Hi
I stay in Orkney, but have always had my Octavia(5 years old) serviced when I'm in the central belt. I contacted the Skoda garage to get a price for oil service and cam belt change, and was quoted £149 and £623. Skoda have £479 listed on their website as their maximum price for cam belt and tensioners, so I went back to dealer. They explained they had allowed for replacement water pump as well, which it doesn't need, so gave me a revised price of £529. Apparently the extra £48 is for replacing" bolts", which Skoda recommends, but I would have thought the Skoda price should include ALL materials required for the job.
I intend to keep the car for a while yet so would be good to have a Skoda stamp for this service at least.
I suspect they're taking the p**s, and I should go to a good local garage.
