Yeti - stops suddenly and then can start again 15 minutes later.

Thanks guys - it's a different car. Belongs to a friend. The mechanic is a 'round the corner' sort of mechanic! Would a proper Skoda service centre diagnostic machine pick this up? Thanks. -
Thank you - question is....can I get out of the space? Time will tell. Have to be brave, but I do know who came out and if I can't manage, I will get them back and pay myself as the breakdown won't!! Apparently, I am not the first with this problem - probably all the rain!! 60 years plus of driving and never had this problem before!! If I can get it out of the space, I am determined to clear it. So irritating!! Thanks again.

Put the car in gear and......nothing!!! Felt as if the brakes were holding it back. Called breakdown and the guy knew exactly what it was. He made it go. But when I tried, it was jumpy to say the least. Not driven much due to Covid, so lost my nerve a bit. He said there was corrosion on the brakes. 4000m and 4 years old. He said it would clear and not bad enough to do anything about it. Oh dear, I will try and drive it tomorrow, but not confident. Not happy with a 'young' car developing this. If I do manage to get it going, should I keep putting my foot on the brake to try and clear it? Thanks for comments - but keep it clean!!! I know what some of you are like!! hehehehe

It would be manual - so.....perhaps not!! I don't Its manual - so perhaps not such a good idea. Too much like hard work. Thanks to you all for the advice.

Thinking of Citigo but will a 1.00 litre cope with hills - its a mining village outside Durham?

Hi MTC - hopefully moving to Hove in June. White Yeti with a black roof. Are there many Yetis in the area? Does the Skoda dealer have a good rep?
-
Did this last year for various reasons. Bought 1.2 same colour - and don't really notice any difference. Both had DSG.
-
Any idea how long a battery should last? Or is it a piece of string?
-
Thank you everyone - great help as always.

Well I never did!!! I changed from the diesel 'cos I do short journeys!! Now you tell me I must do a long trip - not gonna happen!!😁 Lots of short trips - for reasons that just can't be helped at the moment. Still confused. One answer made it look like there is a separate battery for stopstart. Does the whole car need to be reprogrammed or just the stopstart? Please speak in easy to understand Ingerlish as I am not only a female, but also not in the first flush of youth!! I just want a car I switch on, it goes without a problem, put petrol in when needed and take it in for an annual service. Didn't want a computer thank you very much - already have one!! hehehe
-
Did the 100 include the battery and can the tyre place reprogramme?
-
Uh oh...dont want to be stranded in the winter..how do I know if it needs a new battery without waiting to be stranded! 3 years old 2.5k miles. Thx

I hate stopstart so this doesn't really concern me. However, I hate when something doesn't work on my car. Seems to have started when I used the 'spare' key for a few days. Coincidence? Is this a problem? You guys have saved me numerous trips to the Dealership and I am very grateful to you. (I am sure the Dealership is also grateful😁).

Thanks - I just do the recommended service and pay up!! Does seem a lot of money for what they do - but presumably they put it on their diagnostic machine to see if everything is running properly? So far, having the dealer service has done me well - my Primera was 17 years old and still going strong with dealer servicing - just brakes and tyres etc. My Yeti didn't have a problem in 4 years - diesel. This one is petrol. Fingers xxxd
