Not a diesel but get between 31-33 towing our 2 berth, 1100Kg, caravan with a 1.4 tsi. That’s very close to our last diesel Spaceback pulling the same van.

It’s not three years since you bought one what are you doing with them? 😆 If you replace like with like then why will it need recoding?

I now have John's car and can confirm that is correct. I’ve no regrets buying it and with a 1.4tsi got an amazing 59mpg on a 20ml shopping trip the other day. Must have had a tailwind. 😁

I use the Travellingtabby dot com website for information. It’s updated at 3pm each day yes you’re right at 257. They were testing in Moffat on Friday so probably how they got an increase.

7 new cases yesterday. Also noted other regions which had been no cases for a couple of days had them.

Happened to me. Apply a bit of leverage as you lock/ unlock with the key IIRC worked for me. a new solenoid sorted it for me, around £25 I think and easily fitted, 2 or 3 screws to remove, in less than an hour.

My vacuum pump uses 6mm and does the job.

Depends on what milage you’ve done and how you’ve maintained it. My understanding of a full service ( as SJC menu) is strip everything down advise on what’s worn and in their opinion needs replacing. Rebuild and lubricate with whatever you’ve authorised. So be aware that initial figure of upto £100 can end up with a lot of expensive add ons.

Two things worry me. they’ve had it since November last year, has it been overpriced? and it’s only done 2000 mls in last year. Why?

Tyres, it happened to my Spaceback back in 2015. Lost 10 mpg but quickly got it back and better as the tyres wore.

Yes I think that's what has happened. It seems to learn driving styles so I'm told. The ECU forgot me ? Probably due to the AA man and his new toy and totally not seeming to have a clue [emoji23]There, I've said it now

The words were an update was missing. Is it possible the AA man lost it? Had a letter about "the fix" it's to be a fitting of a "flow transformer" directly in front of air mass sensor. May be BS but mileage is definitely creeping up. I bought this car at 5000 mls it seemed to be 10000 before excellent figures were being achieved. At 20000 now I've had a long time to get used to seeing figures for regular journeys. Today's journey would be 2-3 less than expected but a whole 8 better than ten days ago.

I can now give you an update: The new tyres were a whole "letter" better than the old ones in fuel rating. I went back to the dealer armed with this information and said I needed a better explanation other than a change in tyres. We went through everything that had happened. The saga began with calling Skoda Assist and I think this is where something occurred. An AA man quickly arrived armed with a brand new toy he was eager to get out the box. Plugged in his new Bosch fault finder and played with every menu he could find but the windows aren't on there. He then disconnected the battery for a while hoping to reset everything. It then went to the dealers and got new window motor fitted. So they took another look at it and then said that an update was missing from the Ecu. I brought it away and at first it looked like mpg was exactly the same. Out in it today on a regular trip and mpg is now very close to what it was before it all started. Seems to be improving from learning my driving again.
