  1. Great guide. Thanks for sharing your findings with the community!
  2. Hi, thanks for the swift reply! I'm downloading it now. Cheers!
  3. Oh, ok. I was thinking on the ground in the wiring loom - the point where it grounds to the chassis. I didn't even considered the possibility of solder failures on the pcb - thanks for the heads up.
  4. Can you share where is this grounding located? I've disassembled the interior plastic covers on my estate but found nothing suspect - all looked super clean and rust free. But I haven't tried looking behind the side cover inside the boot as it looks like a lot of trouble.
  5. I had a similar event with my 1.6 TDI awhile ago - before the hole dieselgate debacle and before the emissions fix. At about 80.000 Km the engine light came out and the car went into limp mode. I got the entire egr/intercooler unit replaced under goodwill - Skoda covered the entire cost, even being out of warranty at the time.
  6. I've bought one of these Lidl sets. I think they are pretty decent for the price slot. Usually, the bike racks that go along this price range will wrap around the aluminum profiles and ditch the rail system - yeah, I'm not adding much to the conversation, just mumbling here ;-)
  7. Hi. I've been having this too. I'm very careful monitoring weird sounds on my car and I've noticed this trend lately - it happens at the end of short city commutes, and - although I'm not 100% sure - usually when the fuel level is at about 50% (I mention this because I've read the fuel level is a go/no-go criteria for the filter regen - yes, it's a diesel). My 2011 Octavia is about 137.000 Kms (~85.000 miles)
  8. Hello, You can see one assembled here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/285462-glove-box-light-how-do-you-put-it-back-together/ and here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/60114-how-to-fix-noisy-fabia-ventilation-fan/?p=729545#entry729545
  9. Hello, I once found this on the HonnestJohn Skoda Octavia review: You can check it here, in the eleventh row: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/skoda/octavia-2004/?section=good One Octavia that I saw when I was looking to buy a car had this. Gonçalo.
  10. As you can see here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/153853-honest-johns-take-on-esp-problems/,the ESP problem is a known problem in some Mk 60 ABS/ESP control modules. You can see more in the post I mentioned earlier and in the "What's bad" section of the Skoda Octavia review on the Honest John site: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/skoda/octavia-2004/?section=bad
  11. My Galaxy Nexus would not synchronize its phone book with the GSM II kit, had to install "Bluetooth Phonebook" from the Android Market. No problem since then. More info here: http://www.android-rsap.com/bluetooth-phonebook.html
  12. If it's a unusualy loud noise, i could be worn out dented wheel. Sometimes vent flaps get stuck with leaves or branches and the actuator motors force them to break.

  14. As far as I’m aware, the 09-Cent. Elect. Control Module is one of the most complex available in a regular Octavia configuration. It also happens to be the one more often refereed here at Briskoda since it holds the most delicious bits of customization available. I don’t know about you but I get nervous every time I connect VCDS and so tend to speed up the process leaving little time to learn about its capabilities and complexity. Activating the cornering lights was my first attempt to customize my so far completely stock Octavia Combi 1.6 TDI MY2011 Elegance and it took about eight incursions to get what I wanted. For instance, somehow, while attempting this activation, my DRLs changed from the fog lights cluster (PY21W SLL lamps) to the low-beam (H7 lamps). I guess some options are dependent or can conflict with others so you should analyze the implications of chain events before submitting the code. Also, to ease diagnostics, never perform changes in batches, this way you will be unable to know which option generated an error. Everything is now working like it should but I was left with the urge to explore this tool more thoroughly and to create a point of reference to witch we all could contribute with our knowledge. I’m aware there must be some differences between models/equipment/countries that could turn this analysis too complex, so I urge you not to use these elements lightly. Always perform a Auto-Scan prior to any change and save it in a safe place. My changes so far: Byte 14 - Bit 7 - Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights active Byte 15 - Bit 6 - Daytime Running Lights (DRL) via separate Lights active Tried, but failed: Byte 4 - Bit 3 - Mirror Lowering with Reverse Rear (It ended creating an error due to some element not being installed or not having activated a dependent option) Will do: Byte 26 - Bit 6 - Enabling Cornering Light with Reverse Gear active (Every time I’m in reverse all fog lights turn on, I guess this will disable it) 1) Uppon selecting "Select Control Module" in the main screen. 2) After having selected "09-Cent. Elect." in the Control Module list. 3) Byte 0 4) Byte 1 5) Byte 2 6) Byte 3 7) Byte 4 8) Byte 5 9) Byte 6 10) Byte 7 11) Byte 8 12) Byte 9 13) Byte 10
