  1. Have done several back to back consecutive tankfulls with and without tuning box and I have found that with the same driving style on the same journeys ( too and from work) I have noticed a marginal improvement in economy with turning box approx 4% improvement. however without it connected on a flat road with no wind at 110km/hr (70ish mph) I get an indicated consumption of 4.6-4.7l/100km (60-61mpg) the tuning box makes the onboard system over state economy by about 15% (measured by severan consecutive tankfulls). Honestly if you want a tuning box for economy I wouldn't bother, but if you want more power then go for it.
  2. With a 2 channel DTUK unit i have gotten 1001km from a tank (rolled over 1001k as I pulled into service station) and filled up and the car took 54l which makes it 5.4l/100km or 52.3mpg (or if you have system set to US gal 43.6mpg) From experience the tuning box gives about 4% improvement (without adjusting driving style) but lots of room for fun.
  3. cost nothing, the dealer put it through as a warranty repair, as there were two codes in the ecu and Skoda had a technical bulletin regarding those two codes (bulletin relates to fuel pump failure)
  4. I got some conductive grease and put the smallest blob on every pin on each connector, and have noticed that the car is more refined now
  5. I had the same thing happen to mine, had it taken to dealers for investigation and they found a couple of engine codes in the ecu, which meant they had to strip the fuel system down and check every thing, no faults found they put it down to some bad fuel. I don’t know if that’s the case but not long before the fuel filter had been changed, and according to a few diesel mechanics I know if they didn’t bleed the fuel system properly this was most likely the cause, and them fully dismantling and reassembling the fuel system would have made them have to bleed it all again. i would get the car scanned for any error codes
  6. Ever since the 45K service mine seems to need a top up every 5000km. one thing i have noticed that there is an oil stain on the underside of the bonnet directly above the dip stick and around the oil filler cap there is always some oil, even though i clean this up each time I top up. I am wondering if there is meant to be a seal / O-ring under the filler cap that has become dislodged / lost at the 45k service. as there is no evidence of leaks elsewhere, and i would figure that if it is burning the oil the DPF would need more frequent regens which doesnt appear to be happening.
  7. I have had limp mode occur with the DTUK box, in the end it turned out to be a problem with the plugs, the fuel pressure plug wasn't making secure contact
  8. typically I get 0.6l when idling. If nothing is on, engine fully warmed, battery fully charged and radiator fans off I have seen it around 0.5
  9. I use it when I can, the only problem I have is that when you want to reverse into a spot the driver behind sits on your back bumper giving no room to be able to reverse into a spot. I do find that it parks further from the kerb than I would, and it's speed is only limited by the pressure applied to the brake pedal.
  10. From what I can tell these are complete led Lights, as this was my dad's trailer and he ditched the old light assemblies and fitted new LED units, I'll confirm tonight when I get home.
  11. yes, when turning there is an extra light on the dash that flashes with the indicators. There is a diagrammatic representation of the trailer shown on the columbus screen when connected (well it actually looks more like a small caravan)
  12. I have a trailer with LED lights and it is recognised no problem.
  13. best I have gotten from a tank is 1001km, took just over 54l of fuel. this is in a VRS TDI
  14. Picked up a screw in front tyre last week and system identified it accurately, checked the tyre and it didn't look flat but it needed air. Not sure what a 63 plate car is but mine was built April 2015
  15. At six months old mine was like that and it was replaced under warranty (after several conversations with Skoda Australia), my wife's Fabia had the same problem and it got replaced no questions asked.
  16. The boost pressure sensor was replaced at 5000km, in saying that, that fix stopped the car from cutting out. as far as they would tell me they in effect dismantled the fuel system to look for foreign matter of which none was found they took a sample of the fuel and said it was clear (no water / solids) I guess we'll just see how it goes
  17. Got the car back, all they said is it had the following codes p008700 & p029900 and as a result there was a TPI for this fault which they followed and the car is all good, only charged for the fuel they added. No detail on what the TPI involved except that it stood for technical product information on checking the engine in neutral revs to 2500 in neutral which it wasn't doing before
  18. This whole spare tyre thing I find astounding, cars here in oz come with a spare , even though it may be a space saver which is speed/distance limited which I think is unsafe here as we could drive for many hours / 100's of km without seeing any place where a tyre could be repaired/replaced
  19. The top pic looks like the kit in my wife's Fabia and the bottom kit looks like what I have in my vrs
  20. Ttodorof, to catch the regen I monitor the exhaust temp. At idle temp is just under 200c, cruising 350c , regens around 700c i have a low profile Bluetooth dongle (cheap elm327 clone off eBay) and using the paid version of torque.currently working on using a raspberry Pi to gather various sensor data and display on infotainment unit (once I. Find the right interface to allow inserting another video signal) Gabbo, definitely intend to get it in writing, made a point of requesting that when they fill up with fuel that they log the odometer reading as I have every receipt for every fill up ( which I do and at the moment the drivers door is full of receipts)
  21. I regularly give the car an exercise through the rev range, have a obd dongle and the torque app on my phone which I monitor exhaust temps, and when i see it doing a re-gen I drive until it is finished. My regular drive to and from work is 50k each way with a 25km stretch at 110km/hr. Dealer has called and suspect a bad batch of fuel.
  22. last week car started to misfire eventually got to the point where it wouldn't hold speed, Glow plug light flashing and in neutral car wouldnt rev beyond 2k. The only two engine codes thrown were low boost pressure and low fuel pressure. (lots of other codes thrown for other modules, eg gearbox had multiple codes for "stuck in x gear" ) Anyone else have this happen? car is currently with dealers for them to investigate
  23. I am aware of the discrepancy between the calculated and actual fuel consumption
  24. I know its not a 1.4tsi but recenly in my TDI VRS I achieved 1001km between fillups (52.65l) and that was not trying to be economical, just normal driving through traffic with a mix of (60/40) highway / town driving over a period of a week.
