these also called side-lights!?

    2) Any good / legal alternatives to standard DRLs which will give a white / LED type light? Not keen on conversion kits etc... just straight-fwd bulb for bulb.

    3) Any link to a "how to change the bulb" guide / video ?

    Thanks!

Well I finally had my arm rest delivered from the breakers yard and got to work on fitting it. The whole job of swapping out the old and in with the new took all of 30 mins and the wife and I are really happy we ended up getting one. Also fitted some sill covers, new mats and gave the Yeti a good clean while the good old British sun was out.

    Hi Matt,

How hard was it to get the armrest fitted?

Thinking of doing the same but don't want to end up with a can of worms!

    Thanks

  8. Indeed a generalisation but... from experience, I find sales staff at dealerships to be either utterly incompetent, lazy or.. often just unashamed liars who will say anything to make a sale.. I wouldn't be surprised if some still tell customers "12 weeks sir" !

I'd be surprised if you can cancel the order that easily.

You never been this close from getting your car - soon it'll all be in the past and you'll be driving around turning heads

Play the game, get some freebies out of it... then make sure you do not use them for servicing - don't give them a penny more!

I ordered my car in July... was told "12 weeks sir"

Dealership placed the order with the factory 1 whole month later - August!

I got my car... 2 days before Christmas (nearly 6 months from order)

Still hate them but.. got my car now B)

  9. Whenever I seem to get in my car, the windows - particularly the windscreen have loads of condensation on them, and so I end up sitting for ages with the heated screen on and the blower on the full blast clearing setting.

I know it happens a lot at this time of year, but people I get on the train with coming home, just jump in their cars in the carpark and they're away with no issues.

Silly question perhaps but... could YOU be the difference!? (Body temperature)

  10. I very much doubt the break likes will come on every time the ACC breaks... for example, if it's just to maintain speed rather than to literally slow down.

I was thinking about this a few days ago, as I was carelessly steering my way through an A round with the ACC on. I bet there's some mathematical logic that determines if the lights go on or not. Such as, how abruptly is the car slowing down... meters per second sort of thing.

Surely it's not as straightforward as.. if breaking, irrelevant of of much, lights go on!

Have thought about asking a mate to drive behind me while on hands free.. with my ACC on. Just to test it.....

  11. Every morning I get no dab reception when commuting... 15 mile journey, from one city to another.

I don't live in the sticks, and neither I work in the sticks.. bang on populous south of England.

Work colleague drives an Audi and does a similar journey, but has no issues.

    Anyone else suffering from dab-alitis!?

  12. I haven't tried it but... I wonder if the "hey Siri" iPhone feature works when the phone is plugged in / CarPlay mode.

For anyone not familiar with this feature.. on the iPhone, go: Settings > General > Siri > Allow "Hey Siri"

Solves the need to press any button to activate it..

Note only works when the plugged in / on charge.

  13. Afternoon all, I hope everyone is well and I thank you all for the great threads and info.

I placed an order with Lookers in Salford on 11th Jan for magnetic Brown SE Business DSG 2.0 Diesel. Very excited.

Each week on Friday I email to ask if a build week has been assigned. Each time (3 ) I have been told no and sent a screenshot which shows status P (order not accepted).

Today I realised that the required date is populated and set at 1st June 2016. This is not something I have mentioned, I want the car ASAP. I am very well aware of significant lead times and assumed the order would involve a significant wait.

When I asked today if others normal for an order not to be accepted after almost 3 weeks I received a response which essentially stated that the required date was entered due to the reported lead time from factory. I then learnt from Skoda CS that the order is not accepted due to the very required date having been entered. Basically it will be accepted closer to the time as not needed until June. My required date has now been changed and dealer and CS are going to up date me next week.

So, I just want anyone with a new order to be aware of this as it feels like I have spent an additional 3 weeks waiting even before the process begins.

Exactly what happened to me... Skoda UK telling me "your required date is 13/12/15 so the factory will aim for that, not sooner" when I had asked my lease company for asap delivery. Both lease company and dealership went in to denial and were adamant Skoda UK were wrong. My car was delivered 23/12/15 ! (5 months from order, rather than the 3 months I was quoted)

  14. Top features on the S3:

1 - DSG box (best thing since sliced bread)

2 - Xenon Lights (different car without them)

3 - ACC (very convenient, use it almost every time I drive the car)

    4 - Auto-Hold (as above)

5 - Leather Seats (smooth, not cold and easy to maintain)

6 - Parking Sensors (biG car!)

Wish I had gone for... 19' alloys (got 18s) + Sunroof... but can't say how worthy they are.
