  1. well i dont know about cheap, costs about 86 pounds at the dealer :s

     

    but i changed my 007 ebay clone to the Forge bov wich the car came with, alot of diffrence, i feel more torque

     

    now 2 questions ..

     

     

    whats the diffrence, why does this make the car lose power having something like the cheap recirc valve, now i dont know if it was a wrong spring in the valve or what.

     

    and should i spend the 86~ pounds for a new stock one ...

  2. Hi, so the thing is i spent time and money for the mechanic to fix my engine light, now there is no light but i think the power is missing plus i feel a spike in torque in the 1-2k rpm range, in 1 and 2nd gear

     

    i fixed the boost leak

    new afm

    new N75

     

    the car runs great now, but the lack of torque is baffling me

     

    now after some googling i am thinking about these things that can be wrong

     

    the cheap aftermarket re circ valve (007 clone) is acting up ?, before it had Forge Bov

    the map sensor is bad ?

     

    what other solutions can i check out ? im tired to throw cash at new sensors but nuthing changes..

  3. Check all earth connections and the fuse box on top of the battery as they have a tendency to melt. Also check the battery is getting a charge should be between 13.7-14.2 volts at idle with no accessories on.

    update: i took the car to a garage that fixes altenators etc. and i showed him the fusebox on top of the battery and the black wire was kinda loose and there has been some sort of melting, and he said that it would most likely be the troublemaker, il give an update as soon as i get the car , fingers crossed its not anything else serious

  4. Hey guys

     

    my troubles started few months back, when i changed the altenator, seccond hand one, all was ok

     

    on friday i see the lights in dashboard going dimm and the ASR and the ABS lights come on, later in the day the same thing happen but it looses power, suddenly it goes back to normal, i go to the shop, pick up some groceries, and when im goin back home the same thing happens.

     

    i think it would be wise to kill the engine and start it again, i stop in the parking lot but it wont start again, all the lights etc. turn on but nothing happens when i try to start it. i get out the jumper cables and get a jump start the car goes ok and i drive it home.

     

    yesterday i try to start it nothing happens, i get another jump start and it goes ok, but the car aint right, dimm dash lights and no throttle, low rpm etc. like there is no juice in the battery, so i go and buy a new one $$

     

    the car works fine, i go to the store again, now the battery light comes on but the car works fine, i drive back home, the battery light is gone.

     

    This morning ! the battery light is there again, i drive a bit with the kids, everythign works fine but in the middle of driving the ASR ABS and later AIRBAG light come on, the car loses power and gauges wont work. basicly no use of the car

     

     

    now my thought would be faulty altenator since its seccond hand and because of new battery and the battery light coming on, sucks but maybe true, my dad guessed that it might be something more serious like the ECU

     

    but at the moment i am hating that damn "VW" electric syndrom.....

     

    what are your guys suggestions ?

  5. I think I'd gamble with good condition used ones and make sure they're fully protected before install.

    My thinking was not risking buying seccond hand in case they break after few months, but could try finding late model mk1 ones, do you know if all the mk1 looms are the same on the vrs ? from what 2001-2004 ?

  6. Do a gear linkage alignment. It's fairly straightforward, full process is on YouTube. On my mobile so not so easy to find but its covered in a how to guide on here or just google mk4 golf gear alignment.

    This might be the one that fits, but I dont know how much the difference with the original is.​

     

     

    hmm ya, by the pictures i doubt this will fit, there is alot of clearing issues there, really tight spot ..

     

    i thought that i had read somewhere on this forum that that AUDI partnumber would fit the mk1 vrs :( oh well

     

     

    to bad there is just something like Forge short shift linkages, they are really exspensive :o

     

     

     

    but do you guy have any idea why its hard to get to Reverse after removing and installing again the original linkage ? iam thinking something must have gone a tad out of place, its like some locking mechanism is spomewhat blocking the shifter to goto R

     

    maybe the shaft or some of these items are out of place ?

Hey guys, i bought this item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151402562022 thinking it would fit to my mk1 VRS, after waiting for damn 3 weeks shipping, i tried to put it in tonight, and no luck, as you can see in my pic, mine is the "taller" linkage, so it didnt fit. i made the error of not taking a pic while the stock one was in because when i was putting the stock one in again i had no idea the position of the spring adjustment, so i couldnt put it in any gears, so after 40mins of adjusting the spring i was able to put it in all gears, but Reverse is real stubborn and hard to get in and out, and 3-5 are sometimes also hard.

    • why is that ? while removing the old linkage, did i yank something out of place inside the case, or isit just issue of setting the spring correct ?
    • and why didnt that AUDI linkage work ? after googling it looked like the 8j0711046E should work in the mk1 VRS ?

  9. I drilled holes in my corner grill, worked fine. I think it was an 8mm bit makes a nice size hole in the centre of the diamonds. I left some in front of the ambient temp sensor for protection, basically took half of them out. Oh and you'll need to cut out the corner of bumper behind the grill, when you pop it out you'll see what I mean. You can get milotec vented corner grills but drilling is a lot cheaper and easier, looked ok too.

     

    allright, thanks, cheap fix like this are fun :) no need to spend hundreds of $ for some easy upgrades

    i was trying to google two things,

     

    1. Trying to find non UK headlights, but having a hard time finding some for a reasonable price, any suggestion ?

     

    2. I was trying to see if any one has put induction duct in the front lower ducts on the mk1 vrs bumper, the passenger side is partial open for the intercooler, but the drivers side duct is closed, is ther a aftermarket piece that is open so i can get air in there for the induction kit ?

     

     

    any tips are welcome, thanks,..

    so i did some digging, took the glass out and found this piece bent and all out of shape ...

    ps. Now i have to manualy close my sunroof, it doesent close with the button, hardly moves, and if i try to close it with the key in door trick or by making it go default doesent work

  12. You'll always have oil in the intake system because the breather system is connected dont worry about it. What you should worry about is fitting the correct dump valve for the engine. Needs to be a recirculating valve not atmo like yours
