  1. You know your wheels! I did know that about the Gemini’s which is why I guessed the same might have applied to the extremes in silver but that was wrong of me to do so! I used to have a Saab 9-3 with silver/ machine polished wheels and never saw the point as you can’t see the difference until you’re right up close!
  2. Silver 19” extremes certainly were a factory option on fl vrs until this year, I’ve seen a few and depending on colour of car can look well in my opinion. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think they have the diamond cut finish the the anthracite ones have which is a plus point if they ever needed refurb. Enjoy the shopping!!
  3. Thanks for the replies, I phoned Skoda Finance after work there, who confirmed that my account has not been settled. So it’ll be interesting to find out 2moro what excuse the dealer has for leaving me out of pocket to the tune of £600 so far!
  4. I traded my octavia in early for a superb recently. Octy was on a pcp, payments taken on 28th of each month. I picked up the new car on 27th Sept and wasn’t surprised that I still made a payment for the Octy the following day, I was advised VW finance would refund me any over payments. I was surprised however to find that they’ve taken another payment today. I’ll be calling them tomorrow but can anyone with previous experience advise how long it usually takes them to settle an account?
  5. Is there some sort of national windscreen shortage?! I’ve been waiting 2 1/2 weeks for dealer to get a new screen fitted on a superb.
  6. Hi guys, I would greatly appreciate if someone could advise me if a space saver that I have in my 2015 Octavia VRS - size T125 / 70 R18 could be used as a spare for a Superb Sportline tdi 190, ie is the fitment the same, won’t rub on calipers etc, and will it fit in the storage area under boot floor ok? Many thanks in advance!
  7. Could I have spotted this car in Portrush recently? Was this colour with the red detailing around grill anyway, hardly too many about with that spec. Looked well! I’m changing from octavia III vrs tdi to a black sportline 190, hopefully next week.
  8. Would someone be able to confirm whether or not the oem Skoda 18” space saver that I bought for my mk3 Octavia Vrs tdi would be suitable to use on a 2017 superb Sportline 190? Cheers.
  9. Good point, I thought after I posted it maybe I should have posted on the superb section instead! But I also know there’s some very knowledgeable people on here. Thanks, I’ll check precise size (it is definitely 18”) and try over there, cheers!
  10. As per title, could anyone tell me if a space saver wheel that I have in my my16 vrs tdi (think it’s 18”) would be suitable to use as a spare in a superb Sportline 190 tdi? Thanks for help and apologies if I’m repeating something that’s been covered somewhere before.
  11. Hi, I also have a vrs tdi hatch (manual) and bought my first caravan 2 years ago, an Elddis Avante with a max weight of 1395kg. I too was concerned at the weight ratio as a novice. I always try to keep caravan as light as possible, loading as much in car as i can (which is easy with the huge boot!). Nose weight is usually about 72kg which is perfect. I have found the octavia to be a fantastic tow car, always feels stable and safe, i just always take it easy with caravan on and it has never been a stressful experience. The engine power comes into play when climbing long steep gradients (such as M2 out of Belfast), it just cruises the whole way up in 5th gear without dropping speed. I would also usually get between 30-33mpg towing which i think is decent enough. Choosing a caravan that you like and suits your needs best are so important, so i would say if the Bailey ticks all the boxes then go for it, just be sensible with the loading and towing and you wont regret it!
  12. Is the towbar fitment different between hatch and estate? Thanks guys.
  13. Yea I've seen that photoshop and have to agree with you that they do look ace. Would like to see a real photo if someone has them. Thx for reply!
  14. Anyone fitted 19" Vega (Superb Sportline) alloys to a vRS? Any pics would be appreciated.
  15. Thanks for the replies guys, I thought it should but thought I'd check before heading to shop, you've taken away the small doubt that was in my head!
  16. Hi everyone, just a quick question. I'm going after work to pick up my son's birthday present and wondering if it will fit in the boot of my 03 hatch. It's a boys mountain bike (assembled) size 24" wheels for ages 8-11. Anyone carry bike of similar size?? I do have a carrier but will be easier if fits in boot with seats down. Thanks!
  17. I got mine on a Saturday but dealer wasn't keen as it is their busiest day for the sales dept. I just told them it was the only day that suited me. They were ok and asked that I collected first thing before the place started to get busy which was fair enough.
  18. Yes after one year of ownership I do love my mk3 octy Vrs tdi. This is my tenth car (first skoda) in 18 years of car ownership. It's without doubt the best car I have ever owned in terms of overall package considering styling, performance, gadgets and economy. In my heart however it is my second favourite. No. 1 was my Saab 9-3 v6 xwd, I still miss it!
  19. I have had my hatch Vrs diesel (manual) for a year now from new and have noticed a good improvement over the year. Mileage is now 9k. I've just returned tonight from a weeks holiday in scotland ( I live in NI). Covered approx 750 miles and averaged 54mpg (according to computer). Car is always in Vrs mode as I have found no difference in normal or eco. On the way there last Saturday the traffic was very slow- computer read an average of 61.5mpg from we left home to arriving in Moffat, which I was quite impressed with. We spent a few days in scottish borders, then up to Crieff for a few days with trips up as far as aviemore and up cairngorm. So it was a good mix of driving, with some long distances and town and city driving. I don't drive like I stole it but I'd usually be sitting at the speed limit and do enjoy opening it up at times, so I'd call myself an average driver, so therefore have found the economy very good.
  20. Thanks VRSmiked, glad it's not a gremlin starting. Just never noticed it before, it's maybe dependant on conditions, cold starts etc. Also had wondered if car had had a software update or something at recent service, but maybe I had just never noticed it before!
  21. I've just noticed my car doing this now, it's a my16 diesel Vrs. Revs go from 800 to 1000 When clutch is depressed, then settles back to 800. Does the same when clutch is released too. Is this normal? Car had it's first service earlier this week, just started doing this since.
  22. Congratulations on the new car! I had a fully coded removable swan neck tow bar fitted earlier this year. Make is Tow Trust, cost approx £500 fitted. In my opinion it's an excellent job, requires a small cut on underside of bumper which makes it 100% invisible when removed. The coding gives some nice features like automatically disabling reversing sensors, and adjusts the cars stability system for towing. I believe it even will set the car alarm off if someone disconnects the 13pin lead if you're parked up somewhere with caravan/ trailer on. There are cheaper options available, just depends what you're looking for, fixed flange or swan neck / single electrics etc. As for towing, the octavia is brilliant (and gets great reviews). Mine is the 2.0 184 and I get over 30mpg average when towing our caravan. Car is very stable and just tows without any fuss. As long as your weight ratios are ok I think you'll find the 1.6 tdi an excellent tow car. Enjoy!
