  1. Bought. Nabbed a top mount while I was there, too. Saved £64 in total. Many thanks to all for your help!
  2. https://www.gsfcarparts.com/520vg0060 Didn't see your reply there, Nige8021. Fantastic. This it?
  3. The service mechanic's first language wasn't English. Is what he's point at (attached picture) definitely the 'Hub unit' in question? My engine code is TMBER41U528568432. Where I confirm this on the site exactly is confusing me...
  4. Thanks for the info, gents. Ebay is proving useless in my quest. Guess I've little other options but to pay out at the dealership... :/
  5. Visited a local brakes & tyres specialist today due to my driver's side disc making worrying scraping/grinding noises. Turns out hammering off your alloys is totally ill-advised. :( The hammer must have hit at the hub unit a tiny amount and over time has forced the calliper to be forced ever so slightly and diagonally forward, connecting with the disc. So now to get a healthy hub... my question is, can a standard octavia mk1 unit be swapped into a vRS mk1? I don't particularly see why not but just wanted to make sure. Sourcing an RS hub unit from any breakers is fairly unlikely. A solid answer with haste would be greatly appreciated. Have to make a long journey on Monday night and would rather have the issue sorted before then. Thanks in advance.
  6. Many thanks, octyal. Just ordered all four off ebay.
  7. Cheers, pauldazzel. Do you know the exact measurement of these vrs lowered springs?
  8. Cheers fellas. I'm currently occupying the removed space of the spare OE button with a phone holder. Phone sits nicely in there now, so will look at a different type of button install, if such can be done reasonably cheap. Maybe a custom jobber added behind the indicator stalk. Noted re: central locking, octyal!
  9. Hi, could somebody please advise the exact factory specs for mk1 vRS springs? They do come lowered as standard, right?? Looking to install all four as my current ones are too high at front (think they're standard Octy height) and I'm convinced the two rear lowers have a discrepancy between them. Many thanks.
  10. Thanks for all your help and advice, gents! Have sourced a fella who runs a bodyshop about an hour away and who seems to possess the skills and experience you've outlined. Shall be paying him a visit very soon and will update here for progress (if any) with this mod. Now... ideas what kind of place could sort me with a remote release mechanism? Such a notion slipped my mind, Phil - good call! I agree that the white lights and bolted wing spoiler aren't to my liking either, Leeboy... Thinking I might go with black tinted rear lights and possible rally spoiler. We'll see. Also, I'm guessing eBah might be the best place for donor bumper parts? Unless anyone has any better source?? The standard mk1 Octavia (non vRS) has the exact same rear bumper, is that right? Maybe could chance a breakers yard here for one in good nick.
  11. Aw man, terrible to see the need of the AA van! But loving your mods to date! Tell me, how far did you ever get sourcing those rear louvres and roof wing spoiler? As for a bull bar, would a Land Rover one like this be suited? (if sizing and legality feasible, obvs) http://lr-club.com/uploads/post-27296-1320121842.jpg
  12. Hi. What action would need to be taken/what parts would need to be sourced in order to alter the look of the mk1 to resemble the rear as seen in the attached pics? Lights and spoilers aside, I just mean the bootlid mod and rear bumper indent. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pxo6y3bvyaayace/VRSboot1.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/pxo6y3bvyaayace/VRSboot2.jpg?dl=0 Appreciate it won't be to everyone's tastes but am only curiously considering going for this look. - Is the smoothed tailgate from another vehicle or more likely to be an entirely custom metalwork job? - Is the rear bumper with indent for plate from another vehicle, or again some sort of custom? I suspect the boot may need welded shut (which would be huge sway against going with such an idea altogether) but damn does it look sexy! Especially on that black!! Perhaps some sort of boot release mechanism (like an in car bonnet release?) could be created to still ensure functioning access?? I can't find any info online regarding the particular cars in the pics – literally found them through a google image search and a youtube slideshow video showcasing various crazy mods. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Ross
  13. Bought a 2002 Octavia VRS Black Edition at the end of January there – apparently only one of two blacks in the country(?) Absolutely in love with it... hope to never part! Planning some minor aesthetic mods, nothing too major, just make her a smidge more menacing looking. No doubt shall be asking some advice on here in the near future. - Ross.
