  1. Thanks guys - it's a different car. Belongs to a friend. The mechanic is a 'round the corner' sort of mechanic! Would a proper Skoda service centre diagnostic machine pick this up? Thanks.
  2. This is an automatic diesel - older model. Any ideas anyone? Garage keeps messing around!!
  3. Thank you - question is....can I get out of the space? Time will tell. Have to be brave, but I do know who came out and if I can't manage, I will get them back and pay myself as the breakdown won't!! Apparently, I am not the first with this problem - probably all the rain!! 60 years plus of driving and never had this problem before!! If I can get it out of the space, I am determined to clear it. So irritating!! Thanks again.
  4. Put the car in gear and......nothing!!! Felt as if the brakes were holding it back. Called breakdown and the guy knew exactly what it was. He made it go. But when I tried, it was jumpy to say the least. Not driven much due to Covid, so lost my nerve a bit. He said there was corrosion on the brakes. 4000m and 4 years old. He said it would clear and not bad enough to do anything about it. Oh dear, I will try and drive it tomorrow, but not confident. Not happy with a 'young' car developing this. If I do manage to get it going, should I keep putting my foot on the brake to try and clear it? Thanks for comments - but keep it clean!!! I know what some of you are like!! hehehehe
  5. It would be manual - so.....perhaps not!! I don't Its manual - so perhaps not such a good idea. Too much like hard work. Thanks to you all for the advice.
  6. Thinking of Citigo but will a 1.00 litre cope with hills - its a mining village outside Durham?
  7. Hi MTC - hopefully moving to Hove in June. White Yeti with a black roof. Are there many Yetis in the area? Does the Skoda dealer have a good rep?
  8. Did this last year for various reasons. Bought 1.2 same colour - and don't really notice any difference. Both had DSG.
  9. Any idea how long a battery should last? Or is it a piece of string?
  10. Thank you everyone - great help as always.
  11. Well I never did!!! I changed from the diesel 'cos I do short journeys!! Now you tell me I must do a long trip - not gonna happen!!😁 Lots of short trips - for reasons that just can't be helped at the moment. Still confused. One answer made it look like there is a separate battery for stopstart. Does the whole car need to be reprogrammed or just the stopstart? Please speak in easy to understand Ingerlish as I am not only a female, but also not in the first flush of youth!! I just want a car I switch on, it goes without a problem, put petrol in when needed and take it in for an annual service. Didn't want a computer thank you very much - already have one!! hehehe
  12. Did the 100 include the battery and can the tyre place reprogramme?
  13. Uh oh...dont want to be stranded in the winter..how do I know if it needs a new battery without waiting to be stranded! 3 years old 2.5k miles. Thx
  14. I hate stopstart so this doesn't really concern me. However, I hate when something doesn't work on my car. Seems to have started when I used the 'spare' key for a few days. Coincidence? Is this a problem? You guys have saved me numerous trips to the Dealership and I am very grateful to you. (I am sure the Dealership is also grateful😁).
  15. Thanks - I just do the recommended service and pay up!! Does seem a lot of money for what they do - but presumably they put it on their diagnostic machine to see if everything is running properly? So far, having the dealer service has done me well - my Primera was 17 years old and still going strong with dealer servicing - just brakes and tyres etc. My Yeti didn't have a problem in 4 years - diesel. This one is petrol. Fingers xxxd
  16. Me again - silly woman - so don't have a go pulease!! Changed my wonderful diesel Yeti 4x4 for petrol Yeti 1.2 2017 and it seems OK. Doesn't seem underpowered. Now done 4,000m and due service and MOT. Service £179 + MOT £39 + BRAKE FLUID £60. i thought an inclusive service was just that.....so what's the £60 brake fluid for? Anything else I should do whilst its there? First reg was 1st March 2017 and understand last service last January. Thought I would have it all done now together and know its OK for another year. Any thoughts?
  17. Yes, should've got £200k for it!! hehe typo of course....2015 .....and not only do I now do short journeys, but also use it to go into the congestion zone in London. Had no choice but to change to a petrol. The dealer said it was serviced in January but how do I check that?
  18. Loved my 170bp 4x4 diesel Yeti - had to change to 1.2 petrol as now only do short journeys. It had 7k on the clock 1915 model and was a bargain for someone!!
  19. Thanks guys...phew...!!
  20. When I start out I have to hold on an incline to go onto the main road. The brakes groan loudly and even when I use the handbrake to hold. Is this normal? If not what could be the cause as its still under guarantee!! Only had it a few months. Didn't have this on my previous Yeti!! This is petrol - previous was diesel. Thanks
  21. Just checked the tyre - spare on 4x4 exactly same tyre as those on my 2wd 1.2. Now found the price of my wonderful Yeti Monte 170 DSG diesel which I pxd.. Cheaper than I paid for the 1.2 petrol although the 1.2 is two years younger. I realise its to do with dealer profit etc. but also to do with the fact that diesels are no longer desirable. Or perhaps because it is in Scotland? Hopefully, this Yeti 'will see me out'!!!
  22. I fink the rear end looks much nicer than my Monte Carlo and it also has 'go-faster' stripes on the side. No black roof sadly. Fingers well xxd that it will see me out!! Sorry Arnold - did I spell thy name wrong? I now put her into neutral and apply the handbrake on a hill - howzat?!! Learn something new every day! Leather seats would have been nice - but I have to cover with waterproof seat covers anyway - horsey car!! Just looked at the website and they have sold my car already!! No price now - glad I missed it really!! Better not to know!!
  23. This is my full size spare from 4x4 moved to 2wd. Sounds as though it should be OK. When it goes in for a service I will ask them to check. BTW although its only 1.2 you are all correct in saying its lively enough!! Nice to drive except for having to put my foot on the brake to start it and having to remember to turn off the stop/start. Very irritating!!
  24. Thanks...temp spare is all I need. Just so long as it could get me going if need be.
  25. The box to the right of the tyre doesn't fit moving from 4x4 to 2wd. Not terrible!! The cover is an inch or two too short as well. Question is - moved the tyre from 4x4 to 2wd 1.2 - is this the same type of tyre? I thought a tyre is a tyre - hehehe!!!
