Have done several back to back consecutive tankfulls with and without tuning box and I have found that with the same driving style on the same journeys ( too and from work) I have noticed a marginal improvement in economy with turning box approx 4% improvement. however without it connected on a flat road with no wind at 110km/hr (70ish mph) I get an indicated consumption of 4.6-4.7l/100km (60-61mpg) the tuning box makes the onboard system over state economy by about 15% (measured by severan consecutive tankfulls). Honestly if you want a tuning box for economy I wouldn't bother, but if you want more power then go for it.

With a 2 channel DTUK unit i have gotten 1001km from a tank (rolled over 1001k as I pulled into service station) and filled up and the car took 54l which makes it 5.4l/100km or 52.3mpg (or if you have system set to US gal 43.6mpg) From experience the tuning box gives about 4% improvement (without adjusting driving style) but lots of room for fun.

No revs while driving!
Gadget007 replied to true247spartan's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
cost nothing, the dealer put it through as a warranty repair, as there were two codes in the ecu and Skoda had a technical bulletin regarding those two codes (bulletin relates to fuel pump failure) -
Limp Mode and Tuning Box

I got some conductive grease and put the smallest blob on every pin on each connector, and have noticed that the car is more refined now -
No revs while driving!

I had the same thing happen to mine, had it taken to dealers for investigation and they found a couple of engine codes in the ecu, which meant they had to strip the fuel system down and check every thing, no faults found they put it down to some bad fuel. I don’t know if that’s the case but not long before the fuel filter had been changed, and according to a few diesel mechanics I know if they didn’t bleed the fuel system properly this was most likely the cause, and them fully dismantling and reassembling the fuel system would have made them have to bleed it all again. i would get the car scanned for any error codes -
Ever since the 45K service mine seems to need a top up every 5000km. one thing i have noticed that there is an oil stain on the underside of the bonnet directly above the dip stick and around the oil filler cap there is always some oil, even though i clean this up each time I top up. I am wondering if there is meant to be a seal / O-ring under the filler cap that has become dislodged / lost at the 45k service. as there is no evidence of leaks elsewhere, and i would figure that if it is burning the oil the DPF would need more frequent regens which doesnt appear to be happening.

Limp Mode and Tuning Box
Gadget007 replied to mk4gtiturbo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I have had limp mode occur with the DTUK box, in the end it turned out to be a problem with the plugs, the fuel pressure plug wasn't making secure contact -
Consumption figures when idling
Gadget007 replied to toni8b's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
typically I get 0.6l when idling. If nothing is on, engine fully warmed, battery fully charged and radiator fans off I have seen it around 0.5 -
Park Assist - Self Parking. Does anyone use it?
Gadget007 replied to logiclee's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I use it when I can, the only problem I have is that when you want to reverse into a spot the driver behind sits on your back bumper giving no room to be able to reverse into a spot. I do find that it parks further from the kerb than I would, and it's speed is only limited by the pressure applied to the brake pedal. -
Trailer Led Lights & Bulb Failure Control
Gadget007 replied to Palhete's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
From what I can tell these are complete led Lights, as this was my dad's trailer and he ditched the old light assemblies and fitted new LED units, I'll confirm tonight when I get home. -

yes, when turning there is an extra light on the dash that flashes with the indicators. There is a diagrammatic representation of the trailer shown on the columbus screen when connected (well it actually looks more like a small caravan) -

I have a trailer with LED lights and it is recognised no problem. -

Picked up a screw in front tyre last week and system identified it accurately, checked the tyre and it didn't look flat but it needed air. Not sure what a 63 plate car is but mine was built April 2015

DSG silver button finish (cut my finger!)
Gadget007 replied to Exeterj's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
At six months old mine was like that and it was replaced under warranty (after several conversations with Skoda Australia), my wife's Fabia had the same problem and it got replaced no questions asked.
